I ask this because of how underwhelmed I am at Turn 10’s 20th Anniversary Update… I just expected there to be more, was really hoping they were hiding something.
They weren’t!
We pretty much got exactly what they told us we were going to get, nothing more, nothing less.
1 track, albeit a stunningly beautiful one in Fujimi Kaido, and 1 lazily put together Featured Tour commemorating 20 years of Forza.
No introductory video like has appeared with each and every other update, no fanfare, just another tab to the right in Career Mode and a few notes in the ‘What’s New’ section.
The shared passion for cars and car culture that was such a prominent aspect of previous Forza games is honestly nowhere to be found in this one.
This one just feels and comes across as a product to be used in the moment and then moved on from, as if the team creating it doesn’t necessarily love what they’re creating, it’s simply a job and a paycheck.
Forza Motorsport released over a year and a half ago.
There’s still only 1, horribly underlit homespace, a UI that often makes you wanna start shouting cuss words at the T.V. , and most importantly, the obvious scaling down of new tracks with each update, not to mention an amazingly ill-timed DLC pack that asked players to give Microsoft some money while at the same time asking them to celebrate 20 years of Forza.
That should have been a gift.
Right?
Microsoft is a shrewd company and Turn 10, being owned by them, is kind of at their mercy.
I think we’ve seen the best of what Forza Motorsport (2023) is going to give us.
**edit… after reading a few responses… I’m not trying to prematurely bury the game, I play it pretty consistently, bought the recent DLC and I’ll buy the next one, which I’m sure is coming. The actual ‘racing’ and physics have never been better in my opinion and prior to this, FM6 was my go to, which I can’t go back to because of how much better this one feels.
I think Turn 10 have done an amazing job supporting the game since it released but obviously, that’s going to start tapering off at some point and I kinda think that’s where we’re at. I hope I’m wrong, I definitely want to be wrong.
Honestly speaking, if they don’t address the things you mentioned plus a plethora of other items that need addressed within the game, it might as well be time to wrap it up.
Speaking on just the UI alone, it is the UI one would have expected when FM1 hit the market back in 2005. But even the UI for FM1 was more advanced and better thought out than this UI.
People try to bury this game since launch and that’s fine given all the flaws it has. But the truth is that it’s slowly improving and so does the player count.
We are not at the end of the road yet, look out for Update 21 - it’s gonna be a blast!
I am with you on this
The team are working very hard to improve the game and every update is getting better
Stick with the game guys there is much more to come
I trust the Insider guys words more so then nay sayers or speculators. They at least give us a heads up without spoiling much…most times. In my head I think they still have at least another year of full support for this game before they wind down, why would they decide to pull the plug now when there are still many fixable components to the game? And all the effort and strides they have made so far shouldn’t go unnoticed or unappreciated. I do realize too though there is still some more work to be done ij many aspects of this game.
The upside of this series peaked years ago.
The glory days are long gone.
It will never be better than (or even as good as) it was.
That’s not nostalgia talking - it’s recognition of a long-running decline.
I welcome more improvements for this game, but imaginary future potential has no game-play value today, and the game’s makers have not made any public commitments regarding the game’s future (and they have yet to deliver on some prior commitments).
At the pace this installment has been going so far, its speculative potential won’t see the light of day in this decade.
Not to start an argument about the current update. But aside from the Fujimi Kaido track and the few “free” cars. What improvements did this upgrade bring to the game? Maybe a few fixes that were long long over due. No real QoL upgrades. The AI wasn’t largely upgraded. They stacked the MP lobbies with mismatched players and rammers. Added an Anniversary “pseudo career” mode that once it’s been run, because there’s only one car choice, will have no real replay value.
And what is coming in upgrade 21? They haven’t dropped any hint as to any roadmap for the future. All we know is there will not be a track. And we’re not sure when the next track will even drop.
I’m in with @Operator1 , I welcome more improvements. But I don’t expect any real solid QoL improvements. And I really don’t expect any major changes to the base game as far as the votes that have been cast so far.
I think it’s just getting started it had a rocky start but has made the changes everyone asks for and continues to make them.
I’ve said it before Rome wasn’t built in a day.
And I still believe that is the best forza for multi player.
And we are all still here because we want the game to succeed and be the best it can and most of all we are passionate about that.
I think the Romans built the auqaducts faster than it took T10 to get this game to this point.
I mean, 20 updates and the paint shop still isn’t functioning on par with FH5?
20 updates and the AI still remains largely unchanged from day one? Except for a few minor upgrades.
20 updates and the FRR (which were started back in the ending days of FM7) still aren’t working?
20 updates and I could go on… and I’m not talking about anything ancillary added to the game. Just about things within the game that needed changed from day one. Look at the list of “vote it up” items that have gone on unchecked.
It’s finally getting youtubers playing it more and saying it’s good now, compared to initial low reception. They should continue with it and make it the ultimate FM eventually…
Well said. Way too many doom and gloomers which some are just praying on the games downfall rather than actually wanting the game to improve. I see it in every game now. Turn 10 have been pumping out updates with content every month rather than letting it sit.
I believe we will know all there is to know about the future of this title with the next update. The fact they haven’t even said there is one is a potential red flag.
The player count is on the up and is well above FM7 at this point in its lifecycle and the game does finally appear to be on a positive upward trajectory, whether that’s enough for T10 to continue development we will know soon. Personally I think most of the resource is going to go in to FH6 and we’ll only see new playlist tours until the game reaches EoL status.
I get what you’re saying. Mix Forza 4 with this forza multiplayer and would be a masterpiece. I still think it can get there.
Needs a quality of life update on a lot of features.
But there are listening and changing things so I have hope
What do you think we’ll be looking forward to in Update 21? Another track? Much needed audio improvements to specific cars? More resolutions to graphical issues and car specific visual bugs? Finally sacking of the FOMO mechanics?
