Hey guys, just have a bit of a question concerning Aero.
When you have no aero installed the Aero tab in the tuning page shows as mid-way with no number, and I would imagine the stock parts would still have a natural effect but it is not adjustable,
So I wonder for high speed tracks, is it more beneficial to use no aero, or to use forza aero set to speed? It may seem like a stupid question but I was wondering if anyone had tested no aero vs forza aero set to minimum on the indy oval and seen if there is noticeable difference? I tend to not race consistent enough to do it myself…
My first thought is that no aero would be better but then there is a lot of little inconsistencies in this game that work when they shouldnt…
As it is in many cases, the answer is, “it depends”.
Take, for example, D400 Indy Oval rivals dominated by Subaru BRZ. The car is faster without the aero no doubt but is more challenging to stay on course. Add the aero then the car is still reasonably quick but will never be competitive on Indy Oval.
In a higher class car where the car has enough to power to exceed the traction limit of the car, using aero can be faster.
So without factoring in handling, the stock aero will pretty much always be faster than the Forza Aero even when the sliders moved all the way to the left.
If you are considering top speed only, absolutely; no front/rear wings will always be faster.
You can try it at Old Le Mans and the difference will be noticeable.
Adding side skirt, however, reduces drag by 1% which should increase the top speed marginally. I have never tested it though. This is the only aero add on that I know that increases top speed.
