Isn't it a little too early for another forza?

Maybe it’s just me, but it really seemed like Forza 5 was just released, and then here comes Forza 6 already? It just seems like Forza 5 has a lot more to offer, and a lot more to build upon before moving on so soon.

Not complaining in the slightest and hope this isn’t deleted, but I was expecting the next Forza to come out in 2017 at least; once the Xbox One has been around a little longer.

Forza Motorsport titles have released every two years for the last decade; it’s what the creative director, Dan Greenawalt, has said the team is aiming for and is why Forza Motorsport 6 is on schedule for a release in the Fall. By that time, the Xbox One and Forza Motorsport 5 will already be two years old. So, if you want your next Forza game in 2017, go ahead and prepare yourself for Forza Motorsport 7.

Kinda miss my FM5 car packs myself.

but they get another $60 for another game and a slew more dlc. i dont think xbox one games will have the longevity of xbox and 360 games due to the mandetory instals. fm5 is what about 40 gigs? games of that size will fill a hardrive fast. people are going to uninstal old games to instal new ones. it wont be as simple as swapping a dvd. forza motorsports gets released every two years. its a business and the business is to make money. gran turismo was on 3 or 4 when fm1 came out, and fm has will catch it later this year.

i think turn ten should slow down releases to keep from fragmenting the community with half picking up the new title at launch and half sticking with old title for a while. not many will keep two versions on the hdd because it takes up so much space. and with horizons now there is a forza game every year, it has become the mcrosoft call of duty. motorsport in odd years and horizon in even years. i think eventually groups of friends will stick to an older title because for some reason like being broke not everybody will be able to pick up the new title. then you are going to have forza titles selling about 1 million rather than 4 million copies. the friend groups will eventually move to the new title after price drops or goty versions with all dlc for free. i dont think the 2 year cycle will be compatible with mandatory instals and development budgets.

but dan has it in his mind two years is the optimum cycle. he claims its because tech advances so much in 2 years your code/game will be outdated by the time it comes out if you wait longer. but hes a console developer where the hardware stays the same, forza doesn’t get released on pc. if forza does start getting released on pc which may happen to recoup development costs among a fragmentedd user base i’ll probably start buying the pc version. but i dont think that will happen. i think forza and turn ten will just get shuttered. it’ll suffer the same fate as project gotham which was as big or bigger than forza back in its time. i think manufactures are the ones pushing for a title every year. they use it as advertising so they want the current year models they are selling in the game.

hopefully dan realizes that hes going to make the same or more money with a slower dev cycle if the community starts to fragment rather than not changing until its too late. i dont get xbox marketing. it does not use my logic/math so really i have no idea what will happen. i think dan sticks with the two year cycle and forza vista. he is married to his ideas.

The Xbox One now supports external hard drives so you could install 2 external 4TB (Terrabyte) hard drives for a combined total storage capacity of 8.5TB. So you can install a lot of games on that. No need to swap DVD’s if they are all digital installs. Right now I have a 2TB drive external installed and the 500GB internal. So far I have not filled up the 2TB drive. I also have separate external drives for movies and music.

Well, they release the game every two years so they can make more money, simple as that. Microsoft knows most of the hardcore Forza fans will buy the game regardless if they think the game is too soon. I think though that it would be better if they have a three year development cycle. But if they increase the stock car count to around 500 and the tracks to 25+ for Forza 6, I’m game.

It’s already been pointed out that all Forza Motorsport games are two years apart; always have been. Instead I’ll focus on the fact that FM5 has nothing more to offer. While we don’t know what to expect of FM6, previous title history suggests FM6 should be a substantial improvement over FM5; not just a recycle of the FM5 graphics and physics engines with some new cars and tracks. If, for example, the Motorsport series finally gets night and weather, they can’t just patch that into FM5 as it would probably require substantial game engine tweaking. On 360, FM3 came out two years after FM2 but brought a massive graphic upgrade including pushing ten times as many polygons. While we won’t know for sure until we get some solid details about FM6, odds are we’re really going to want the brand new game rather than more FM5 updates.

A Forza Motorsport game every 2 years is how it has gone for a while. Just like Horizon was released then 2 years later Horizon 2. I would rather have a game every 2 years then every year.

We could go on and on about this like COD every November and Madden NFL roster update every year. There is no point to do it though. It’s not up to us how often a game comes out, just if we buy it.

Like many, if prefer quality over quantity, but that may just be my professional background.

A great game, with the right support (past 12 month) will last for years.

Let’s be honest are any of you really not looking forward to it or going to buy it ?

For me I only really play Forza games and can not wait for Forza 6. Sign me up for Beta testing now. I did feel like Forza 5 was a little rushed out for the release of Xbox one with features that Forza 4 had to offer. But think Six will feel more complete and I’m interested to see if weather makes it across with them doing it so well with Horizon 2. So to answer the question nope not for me, it can’t come quick enough. Like a man with premature… Ok I’ll leave it there.

No, it s not too early for a FM6, because compared to FM4, FM5 “isn’t a good game”. It has better graphics and the drivatars, but is worse in anything else.

“but is worse in anything else” Hmmm Forza 5 physics are way better than any Forza before it.

Okay, that too.

i am undecided eros. i’ll watch it on twitch then decide. my last two forza experience s were fm4 essentials and fm5. essentials was half a game…and fm5 did feel like we paid to be beta testers. the losing saves, sound glitches, unable to connect etc…and all those hard reset problems. loved forza 1-3. hopeing they get back as close as they can to the fm1 experience. some say it rose colored glasses, but its still my favorite forza.

I know it say’s I’ve played from 2007 on here But I’m not a proud person of it but I did have a chipped xbox and got caught with it so lost my account :frowning: I’d like to add I’ve not had another one since And M$ and Xbox are the best things on the planet so pay for your items and don’t cheat like I did  … Ok I’m lying with the last part, but swiftly moving on I’ve enjoyed playing Forza from the demo when it came out on the original Xbox magazine. back in 2004 maybe 05 I can’t remember. But they have improved year after year graphics game play, the clubs, the sharing, and so on. This was the first time I felt they went sort of backwards with a game. Yes it has the graphics but missed so much of what F4 brought to the table. I appreciate it’s new hardware, rebuilt engine so it’s untrodden ground for the games makers. but simple things I feel was missed out. For me Forza have set the bar with Console racing games surpassing Gran Turismo… I’m sure I will have some haters for that. from the paint side of things to tuning and gameplay nothing comes close. I think Forza 6 will bring what at least Forza 3 had. Which I’d like to add I have my limited edition still sat in front of me with Keyring USB stick  Ironically the same game that got me banned for. But in my defence playing it early was too much to wait. Waffling again aren’t I  But no I’m pretty excited when I heard about it, and the way Horizon 2 was I’m expecting the extra time will bring it all and more to what should have been Forza 5. I fully agree with you it was more like a beta testing stage. But as I said before was new Console and rebuilt engine. I still play Forza 5 now more than Horizon 2 if I’m being honest. But anyway I’m sure if anyone reads this I’ve angered some and bored others  But I’ll preorder it and play it to death like I always do

This one time it is not too early for me.

usually however, the new Forza comes out before I’m done playing, and I feel a bit rushed to go out and buy the new one while racing to finish the old one for whatever I can transfer over.

But this time, I did wait in the cold to buy an early XBOX ONE, could not wait to play… was good for a few months, it got pretty stale fast. Little of the ‘new’ feature requests were granted, we all live with the idea that this is a launch game, and wait impatiently for the Real Forza for XBOX ONE.

I really hope that we don’t have to sit around and make excuses again. I feel like half the time, I am complaining, the other half defending and excusing. I’m a little tired of it, I am using the XBOX only for TV now. Been playing PC games… I can’t keep buying into Forza if it’s going to add enough features to satiate me for only 3 months. The racing is good as always, but it is the format under which we race, is what has been disappointing and can’t help but to wonder, again, what direction they are going. I will ultimately buy in to Forza again, but I dunno. I am getting a little burnt out, I guess. There are a few simple things that a lot of folks have been asking for, and I think it’s high time those things are prioritized.

It’s not early enough for me.

Honestly after the half-hearted attempt at 5 I think they realized they had to kick it into high gear or lose a whole bunch of their fan base. I just turned it on again tonight for the first time in…6 months or so, compare that to FM4 that I played religiously (Player created races) cough

Yup, completely agree.

I don’t for a moment, think that the Forza dev team don’t care about what we, as a fan base, want. After all, we are the ones who keeps their engines running.

But-

FM5 was a complete let down compared to FM4, and I felt a bit sorry for the whole Forza team when they got slated for it, but that shouldn’t suggest I think that they didn’t deserve it. If you’re going to claim to be the ‘highest rated racing game franchise’ and go a rush a game and release it with less than half the content of the previous title, you’re Going to get slated for it.

I know, there was A lot less content due to the game being rebuilt from the ground up, but c’mon, even a 5 year old can figure out that you can’t rebuild a game within two years and expect it to become the same game and more, than the previous title that had so many more years put behind its development. I think this was just a complete and utter foolish move. Plus, it probably wasn’t even up to T10 when FM5 release would happen. Cough Microsoft Cough

As you said, I think FM5 was a wake up call for the dev team, and let them know that they can’t just get away with doing stuff like that to a loyal fan base.

I have confidence that FM6 will be a Huge improvement on FM5, and we may, just, see a ‘next gen’ FM4!

-fingers crossed-

I’m still on Forza 4 and have all the previous Forza disks ready for insertion if I feel like playing them again.

I don’t feel left out of Forza 5 since I didn’t get it.

I didn’t shell out the $8oo or more to get FM 5, due to the need of a racing wheel.

To me Forza 2 was the best.

I will wait to see what Forza 6 has to offer before I decide to buy it.

I’ll be 77 years old next month, so my playing racing sim days may be over soon.

Happy Racing Everyone.
