Is Ultimate Edition worth it?

Really on the fence, after Forza Horizon 3 and the crashes issues never really solved, I am anxious if this game will do the same thing. Although I had no trouble with the demo (played through it twice) and I want to know what you guys plan on doing with the game! Thanks in advance for your feedback!

If you are having crashes it’s probably best to read a bunch of reviews, watch pc people play it ect. But a bunch of folks around here for the most part are saying it runs much better and all (from demo). That seems like a bigger issue to you then if a ultimate edition is worth it. I’m not a pc guy so I can’t say for sure. But as for the Ultimate as far as opinions go yes. It comes with way more than ever before. The expansions alone makes it worth it to me. I’ve never been let down with the ultimate (of course I play the games a ton anyway so it always made sense to me to get everything.) Folks should start showing it off on PC since the reviews and everything are flooding out. You still have a few days before early access kicks in and all that.

It really depends on how much time you intend to play the game, when you want to play and whether or not you would buy the additional content in the form of car packs and expansion packs anyway.

If you will buy the car packs, VIP, expansions etc as soon as they come out then it represents a sizeable discount on purchasing these things separately.

If you don’t mind waiting 6 months or 12 months or 18 months for it to be heavily discounted in the Xbox store, well fair enough some people will pick up a bargain later on. They will still miss out on early access and pre-order bonuses - so it may also depend on how much those mean to you. Early players will have the advantage in sharing designs and tunes etc as the bigger the player base = more downloads over time. So depending on what you do in the game, I’d also factor things like that in to it.

At the end of the day it’ll be up to you to decide whether it’s worth it to you or not.

Can’t help you with pc crashing problem but i reckon ultimate edition is worth price considering that included in the purchase are the Car Pass and 2 Expansions.

To sweeten the deal i brought ultimate edition for £70.84 in uk ( 9% saving ) by paying for the purchase with prepaid xbox store cards that can be obtained for less than face value.

I plan on playing through game pass. But I’m planning on purchasing all content. So my question is what will all the content packs add up to as compared to a hundred bucks for the ultimate edition?

Whether it’s worth it or not is a question only you can answer for yourself.

If I’m doing my math correctly. FH3’s car, vip, and expansion were initially 30, 20, and 35 respectively. After taxes there’s only about 20 bucks separating the ultimate edition of FH4, if the content prices are the same, from just playing on gamepass and buying all the content separately.

I’m not a game pass subscriber - but wouldn’t you have to figure in to your calculations if it drops from the game pass list? I.e. having to buy the base game at some point?

Plus there are 2 expansions this time,so you have to figure that in.Also the drift pack and best of bond pack with the ultimate.

FH3’s initial expansion BUNDLE was 35, which I included. If you bought the expansion’s independent of each other, they were 20 bucks each. I don’t expect FH4 to disappear from Gamepass for at least a year. However I still play FH3 a few times a month and I’ll definitely be playing FH4 for the next two years. But you definitely are right about the Bond and Drift packs. I bet those two are ten bucks each.

Realistically I should just buy the ultimate edition.

I doubt that’ll be something to worry about until 2022 when the music licensing expires (going by FH1 and FH2’s delisting)

O.k. I didn’t realise games were available on GamePass until they reached end of life or whatever - figured the list would switch up from time to time, meaning some games became unavailable at some point. Never really looked in to it.

Edit - off topic, but just tried to create a new sig and it looks pants lol.

Game Pass is still relatively young so I don’t think anyone really knows what to expect. But being a first-party MS game, if they’re willing to have it in Game Pass at launch, I don’t see why they’d want to remove it whilst it’s bumping the number of games included in the Pass.

Seems like you have three different topics all in one here.

Is the Ultimate Edition worth it?
It’s certainly very good value for money considering all the individual parts plus Early Access. It’s impossible to truly say if it’s worth it until I’ve actually played the game at all, yet alone seen the DLCs themselves which have yet to be announced.

Should I get Ultimate despite crashes in FH3?
Probably not, no. I’d stick to standard for the peace of mind and if your computer runs it like a dream, you can buy the extras as you want afterwards. Unless you’re really craving the Bond pack you should be fine.

What do you plan to do with your game?
I own the Ultimate Edition on Xbox One X and can’t wait to get started!

It’s okay, not everyone can have a snazzy sig image like say Dragnet or myself.

This sig is even better than the last!! And although Dragnet did not make my sig,it is because of him I still have it,and people say he is not a nice guy,i beg to differ!!

I am surprised you don’t mention your position on the preservation board of Maple Leaf. btw, what did you find out about the removal of the covered bridge anyway (lol)

I might have to have a word with SnakeEyes - he made a few of mine back in the day lol. I’ve apparently not got the right software / ability to do it. It’s a combination of the two.

Having played all the previous Horizon games for far too many hours to nearly 100% completion (including playing FH2 twice since I got it first on my Xbox 360 and then again once I got an Xbox One), and the fact that the Ultimate Edition now includes the season pass and thus represents an even better value now than it did for previous Horizon games, it was an easy choice for me even at $100 since I know I’ll get plenty of value out of it.
