So, I think it’s pretty obvious what this is going to be about. What do you think about the Race Front Bumper/Wing upgrades? I myself use them when the gain justifies the loss. Sometimes I just use one or the other (depends on which one is closer to gaining equal to or more than it lost); and if neither are worth it, I stick to Stock, or if available Street or Sport (though Sport sometimes can affect your handling/speed, so that’s a maybe as well). Anywho, when I am using one or both, I find it does help to fine tune the way your vehicle handles & brakes, obviously, but it also helps with setting how it accelerates & how well it handles whatever kick/pull you get from the back/front. At least, that’s the way I feel about it. Maybe I’m just imagining things. What do you think? Is the slight increase in Handling & Braking, plus the ability to tune the Downforce to affect your vehicle worth the often times slighty significant decrease in speed (in my experience, it’s usually between 0.1 - 0.5; but there are extreme cases of up to 0.8)? Yeah, that was unecessarily wordy and over-explanitory, but I’m not changing it. I wanna sound smart in my stupidity.
I think it just comes down to how the car drives. Dont worry about the stats in the game to much. Build your car the way you want it for a track and tune it. If it doesnt give you the feel or time you want re build it with the problem area on your mind and aim to fix it thru the build. If the car feels better and runs better time with less speed but more rear/front end grip then it is worth it. Dont invest to much time in the stats at all. The first build i do is the only one that i really look at the stats but after that its all about fixing what the car needs fixed instead of having a car that looks good on the lobby stat screen.
If you go by the hoppers. No aero is beast, you can fly off the track every corner. Then immediately drive back on with no regards to traffic, cause a massive pile up, but hey your no aero car looks sweet. Some cars are good with no aero, but 95% need aero.
Grip/handling/braking > speed
the down force and drag created by it will not affect acceleration, just top speed. In Motorsports such as road racing, you spend 99% of the time accelerating not running in top gear for long periods of time.
Short answer, yes, unless your lapping the indy oval, and some cars would even have use for it on that track.
It’s my experience that Indy oval requires acceleration and handling and I rank pretty high on those leaderboards from c-x. The turns are pretty tight and the car that has success at Indy is the one that goes through the turns the fastest. Not the one that hits the highest speed on the straight.
LeMans full/old can benifit low aero. But even then I tend to rather car with it aero almost full.
there are time when aero can enable you car faster. you can reduce the aero giving you a higher top speed for tracks like sunset oval from previous forzas. its one of the things i put on every car since i can reduce the aero to make it like its not even there and it actually drops the pi the vast majority of the time letting you get wider back tires or something. a race tranny is the other thing i try to put on every car, it lets you get alot more accel per pi point and credits than more hp gives you. if you need the aero you’ve got it, if not you can reduce the aero and take the free ip points to put where ever you want.
Is there no impact on acceleration from the wings other than the weight increase effect? With the front splitter i can feel drag at low speeds.
The front splitter especially slows a car down, as can the rear if tuned heavily for cornering. It all depends on what car you’r running and with what upgrades. I have a pretty competitive B-Class Lobby 70’ ZR-1 that I run no aero at all with. I also have a competitive B-Class Lobby 71’ ‘Cuda that I run full aero with and on that note a 70’ Camaro that I run no-aero with that is a charm at Bathurst. It really all depends.
If Aero Dosen’t Work Use A Wider Front Tire And Also Use The Perfect Braking Balance For Front and Rear Every Car Has A Perfect Braking Balance And If You Don’t Know it Don’t Use The Brakes Use The Stock One And Build Your Car Up Part By Part The Track You Will Tune On Is Very Important I Tune I Laguna Seca And Sabring Full Aswell Catalunya.
it’s what i have on my real life car, because racecar.
so, yes. i use it on most cars in the game.
I don’t use race aero on most of my B class cars but use it on a lot of my A and S class cars. It depends on the car really.
I’ve been experimenting with no aero more lately because I like the look of the car, especially the old classic racers. Speed in straights goes up but control goes down. Adding to brakes and tires helps a lot but there are few tunes where I can match my times with aero on.
ATX LinColn - I’ll play around with brake balance more, that sounds promising.
Add it. If you don’t use it then just set at the minimum level. Adding the Forza aero will decrease the PI. Therefore, letting you add PI on other areas.
Aero is key in racing without it you just cant produce fast enough lap times fact.
it reduces pi alowing hp increases which will allow the car to have around the same top speed as a car with out aero if the tuning values arnt set to high.
So without a dowt aero is a good idea just watch rivals replays of near top driver they all will use aero
The stock aero has got downforce its just not adjustable and seems to give a twitchier feel ,in some situations its faster with stock but ussualy i end up with adjustable.
If your average corner speeds are above 70-80mph, aero is a must. So it works pretty much everywhere lol
I personally am a strong believer in aero for many reasons. First is the increase in lateral g’s. Second, you can use it as a fine tuning aspect not as an end all be all to your corner issues. Make adjustments on it by about 20 on the front or rear of the car. Work on the front/rear aero first and then go to the other dont do both at the same time. Third, like stated before it will decrease your PI giving you the ability to add more HP to your tune. Now HP isnt always the best thing to add since that will also change the way the car acts but its usually a good place to start. Fourth, it will also decrease your braking distance quite a bit when braking at high speeds. To me the advantages out way the disadvantages. Hope we could all help clear it up for you or make you more confused :}
aero is the best way every time. people seem to forget it gives you complete control over how much downforce you want.
over the years of playing forza ive realised one thing, the huge drop in the top speed stat when you put the wings on means completely nothing, lol. fact is most cars wont reach the top speed, not even on the old le mans straight. so when you put aero on, it might take 30 or 50 mph off the top speed or whatever, but you wouldnt reach that speed anyway. and if you think it HAS reduced it too much?, just reduce the drag.
most of my cars have zero engine upgrades, only if i have points left in the class im going for, seriously even 400 bhp is enough for A class, my challenge stradale wins online quite a lot with that. its all about getting the power already there down, aero increases the stability greatly.
Here is something to try, put on the areo and then go into tuning. Mess around with each of the stats and if it doesn’t help put it back then try a different thing to tune. I put areo on a car and improved all of its stats by messing around with the areo tuning. It might take sometime to truly get the hang of it but its worth learning.
