I'm no longer able to AFK level up my cars?

Now that I’m on the same page. Yes, CarXP and everything associated with it is a definite downer within this game.

I have said that I don’t mind the system, but now that I’ve given it more thought, I do mind the system in one way. I can see the exact fault in it, because it’s a reverse Forza 4 system. Forza 4 made things too easy, after a few races a whole manufacturer was unlocked freely for tuning. That’s what this system is the antithesis of, in my eyes. It’s no longer what I want, but I also don’t want that old system either. Do we need the current system - no, we don’t. But will they fix it in a meaningful way - also no, because I can see them flipping the script completely and ruining the game in a similar vein.

But let people AFK. I mean, that was a feature in previous Forzas.

I think car leveling can stay. No issue with having car levels to unlock manufacturer discounts, or my previous suggestion of having brand specific race suits you can unlock (for instance, level up 5 McLaren’s to level 50, unlock a Team McClaren race suit). But yeah the unlocking car parts and needing to grind beyond that to earn enough car points to actually use them is just plain stupid.

Forza Motorsport this is a pretty cool feature and it only boosts your game numbers.
Passive gaming is becoming a big thing these days.

I’ve ALWAYS been pretty passive about my gaming. After all, it is just a game, no need to get all worked up.

All that’s changed now is that you need to hold down accelerator.

I have to ask, what would be the point of more stock car lobbies? Lets face facts here, forza’s whole gimmick, like gran turismo before it, has always been the building and tuning of cars. If you just go with stock cars, well, lots of other games do that way better than forza ever has, or likely could. Forza’s draw has always been the modification aspect. Take that out and the game is beaten in basically all other aspects by other games.

That doesn’t work. The “Are you still there?” message still pops up every 15 minutes.

LOL, so, let me get this straight… they patched a glitch to prevent unattended driving to level… and you posted a workaround on THEIR forum??? Add in the irony of invoking the name of Nietzsche, one of the greatest thinkers in World History.

Shrug. Works for me. Literally set a timer and it hadn’t popped a message after 25 mins.

They’re talking in past tense because it was already fixed. They haven’t just exposed an exploit that T10 can apply a fix to, it already happened and they’re pointing it out.

Not much great thinking going on indeed

Way better? No.

T10 already knew thousands of people were doing it, otherwise they wouldn’t have patched it. Also it’s not a glitch. And not an exploit either. Otherwise using colour blind filters (if you are not colour blind) in CoD to see your enemies better could also be called an exploit.

It was like an aimbot for blind people in CoD

Personally I wish people didn’t do the AFK thing. Not that I would call it a cheat or glitch, an exploit maybe, it’s exploiting a feature of the game to do something they probably didn’t intended after all. But I don’t care how much you cheat, glitch or exploit on your own personal time. And the fact it can be automated so easily just proves how pointless the whole XP system is.

No, my objection to it is that it rewards Turn10’s hateful system with free play time. Which increasingly seems like exactly what they wanted.

So, what was it? An issue with that one subjective word I used? Forza’s stock gameplay is worse than other racing games. It makes sense why it would be, because the scope of car modification means that corners end up being cut to fit it in the game. I’m not saying it’s a bad thing, just that it’s a consequence of the style of game that forza has always been. Having focus put on that stock play with the carPG system was a bad move, partially because it further shows up how inferior forza’s stock play is in comparisson to the competition.

Focusing more on what is one of the weaker aspects of the game is just a bit daft in my opinion, because if you do want that style of gameplay, there are better places to find it than forza.

This conspiracy-theory about T10 making AFK levelling and CarXP to inflate engagement numbers is laughable.

He thinks it’s a conspiracy theory.

CarPG could be replaced with some license test-esque upgrade tutorials that walks you through the basics of car components, with examples of tune modifications afforded via those components. That would be educational and engaging.

This would arguably been far less work than creating a kudos style XP system that offers the same linear path, being an actual educational tool as opposed to stopping you upgrading.

CaPG doesn’t teach anything about suspension upgrades, only that you can’t have them yet and when you do, you can modify suspension values.

Where do these learnings come into the whole driving a stock car thing? How are you learning about components by not having them? How are you learning about components by unlocking them?

A proper tutorial/experience system that talked you/showed you through the basics of tuning would be an exceptional feature, and given how important it is in multiplayer/rivals to be able to tune, people really should be taught.

You can’t centre your game around learning if the system doesn’t teach. A “mechanic school” would be an amazing exclusive feature for Forza but we went with XP bars.

It would take anyone semi-competent in video editing maybe a day to create a whole suite of small education videos highlighting important car properties. Couple that with a license test style environment to mess with whatever you’re learning about and drivers become hands-on with the upgrade and tune system.
