I'm no longer able to AFK level up my cars?

After installing the new update, the little trick to level up your cars using the AFK method (all driving assists on, test drive track, telemetry on, rubber band on the controller throttle input, wired to xbox), no longer seems to work. The game just pauses and calls it quits after a couple minutes instead of going on for hours. Is this an issue on my end or does it indeed have to do with the update? If so, please revert it back. And before someone comes in here saying “just play the game you lazy …” I have no interest in grinding a car for 2-3 hours to get it to level 35 where I finally have enough car points to put the upgrades on it I want on there. Upgrading & Tuning cars is a big part of the game for me, which I’m currently being denied (or at least limited in). If I have to manually level up each individual car for 2-3 hours before I can have fun upgrading and tuning it, that’s a big part of the fun gone for me. The AFK trick was the only way around that. Which seems to have stopped working now.

on console you always had to push a button or nudge the steering every couple of minutes to keep the controller alive.

Still works here (Xbox)… Telemetry view forces the game to run longer before it stops, but you still can’t go away for hours as the controller shuts down and the game pauses.

Currently doing this on the Jesko and managed to run out of fuel with no way of making it back to the pit… Had to reststart the race and lose my progress :joy:

Not the case, if you connected the controller to your Xbox via usb cable, the controller would stay on. The issue I have now is that eventhough the controller is still on, and connected, the game just goes into a pause menu.

Of course THAT was really important to patch out. Unbelievalble how far t10 has fallen. On of my best friends is a diehard PS fan and I could always say Xbox has the better racing game when it comes to GT/Forza… Can’t say that anymore :unamused:

I experienced the same issue, I thought that maybe I’d forgotten a step so I need to try again. If this “fix” was intentional, then Turn 10 is just revealing their unmitigated arrogance in the belief that this is a good system.

I glad T10 fixed this, as I was not exploiting this.

How Cares what you do?

It´s Patched for PC

lmao nice. glad they patched this

Imagine being so incredibly unintelligent that you cheer Turn10 for fixing something that didn’t negatively affect anyone, instead of fixing the hundreds of game breaking issues that are affecting tens of thousands (Or more) people who paid actual money for a product.

No you didn’t. If you brought up the telemetry screen it would run for hours unattended.

Why don’t bring the top level of a car to 100 or 200? Since comunity look happy that they fixed this way of exping a car, but not addressing the tons of gamebreaking bugs, Turn 10 can very well increase the grinding and, maybe, sell car already exped.

If Turn10 removes afk leveling without reworking the system beforehand then that will be the final nail in the coffin for many.

a idle timer is maybe the most weak method to prevent afk leveling
nothing is more easy to work around

Just did test this out, it’s 15 mins before it starts nagging ““are you still playing”” with or without telemetry and controller connected to usb.

And this is on pc.

People that would be happy to see AFK grinding patched don’t realize that if it’s patched, Turn10 loses on precious game time. People do AFK grinding to be able to bear that pointless grind. Take that away from them, and they won’t bother with FM8 ever again.

The truth has been spoken. Definitely will cost T10 A LOT of in-game play time.

T10 need to understand that we don’t afk leveling for credits or driver level. It’s just to save my free time from work and other unfunny things.

Exactly. I don’t give a toss about credits, driver level, or anything other than just getting my car to a level where I can upgrade and tune it to where I’m happy to race with it.
