[INVESTIGATING] Sony Dualshock 4 not working in Forza 7

I just plugged in a brand new dualshock 7 into windows 10 and loaded Forza 7, it did not work. For some reason, there was no sound in game until I unplugged the dualshock 4. Once I unplugged it, everything seemed to be working. I plugged back in the controller, and the sound went off again! What the heck! Is anyone else having issues getting a DS4 to work in Forza 7?

Go to Playback Devices and disable the headphone jack on the DS4.

Or

You can use headphones but they must be plugged into the controller itself via aux input.

Thank you. Disabling headphone jack did fix the sound issue. I am still getting issues setting up the controller however. My setup screens seem very glitchy with the controller plugged in. And when I try to set up Gas/Brake to one of the sticks, it is definitely not working. When I go to set gas, it sets brake as ‘undefined’, and vice versa.

Is anyone able to get their DS4 working perfectly?

Since the driver is not bake in like the XBOX 360 and XBOX ONE family controllers. You either need to get or update the drivers. But I do not think official ones will update to that. And if you still have issues. Get a gen 3 XBOX ONE controller. It has Bluetooth. And the driver for the controller is already in it.

YES! I got it working perfectly! I had to use a program called inputmapper. I tried ds4windows but it was giving problems. I loaded up inputmapper, disabled headphone like KTVDS said and now it is working FLAWLESSLY! I’m happy as a clam now. I wish I didn’t have to load some 3rd party software on my computer to do this though. I’m not happy about that part, but I am happy to be able to play Forza with the DS4.

If anyone has any other tips to get the DS4 working without loading inputmapper, please post it here! And would someone please complain to Turn 10 about their buggy DS4 support?? They say they support the DS4 but they really don’t!

Well, I take it all back. The DS4 most certainly does not work without 3rd party software. It does not work natively and 3rd party software bugs out. The controller disconnects sometimes in the middle of multiplayer races. I’m not happy at all about it… Please fix it developers

Without trigger feedback which the Dualshock does not have ( I own a PS4) you are going to find throttle control and brake control very difficult. That is everything. Do yourself a favor and make sure to get a controller with trigger feedback.

Thanks for the comment but I don’t use triggers for throttle control and brake anyway. I bought this game and other equipment specifically because this game says it supports the dualshock 4, and it does not. I’m forced to use 3rd party programs to try to get it to work which are buggy and cause the controller to disconnect during races. I just want what is promised to me when I bought the game. I’d like to know if this is at least on some bug list to get fixed. I PM’d a Forza staff member who asked about this, I hope he responds soon with some type of update.

Best innovation since last 10 years of gaming. Who can people play without?
Playing Forza 7 with Dualshock is like driving with closed eyes

Is this going to be acknowledged at all? Investigated? This controller is listed as supported and it’s not!

Fine, if Turn 10 or their staff (@Soy) doesn’t want to at least mark this problem as being investigated, maybe Microsoft will for them. I have a case with Microsoft about this, case #14******33. I starred out some digits so someone else doesn’t try to interact with my case. This controller does not work with the game as claimed.

Here is the link to their claim at Gamescom,

There are also several places in the forum posted by Forza staff that claims this controller works with the game. It does not!

Is this problem going to even be recognized by Turn 10? Or do they just announce things like Dualshock 4 support without every really intending to do it? I will be asking for a refund if this isn’t addressed.

I’ve been using the above with my ds3. It works really well, Bluetooth and all!

It has settings in ther for ds4 so give it a go if you have not already. I don’t have any disconnects whatsoever and all controls are functioning properly.

I’ve been using this program for literally years and never had any issues.

Good Luck!

Bully.

Sorry to hear that you are having issues with your controller. I will look into this for you. Can you send me a PM on the forums?

Thanks,

Well, seeing that Nitro Glitter stopped PM’ing me back about this issue, I guess it’s because they can’t get it fixed! DS4 support is broken in this game…

Hey Forza staff, why don’t you just remove [Investigating] from the subject title since you’re really not going to investigate this… I want me money back. Turn 10 lied when they said this game supports the DS4. It does not.

Received this from Microsoft again today when I asked for support,

"Thank you so much for your patience. Upon checking with your Case, I have seen and verified that it is still being investigated and that it have been escalated. Rest assured, that this is being handled and that you will receive an email at m*****n@yahoo.com . "

I’m sick and tired of waiting for a response. I haven’t heard from nitro glitter since he first started interacting with me, never heard from Soy. I will want my money back for this if it doesn’t get resolved. I am tired of developers delivering a buggy game. I paid $100 for this game and it doesn’t work as promised!

Guess what! I’m getting a refund! Mods, you can close this thread! I’m done with Forza and with Turn 10. I will never buy another Turn 10 game again. Maybe now they will stop releasing a buggy game with peripherals they promise to work when they don’t. See ya!

FWIW I plugged in my DS4 via USB (first gen, I’ve been using an Xbox 360 controller in my PC up until now), and it worked right off the bat. No third party software, no downloading of additional stuff, nothing. Driver installed when I plugged it in, and away I went. Put the controller onto option 12, which assigns the right stick to going and stopping and that was it. Now the input isn’t quite there, as occasionally it’s not translated properly into the game, but I can confirm that FM7 does indeed support DS4, although it needs some more work to iron out the creases.

Button presses either don’t register first time, or a single button press can cause multiple presses, and skipping over menu items (d-pad). Same with the shoulder buttons, pressing once can cause several tabs to be skipped. I presser R1 once on the home screen and it skipped all the way across to the Progress tab, missing all of the other menu options. Also, the Options and Share buttons don’t work, so you can’t pause/quit etc.

Stick movement is a little hit and miss, either not registering at all, or overcompensating. Driving is extremely difficult, as it’s a lottery whether you go around a corner properly, not go round at all, or steer into the wall before you get there.

Hopefully this might help to pinpoint the problems, so that they can be fixed.

Found something in another thread that might help

If you have steam installed make sure it is shut down completely when playing by going to task manager and turning off
