How do I get to main menu to assign wheel

New to Xbox and forza so some basic questions I have googled and searched the forums with no luck.

My Thrustmaster TX wheel is not showing up in the devices and accessories settings.
Also when I launch F6 it goes strait into racing the Ford GT in Rio I believe and I can not get to a main menu.
It will only go to the pause menu with no place I can find to set up the steering wheel.

Pretty basic stuff, but I just can’t seem to figure it out.

Have you synced it to your Xbox?

You will have to run the 1st race with the pad. Then the game will get you to the place you can log out and log back in with the wheel.

OK, cool. I finished that Race and it took me to LimeRock. I still don’t have the option to configure wheel.
Do I have to finish this race to get it unlocked?
How the hell do you quit the game. I went back to home screen and quit, but it starts right back where I was.

I think you have to complete the first three races if i remember correctly.

Then you have the option to quit race.

Once back on the menu screen press B on the controller untill you get to the screen with the Ford GT tail-light

Turn on your wheel and allow to calibrate.

Then press A on the wheel to enter main menu.

If pressing A on the wheel does nothing, turn your controller off and a message onscreen prompts to re-assign a controller.

Press A on the wheel and away you go.

Its only this complicated on first intitial start up.

From then on turn wheel on XBL homescreen and can enter the game using the wheel everytime.

From there go to settings a adjust the wheel settings by pressing X on the controller/wheel page to your liking.

Note if you have the New XBox Experience from the preview program you can’t use the wheel anywhere outside the game, which gets anoyingly cumbersome fast …

Sweet, That did it. The wheel is working.
Well I still have another issue.

The paddle shifters seem backwards to me.
The left paddle is up shift and the right is down shift.

I can’t find a way to switch then so the right paddle is the upshift and the other is down/

I was driving a lotus F1 and a Austin Martin.
I would figure that the Lotus would be right paddle upshift

Thanks Got it all working, pretty sweet.

Issue I have now is the paddle shifters are backwards, The wheel config has the left paddle as up shift.
Im driving the Lotus F1 and a Austin Martin. Does the car matter which one is up shift?

Im so used to having the up shift on the right, I can’t seem to drive the other way.
Even the wheel has it stamped on the right paddle as “up”
Is there a way to have them switched around so the right is the up shift?

Go to options in the main menu of the game and then go to controllers. Maybe something got changed from default settings. Good luck.
