Forza 6 sales and future

Hi all Forzers,
In last few days i tried to find data about FM6 sales, sure i have no access to real sales, just some estimates, but if those are close what sales are for FM6 - its a worrying thing
FM2 was sold ~14K in Japan in first week,FM3 - 34K,FM4 - 24K,FM6 - 6K…I know xbox not very popular in Japan, but still…Other countries didnt sold as much as some hoped as well. And there are rumours that FM6 still didnt sold even 500K since start all togheter, including bundles. And thats a worrying thing…
I perfectly understand we dont know what sales really are,but the main thing here is future of FM6 - it is because its are quite niche market for sim racers, its because of xbox and its relatively bad start with all xbox anouncements (drm fiasco etc.) ?
Also very worrying thing is how far xbox 1 behind ps4-that also makes FM franchize suffer surely,as it will not be so widely accessible as previous, where x360 was a major console
All those things (and those i not mentioned of course) makes me think maybe FM with Horizon where to much for us? 3 Forza games in 2 years since xb1 launch? Do MS milking franchize?
Make no mistake - i am Forza fan - but i also want to see FM7 and FM8 - and if those sales any sort of close to tru,its a worrying thing surely.
Cutting some major parts from game not gone very well with community (clubs etc),in some ways i feel T10 become lazy, because there is no competition - PD is probably 4 years away from GT7 anyways
I believe T10 should and could have done more with FM6 - im little bit bored with same 10 year old tuning options for cars, same spoilers, same rims (lets not start about few new ones - 95% is old),sound is off…
I played NFS beta - i was not expecting it to be sim in any way, driving was quite horrible, but i was very impressed what they did with cars visuals and customization and what you can do with car - and i bet it will outsell FM6 sadly, even tho as a racing part in this game is horrible.
Sorry for my bad English - not my native language, besides i didnt had my morning coffee yet

I am fan of Forza - but if Turn 10 will stagnate like PD did,im affraid they will go same route without any real innovation (single player becomes same, just in another skin, like it was in GT sadly).
Its not a rant, rather expressing my worries about my beloved Forza and future of franchize.

Fun and safe driving Forzers !

Dead horse dude.
This is a common sentiment around the forums. But the only people seemingly unaware of what the problem is, are the ones making and publishing Forza.
Estimates do appear to be around 500K sales for Forza 6, which isn’t great. But we’ll see. I think it’s why it released slightly earlier to avoid competition with Halo 5. Which in turn is releasing ahead of Fallout 4. Lots of games are played with release dates to maximise sales. But it won’t work if people lose interest in the game. I got Forza 6 as I bought the LE console which came with a copy of the game. In the past i’d also have bought a physical copy too, but I see no point now. I’ll pick one up when it’s cheap maybe, but that’s not guaranteed.
Many of us are worried about the future of the franchise, but only time will tell…

When you take away everything that is good from the game and replaces it with bumper car races, ridiculous puddles and arcade stuff like mods and spinning wheel, it is not surprising that the game sells poorly, T-10 say that they listen to what the community wants, but it is obvious that this is not the case.
I played the game for about a week before I got bored of it, I played Forza 4 for about a year and i never got tired of playing it, it says it all, it is sad that this game series has become so degraded like it is today.

I personally don’t give a crap about the “community”

You want them to bow down to your whims. Sorry mate, I trust T10 over you.

i actually really like the game when it works.

last 2 weeks or so the game has run so badly. lots of lag. nearly every race has ‘weak connection’ the lobbies act strange. me and my pal sometimes cant change cars or tunes. and at least once a day the game crashes and boots me to dashboard. sometimes im waiting 10 minutes between races because of various problems.

yesterday was the first time i shouted at the game. its actually starting to get quite frustrating.

You need to up your internet connection for a better online experience. If you have a sub-standard internet connection, FM6 will not work well.

Sadly I’ve lost drive to play it again much. I load up Assetto Corse instead and I paid for the full mega version.

800,000 players according to Kudosprime.

As long as Multiplayer is well-populated I’ll keep playing.

That’s number of players, not number of buyers. 5 people in my house play my copy of Forza 6. This is common in many households.
Players does not equal customers. I was worked out to be about 60% of players actually buy the game. That gives around half a million currently. Not bad for a niche game, but it’s been way better in the past.

Bear in mind that the PlayStation 4 has an overwhelming market share of current generation consoles; there are less copies of Forza around because there aren’t as many Xboxes being sold.

Im quite sure thats the MS problem with all the DRM shenanigans before xb1 was released, with not putting proper ram into xb1,cutting performance so not many games a capable of 1080p/60fps…They tried to soften it with backwards compatibility, but the damage was done even before sales started,MS become complacent, even tho xb1 has/have better exclusives.
They need dramatically drop price if they even want to reach 20mln xb1 sales.
Its pretty sad affair actually, seeing how such game like FM heading such way.Im not saying every idea should have been implemented, but im quite sure there were better things to put into FM6 than puddles (im sure i would not care if they are not in game-wet weather was enough) - community has a strong word, and if some of my friends will hear that im not 100% happy with game i love so many years, they will think its not good and just not gonna buy it.
I love Forza, but as i said T10 become little bit stagnant, they remind me PD.Sales saying everything i think, even tho FM6 as a whole is very good, there certain things which could have been done differently or better.
But then again - im just a player
Just one old gamers opinion…

This is an excellent point.

FM4 outsold FM6 for myriad reasons. Quality of game IS likely one of them, but a larger one is like as not, as PJTerney said, that the 360 outsold XB1 by (probably) just as wide a margin.

When FM4 launched, the 360 had been out for what, 5 years? 6? It had been the world’s most popular console for many of them, too. By contrast, XB1 will have been on the market for two years in about three weeks, and is being outsold by PS4.

800,000 ain’t great, but it ain’t bad for a month-old game on XB1. I don’t think Forza’s going anywhere just yet.

As far as competing with Fallout 4, I was always going to get both: There are no sportscars in Fallout, and there are no shotguns or power armor in FM6, hence I require both games.

EDIT: I suppose “Mad Max” would’ve been a good compromise… (I heard it’s about Manteo’s “beach vacation” back in 1987)

Also, to add, MGSV was released before Forza 6, not to mention the former had much more hype and marketing.

If I remember rightly, even with the big marketing push MGSV had (I work at Konami Europe on a non-MGS brand, but got to see first-hand how hard the brand team was working pre-launch) and amazing sales numbers, 75% of early sales were on PS4. That being said, having MGSV: Ground Zeroes free on Games with Gold in August was a big bonus for Xbox users.

The PS4 was the “lead console” in terms of development and optimisation, but thanks to the Fox engine the performance on Xbox One is just as good as on PS4 (and you’ll barely notice the difference between 900p and 1080p).

Do these figures take into account copies sold digitally?

FM6 is a great title.

The racing fans, however, are getting divided up. FM5 on XB1 really hurt the Forza community because not everyone bought XB1 at launch. Significant number of former FM players have not moved over yet or has gone to PC for racing. PCARS early this year split the group even further. Asseto Corsa in 2016 will split the racing community even further.

As for NFS, it’s got just over 50 cars . . . you can do a lot more with fewer cars.

T10 has still done a great job with FM6; just last night I bought Alfa Romeo 155 to find that T10 has included the DTM aero kit; Ford Cosworth has the rally headlight cluster; and it’s got great historic race cars.

About T10 should/could have done more with FM6 . . . that can be said about any title; but I’d rather not wait years to NOT play something that ‘could be’ great. GT series is seriously slow but are they really putting in more than expected? Was PCARS launched perfectly because it was delayed multiple times? That’s a title that had 2+ years of RACING fan feedback!

Now about worrying . . . no need, as it will not have any effect. The best Forza fan can do is to keep playing, share paints/tunes and good experiences. Leave the worrying to Dan & T10 team.

Xbox one is supposed to be this great and powerful system. I dont understand the thought process that says “lets take out features that made the game what it was and replace them with things that dont really matter or really add to the game”. None of us are going to be completely happy, I’m sure. But why couldn’t they ADD TO as opposed to remove and replace. Im pretty sure I downloaded well over 50 gigs of data to play forza 6. How many gigs do mod cards take? I am sad with the turn that Forza has taken. I still enjoy playing the game and doing everything that one can still do in Forza. I just hate seeing developers dumb down a game or at least not do something innovative on their second release on their big bad console. Still a Forza faithful. I just feel that there could be more, at least more than mod cards and wheel spins.

I wouldn’t worry to much about sales because as mentioned a lot of that has to due with people who haven’t moved on from last gen systems and the fact that PS4 is just dominating sales globally. The game is going to do well regardless especially with the holidays coming up.

The people at Turn10 know this so I’m sure they are not worried either BUUUUUUUUUUT one can hope this set back opens their eyes

The problem is that Forza is a “System seller”. It’s a flagship title that Microsoft show off to entice people into buying “Their” console over the competition. The two issues now are that the XB1 hasn’t sold well due to a disastrous launch and all the surrounding events we remember. Secondly the game is removing stuff instead of adding. Those two things stop people buying it. If Microsoft decide their sysem seller is no longer selling systems. They’ll dump it in favour of the next big thing. They’ve got games like Recode coming, which if successful, could become a new system seller. Then Microsoft will asses how many system seller titles they need, and less successful ones may be pruned. You know they love to “Redirect resources to maximise profit”.
I think Forza is safe in the current climate, but sliding sales equal meetings with the higher ups…

A thought occurred as I browsed through the tracks in my S Class car looking for the next location to try my hand at.

Everyone who plays Forza 6 is given a quick race around Rio in the 2017 Ford GT as an introduction just like in previous games.

So…as you stop on Rio…in the S-Class category…and you see your leaderboard place…“such and such” out of so many hundred thousand people.

Is that an indicator of Forza 6 sale figures?

(This was its own topic but forum mods moved it to this topic which is so disrespectful and rude and why I stopped using these forums in the first place…it reeks of secret censorship and trying to shove controversial issues under the rug onto the end of posts they know no one will ever see due to lack of context and general forum clutter-STOP DOING THAT!!!)
