Honest thought about FM 2023 after 600 hrs racing

Background
I’m just a avid adult racer with about 12 - 16 hrs a week or sometimes less. Just enjoy racing after work or on my day off. I also have AC but haven’t dived in that much as FM.
Cockpit view with extra dashboard (will listed below)
I mostly race (wheel) Multiplayer - Touring (my favorite) and sometimes Formula Mazda, Class racing E to A. I will try GT 2-3 later with TC Sport on and more work/learning on brake and thottle.
I don’t do Career much so I don’t care about FOMO, I guess. So I won’t discuss about this.

Gear
Playseat - Challenge (Chair)
From Xbox Series X now on PC
From Logitech G920 to now Moza R5 bundle with (ES wheel mod, or GT wheel mod) with brake kit upgrade.
Old Iphone extra dashboard connect via Simhub.
Single OLED Tv 48"

Thought
I have played this game after couple of months since it came out because I was hesitating with a huge download on Xbox and lots of bad feedback about this game. But it’s free so I did download and tried it. I started with G920 default and it was ok. I could not drive properly and control the car. Spinning and side slide til the point I want to delete the game. Then went only looking for setting up the wheel and then tunning. I was, at that time was flooded with tons of videos and information which Idk where to start. And slowly I can get a bit setting for the wheel and paddles, find tuning for car balance and refine and refine until I starting to enjoy driving. Learning tracks and track tutorial, trail braking, and more refine on tuning for each car make me drive better. Because of those, I upgrade to Moza R5 and I feel more confident and detail of FFB and turning, after browsing thru tons of setting tutorials, lol. I then turn off ABS, TC, Satiability Control and set dead zone for not locked up. And you can have the feel of the cars after tunning or adjusting ARB or camper or downforce or etc. After sometimes from last quarter of the board move to middle and from 3800 to close to 4900 point. Always trying to keep my rating A and S. And monthly update keep improving my driving likeness for FM and I am now more fond on racing Multiplayer. Nothing is perfect, system is not and never be perfect but there were and are significant improvement with pixel and total time advanced for off track, like penalties system, radar, more tracks, bit more option for racing. Of course penalties still suck sometimes for crashes where I am the victim and I got Penalty, not the others. And talking about dirty racers out there. It is inevitable, they are there in every race, take you out every corner, tabbing you slowly til u off race line and off track but not all that is bad, some game were awesome with responsive driving, space giving and respect each others, like the game I just had and made me think to write this. 4 of us fighting for 2nd to 5th for 2 laps, no serious crash happened, just some trade paint and off track to avoid collisions.
In general and after many updates, I find FM is a really decent game to race for beginner like me and others and for both Graphic and Physics. Tunning is great if you getting along with all the setting and tweak them accordingly, and I’m still learning til now and fine tune more. Games these days aren’t and never be great but updating game base on community feedback is essential. And for another year with improvement, we don’t need another FM for another 3 years.
Need more
I just hope FM have more official racing cup like I saw on GT for weekly race or monthly race with point and leader board if you register or just jump in some requirement race sessions. Because I don’t have friend racing here and no private lobby that I know of, but mostly I only race when I’m free, I work on weekend too so it is hard.
More Spec racing
Live dial/level tunning ABS and TC and Brake Bias
More tracks, obviously. or even bring back more tracks from the past.
More telemetry info for UDP Dashboard, like many ppl post in community, like total of tracks, leaderboard, tire compound and etc…

Improvement
Penalties System overall. Long period/sequence crash penalties base on driving behavior and turning point. Less favor for controller driving/crashing. Or penalty give out at the end of every lap for more accurate.
Safety Lobby sorting is more accurate as Safety driving.
I’m not a pro racing so those are all I can think of.

All and all, happy racing.
Thank all of your input to make this game better

Thank you for constructive feedback. We don’t always get this. Some people just come in overflowing with melodrama and drop a worthless rant wanting thirty seconds of attention.

I don’t remember everything you’ve touched on but there’s more content (including tracks) on the way. Turn 10 announces upcoming content and features and we alright know Bathurst is next on the track content update list. Regarding penalties, I’ve seen a lot of feedback on it, including from myself. In fairness, even in reality with actual human intelligence studying racing incidents, there’s often controversy and differing opinions, and it’s no doubt more tricky when it’s down to some lines of programming code to make the decisions. I know it can be frustrating but I’m trying to be fair here by acknowledging that it can’t be as easy to program better penalty decisions as we think it is. Hopefully it will be fine-tuned as we go forward, though, and Turn 10 is open to feedback on it.

The game’s okay I think despite all the updates. I’ve a feeling that AC Evo and the next Project Cars game (Project Motor Racing I think) are absolutely going to blow Forza out of the water. They are passionate about the little details and obsess over them in fact. The depth and nuance will be something to appreciate.

Forza believes it has no competition. They might be dead wrong about that.

Some healthy competition should push them to move the game forward in all areas hopefully. This iteration is missing much more than it gained, although the online has improved over the past games. I really miss the storefronts, sharing cars and clubs, and great engine/exhaust audio. Definitely better than release day, they’ve made progress👍

Obviously, there will be more competition about sim racing. AC Evo looked promising but standalone for free on Gamepass, til this point, it is a worth for beginner. If Turn10 still want to be in the race, they have to do more than just now. I totally agree about that. But as listen to gamers and audiences, a year from now, turn 10 probably can tag along with other games and attract a decent amount of racers around the world.

@speedters996 - Games these days with lots of promises and lacking or contents out of the box. But with Kunos, I hope they will deliver better than industry standard.

Hopefully, Microsoft won’t hold them back and allow them to release the game as and when they want while fully utilising the Series X hardware.
