Important launch/post launch info in Week in Review 9/15 and 10/27

Sounds more like they are giving people a chance to play the game without having to wait for a huge download. Also giving more people a chance to pick up the game before starting things like Forzathon that offer exclusive items.

More like giving people a chance to get some nice cars and the tuners/painters to create more content for the AH when it rolls out.

No one knows what the pre-order numbers are except T10/Microsoft. Coming up with conspiracy theories just to find ways to place blame and/or speak ill of T10 is getting ridiculous. No wonder the mods on the forums are getting so fed up and locking threads.

Having the Auction House be available on day 1 doesn’t stop people from being able to paint and tune their cars… It’s one of the most talked about “hey look at what’s new to FM7!” features that’s been dangled out in dev interviews.

Having the feature ready but holding it back from launch would just be bizzare.

Remember way back in the ancient year of 2016 when FH3 launched with an Auction House available at day 1? People sure didn’t seem to have a problem with it. In fact, the problems people did have were to do with the VIP features being “held back” on PC for about a week.

So for the Xbox One and Xbox One S, it is 95Gb to start with.

How big is this additonal update on 7th November?
What does this inflate the overall size of Forza 7 to?
Is it worth waiting to pull both updates down at the same time?

Wait so this will be double the size of Forza 6, even WITHOUT the 4K assets, is that true? 95GB even for original Xbox One owners?

So this one game will take up over 1/4 of a 500GB Xbox’s usable hard drive space.

Games are getting bigger. There’s no way around that. A recent Battlefield 1 update brings it close to Forza 7’s launch size. Updates are getting bigger. You can’t escape that either. A recent Doom update to gift all DLC maps to all players and revamp the game was 66 gigs. Launch updates are not uncommon. I’ve seen 20 gig launch updates. XB1 players have known for a long time that they can’t get by on a base level hard drive alone and not have to make hard decisions as to what to install on it.

For locking AH and storefront at launch… This is probably because they want people to actually play the game not spend the first week just porting content from Forza 6 and Horizon 3 in an effort to be first in the auction house or first on the suggested paint list. It gives new players a chance to catch up a bit and put out their own content.

I Just purchased FM7 on the Xbox one store, I purchased the ultimate edition but was shocked when I noticed the car pass was not in my downloads! Have i been scammed by turn 10? Also, the download of fm7 itself weighed in at 108 mb? I know this severely wrong so please can a mod or somebody explain to me what is going on?!!?

You’ll get all the content when it actually gets released. Also that 108MB is just a placeholder. On the 29th, at some point, it will start the download automatically. Even if your Xbox is off, as long as it’s in “Instant-On” mode it will get installed. This is normal for pre-order installs of digital games.

People want more cars and more tracks but the game should have only 40gb…

It’s always been reported as over 100GB, even on threads that are months old.

What we don’t know is will the download be smaller than the placeholder without 4K. In any event, 700 cars, 32 tracks, a couple of hundred ribbons and dynamic elements isn’t going to be small.

As for the complaining about leagues, forzathon and AH being enabled after launch. What each of these requires to function properly is critical mass, in other words a lot of active players. It makes sense to feed them in when there is sufficient activity. For those wanting the AH at launch, what on earth would you buy and sell? At this stage its entirely possible that we’ll start the game on zero CR and have to work through career and MP to build up some cash and cars before these features can be utilised anyway.

Yes but I think we all assumed, wrongly as it’s turned out, that that would be for Xbox One X owners only. And that the standard Xbox One install would be a lot smaller, and closer to the Forza 6 size.

So in the same vein, the game shouldn’t launch with more than the starting car because nobody would have the credits to buy them.

All it seems as it currently stands is that T10 isn’t able to meet the launch date with those features (features they’ve used for advertising), or they have 0 confidence in this game.

You have an odd way of looking at things.

The game launches with everything. Some features will be activated at the appropriate time. Cars will be available only after you unlock them or have the CR to buy them. Non of this has anything to do with the game not being ready.

Don’t be so negative, it’s like having Eeyore on the forum.

Games are continually getting larger. I remember complaining that Wolfenstein 3D was the first game I had to download that was over a MB. It took 4 hours over xmodem transferring from a local BBS.

It was a similar story for me when I downloaded all four floppies of Ultima IV on my “Lightspeed” 1200 baud modem.

Wow this sounds great and looking foward to it but there is a problem

  1. I want the AH on day one so I can sell cars I dont have to players with no credits and Buy Cars that no one has to sell with credits I dont have.

  2. I want Forzathons to start on day One so I can do the challenges with cars I dont have yet on Tracks I have not yet unlocked. So I can complain that Forzathon is not working as I’m doing it in the wrong car on the wrong track as the correct ones are not yet unlocked.

If memory serves Forzathons took about a month to kick of in Horizon 3

Im happy they have delayed the AH and Forzathons as this gives me time to earn some credits, XP and unlock enough cars and tracks to do any Forzathon they throw at us I hope.

Not big on MP so not an issues will give it a whirl after I have done the Solo campaign.
