How to make FM 2023 the best sim game on a Fanatec DD Pro

READ BEFORE USING SETTINGS: As someone who tracks high end Porsches (and other cars) in real life, I can say with confidence that Forza Motorsport is the best game around for real driving physics… I realize how absurd that statement is to some sim “experts” so hear me out and try my settings and it will change your life. I just went back to GT7 and it feels like a cheap arcade game now.

First of all, THERE ARE SO MANY PROBLEMS WITH THIS GAME. It’s super buggy. But physics and car (physics) models are not one of them at least most of the models that are newer). And because the sounds and physics models are so much better than in GT7 and maybe even ACC and iRacing, when the graphics are working, it beats those out for in cockpit view immersion. And with added immersion, with accurate physics, comes better practice stimuli.

With the Cayman model, 992 GT3, and G80 M3 and M2, I can say from personal experience the models are so so good that I actually for the first time believed in a road model car in a game (GT3 needs a ffb boost in its tuning setting as), and I found myself responding with natural mannerisms (and habits, some bad) that I have in real life in these cars. Which was trippy!

Very cool. But considering how bad GT7 slip physicals and car control are, it’s a low bar. As for other games, AC is too outdated and their models are no longer relevant. ACC is great but it’s all race cars.

I digress. Here are the deets:

Now for PC set up, l’m playing on a 3080Ti on Ultra quality settings but zero ray tracing and the game runs great and looks fantastic most of the time (shame ray tracing is so broken, but it will be improved one day). And I have noticed slightly different levels of ffb detail on Xbox.

Second, I’m on a fanatec DD GT Pro. And here’s why people don’t know just how good the physics are (I feel bad for the devs, but they should have educated people better from the start)…

The in game engine is so complex that if you try to override the ffl settings, or get them wrong, you’re gonna have a bad time.

So you have to get Fanatec out of the way first. For realism, this is the most important logic above even the in game settings.

Here are the proper settings (non negotiable for the most part) in the first photo. Notice how almost everything is off. This is the ticket. Too much going on in the games physics to try and override with fanatec adjustments. The in game physics engine will express the car models properly this way.

Now, for accurate car physics behavior in general, you’ll want to start with my in game settings in photo 2. But this is the part that can be fairly personal. If you know what you’re doing you can adiust from there but I love these settings. I think a little extra feedback makes up for the lack of G Force. If you want to adjust anything try out adjusting load sensitivity up or down for more or less detail, or overall ffb to scale force.

Note: each car could use possible ffb tuning in their tune settings, especially the gt3 as it’s too weak compared to real life. And some are too strong etc. adiust based off preference.

And…… Happy driving guys! Hope this helps. Drives me nuts seeing people trash this game when it’s clearly superior from a technical stand point, at least when the graphics performance behaves…
