Just completed this with 331 miles in the #62 Ferrari F458 Italia. Wasn’t bad at all! I thought it’d be tedious and boring with only 5 players in the R class, and 4 in the P class, but the time went by quickly. I finished 3rd after two Chevrolets. I wasn’t in it to win it, I was after the affinity points for Ferrari (I’m already topped out for Chevy). Only one guy quit the lobby early.
If it hadn’t been for a weird flip of my car going over the right side rumble bars in the last chicane before the finish straight–how does that happen? 80km/h and the car flips on the rumble bars???–only one pit stop would’ve been necessary.
Leaving simulated damage on is the only way a race like this is any fun, in my opinion. It keeps wreckers out, and makes the race more interesting. As for the 'Ring’s endurance race, I’m still not decided on whether or not simulated damage should be left on. If you wreck halfway because of somebody else’s mistake/stupidity, it’s a long way to limp back to the pit…
A lot of the wreckers may have weak network connections. These endurance races seem to require a much stronger connection than other MP races. I’ve been wrestling with my ISP for weeks and have had a hard time getting a good enough connection for the last 3 endurance events.
So on behalf of those with weak network connections: no, we’re not trying to hit you - and we’re not rage-quitting - we’re just doing what our ISPs are telling us: ride out the first few minutes to see if it gets better, then call back for a new diagnostic session and ISP reset. At least some of us will see you next week - on a new ISP.
I had a really good race. R class that I spend several hours tuning and working out the math on pit stops. Ended up only doing 329 miles, due to a corvette in the back wrecking everyone. So I had one unexpected pit stop and waited several times for the people in my party to catch back up. Still ended up over a lap ahead.
How does it happen ? well you shouldn’t be over on that area so you can argue that its the perfect deterrent, you are allowed your wheels on the rumble strip, any more and you are effectively cheating by cutting the track …
I think I suffered something similar while I was doing it. Was coming through the Porsche curves but was in the middle of the track, no cars in sight, no wreckage on the road at all and all of a sudden the rear end of my car was about 5 feet in the air before it landed and let me drive on.
It was awesome. I hung back let the usual first turn melee happen. Drove around a couple that went wide in the following 2 turns. Stayed on second place tail in all the corners till nervous anxiety must overtook them because they slid into the grass. Drove several laps wondering if I would ever catch 1st , when I noticed them parked on the side of road. Not sure if they wrecked or needed a bathroom break, but not long after I passed they was back on the road. Spent several laps with them not being able to catch me or make up any ground and then they started reeling me in when my tires wore out. I pitted with the lead and they took it back, but I came out of the pits and closed the distance so that I retook the lead as they were coming out of the pits themselves. I grab some distance in the curves where I was much better and they would make up some ground on the straights, but I held on for the win. Thanks Turn 10 for bringing back the strategy. It makes you take care of your car and tires. 333 miles. R class.
Just curious to see how far everyone made it in the 2.4 Hrs of Le Mans race? May be interesting to see the difference between R and P, and what pit strategy worked the best. I raced R class, 340 miles in the ZR1, stopped to pit twice when my tires hit 70%.
We started with 14 players, but 11 players left before the first lap was done. I managed to take the lead and not much happened to my car, but I saw cars flying around in the rear view mirror. So I had not much traffic during my race and managed to drive 332 miles in R class.
It could have been more, but mid-race, one window in our living room swung open due to heavy wind and I had to close it. So I took the opportunity on the straight before the first chicane (going full throttle, nobody was on the street besides me). Big mistake: closing the window took longer than expected and I ran into the barrier at full speed. I decided to finish the lap and having the car repaired then. But I lost approx. 1-2 minutes (2-4 miles). My initial pitting strategy was to pit once, but I had done this already. So I ended up doing it twice.
I think I’ve learned my lesson from that ;-).
The winning P class car in our lobby managed to run 340 miles, too.
Our lobby ended up with 5 of the cleanest racers I’ve ever raced with. I hope both of our P class buddies post on here because I would contend we pushed for almost as many miles as you can get. There was virtually no car on car contact, except for an awesome 180mph t-bone haha, and we were all fairly well seasoned racers. The R class behind me ended with 338 miles I believe.
Yeah, I noticed this little bump in the road myself. Going into the Porsche Curves, the first left hander after the initial right, I hit the same thing with my Viper, sending the front end in the air.
Also, I wish T10 would even out the friggin’ pavement out of Tertre Rouge. I had TCS on and it screwed with my acceleration out of the turn. It was never like that in FM4.
I am almost certain that is not what it is what it is like how many cars or onboards have you seen with the washboard effect at Tetre rouge? Or Porsche curves.
Before you say setup. Watch some 919 pictures of it hitting curbs and tell me they have a soft set up?
There is something a matter with the track (how it appears wet at times. I assume it was just some sort of error or condition during scanning or with results. If it was scanned. This is my favorite race, favorite track I’ve watched 100s (maybe upwards of a thousand) of hours of videos, onboard or otherwise. But just for the sake of arguement I’ll go ahead and ask Milner, Gavin, Westbrook, MacNeil, Bleekmolen when I see them two weeks from now. For that matter everyone I meet that I know went there and report back. (My gut says there is
Some sort of issue)
It’s part of the dedicated racetrack, not public roads in those areas so it seems a little odd that they (ACO) would leave a washboard to wreck and possibly kill a driver as that turn is at high speed. 130-160mph.
Le Mans was laser scanned, as reported here. Furthermore, laser scanning has nothing to do with the graphical road textures you seen in the game - the process merely captures data regarding the physical surface. As for those textures - I agree they look to have damp spots and I suspect this may allude to something in Forza Motorsport’s not-too-distant future; but, this isn’t the thread to speculate.
Now, as to whether or not the aforementioned washboard features truly exist at Tertre Rouge, I could not say.
I can;t say either - just seems a bit wrong to me logically (being a full time race track as opposed to the public road section. (It very well could be)
I will find out and report back - certainly the drivers will know and I will be at Watkins Glen the weekend after next. So I plan to ask about that and the first left of Porsche curves. I’ll make some videos of the game and have them on my phone and ask as many as I meet.
*** Major kudos to Cooper McNeil and Jeroen Bleekmolen (teammates of the AJRweathertech porsche 2012 ALMS GTC) and GTD competors - for completing the full 24H just between the two of them after thier Bronze driver was unable to continue after crash
Well on boards show that there are bumps … HERE is a vid showing bumps going through the Corner, and this is in a GT car that will have arguably softer suspension than an LMP car …
