I’m not sure why gifting cars to friends isn’t an option but I can gift a car to a hall of famer? Also it’s not exactly super fun to get other people’s garbage as “gifts”.

Cuz they can’t sell you a car pack if you get them all from friends.
Joking aside, because it wouldn’t be fair to gift for example an extremely expensive car to a specific person (which you also cannot do with the other gift options) especially in a Game like Horizon.
as far as I know they said too that, gifting cars to friends could lead to “cars sellers” with real money… and that is prob against ToS.

It happened before in previous Froza games, players selling Unicorn cars for hundreds of real world dollars. They said they would never implement the features again.
It doesnt prevent the real money thing. In FH4 was some person driving around in a 599XX Evo with some url on it was linked to some ebay auction. If you paid real money he put one of his 599XX on ingame auctionhouse for 8.7M (btw this was avg price anyway). Youtubers selling cars for real money, and so on

Of course creative people will find a workaround, but using AH method will always has risk of it being sniped by someone else, unlike straight away giving which
is guaranteed.
If you could gift to friends, then it would be easy to exploit the system by creating second and third accounts to give cars to your main account…although it’s unlikely this is the reason for it though but I sometimes like to give PGG the benefit of the doubt (sometimes!)

It doesn’t help you only see a box in the barn, why not show the car? 
Its to stop people making real money by selling cars on ebay. This will be against XBox rules.
Yes, I know it probably happens now but via the auction house.
That would mean they would have to model each car in a barn. Easier just to do a box. The cut scene is always the same and in day time, even when i’ve visited at night time.
It would be good to be able to disable the gift messages. I agree that the sort of cars people will typically receive as gifts won’t be worth the effort of going to collect them and sitting through the unskippable cutscene.
Seems there is a limit now how much u can gift per day. For me its easier now to simply delete the car wich makes the gift feature useless
… what is totally missing is the shared team/club garage we had back in at least FMS 4.

As I have all cars available in the garage and have a balance of more than 100 000 000 credits I gift all cars that are legendary or will sell for more than 200 000 credits in the wheelspin. I gifted already some Lambo Sesto FE and the Pagani Huayra FE as well as some Mclaren F1 GT and even a Ferrari 250 Testarossa
Sad enough I didn’t even get a thank you for that car…

I gift all dupes to “New Players”. One thank you. It’s a sad state that no one can even click on a send thank you button. Regardless of what car it is, someone just gave you a free car, and you can’t say thanks? I’m almost to the point that all cars will just get deleted.
When I get the message that I have been “gifted” a car, I do not even bother trying to collect it. The odds of it being a desirable (to me) car are so low, collecting the car will just likely mean I need to go remove it from my own garage.
Kudos? No real value in the game as far as I can see, just a weak attempt to make the game more “social”. Gifting cars is a hard pass, in either direction.

True, I expected more from the system… thought that you might get rewarded somehow by the amount of kudos you get. But it is funny how I am trying to send everyone only the best but majority of the players are gifting only the cheapest… props to those in here who are trying their very best to actually please the players, so… kudos to you, gentlemen!
A question for you. If you don’t collect these gifted cars do they just go away after time, or do they remain? If they remain, does the game keep nagging you about them? If they remain, but you are not constantly reminded that you have a gift car, that is fine, but I really dislike most of the nags built in the game that seem to pop up and the most inconvenient times.
I have yet another reason for not wanting them beside what you mentioned. I really don’t want to get a ban because I have a car in my garage with a ban able livery that I got as a gift and I really don’t want to have to take the time to inspect each gift car in forza-vision just to see. Yeah, I could just delete it straight away, but then why bother to collect it?
It’s because they don’t want people charging real money. Obviously. They never should have brought it back.
Every car i´m been gifted i send a thank you message and after the message i delete the car
