Imagine having to go through multiple garages to find one car though? Plus it’d then get even more confusing to work with when you apply the sort options.
Simply having the layout like Forza 3/4 where you can set different car groups yourself and named them and I’ll be satisfy…but to bring things further, may be having to purchase garage space a fun idea as we’re honestly lacking some gameplay element in FM, credits are so easy to earn that most of them are wasted anyways.
For example, you first starts with a garage with only a few slots in them(may be that’s your house), then when you’re running out of space, there will be different type of garages you can purchase with in-game credits(or tokens). There’ll be things like a proper car garage, big warehouse, etc, for you to chose to store your cars, you can name and group each of them so when you’re playing multiplayers you can easily sort them out and pick the cars you want quicker. Then for Autovista, you can view/take photo of multiple cars at the same time(in something like a warehouse garage).
I thought the Project Gotham garages were really cool. I think it would be really cool to have something like that, at least as you go through in single player. Maybe still have it just like F4, being able to sort your cars into favorites and what not, just have each folder be its own garage. Our own little Jay Leno’s garage! During online, have the normal car selection, just as a few have already said make the image 3D rotatable image, not just a thumbnail. Again, keep them in the sorted “folders/garages”. I think something ALOT better than how F5 is absolutely needed, whatever it ends up being. But there’s alot that you can say that about with F5. Crossing my fingers and toes Turn 10!!
Maybe an auto-expanding homespace depending on the number of cars you own would work, say going from a two-car home garage to a massive hangar. But now I’m thinking of a “garage” that actually looks like a huge car show you could roam around Forzavista-style. A space like this with displays and placards you could examine to learn historical details and specs would be glorious:
I reckon a really nice, clean way to present the garage would be to have all the manufacturers laid out alphabetically in a table then you scroll across/down to whichever you want and press A.
Then all the cars you own in that manufacturer would be displayed.
At least that way you wouldn’t have to scroll through hundreds of cars like you have to in FH2.
I would rather just have the cars in tiles like they already are but this time bring back the grouping like what was in Forza Motorsport 4 w/ possible colour coding or seeing a title above the group.
Or just put back favourite car like you had in forza Motorsports 2 you could essentially pin you your car to the front of your garage it would put a star next to it and it would be at the front of the pile instead of endlessly scrolling through hundreds of cars or use this favourite car star again but add a file pin system e.g red star=Aclass blue star=Rclass and so on…
FH4 was great, please move it back in that direction… and yes bumpers suck when getting to the VW. Especially after you buy it and are kicked back out to the beginning…only to go to Toyota.
Strictly from the buy car menu, yea. You used to be able to skip multiple manufacturers at a time. Its annoying skipping several times and only moving accross 5-6 cars.
Personally I can’t stand the FH layout that was incorporated into this menu. Idc about seeing every freaking car in the game at once if I’m only looking for Toyota’s, for example.
I think, ultimately, what we are seeing is there should be some options. Forza is supposed to bring car culture to every one, so we all have different needs. For some the garage needs to be utilitarian, for selecting cars and getting to races. For others, it is a vehicle for viewing your collections, your paint jobs, etc. And than for many others, the garage falls somewhere in between.
Based on what they have done in the past, and what other games have done successfully, they should be able to come up with a flexible solution. That is why companies hire UI developers.
For the Dealership Menu, I’d like to see way more sorting options, along the lines of FM4. I’d also like the base menu sorted by Manufacturer, like GranTurismo, pick a manufacturer, see the cars. If you choose to sort by say, 8cyl, then the standard manufacturer first menu goes away and drops you into a FH2 style look up.
I’d also like to see some sort of garage, maybe customizable, but with only 10 slots for favorites, +1 for your current active car. Something like Test Drive: Unlimited. Then people can visit your garage, and if they are your friends, they can “borrow” cars for a test drive.
I’m one of those people, maybe the only one(lol), but I would play a version of Forza that was nothing but painting and customizing cars like a “speed shop/fab shop/body shop sim”. Probably sounds agonizingly boring to alot of you. I would just love to have a means of building cars and trucks how I want and have always dreamed of building. Cant do it in real life, same as the racing I do in Forza.
Anyway, I think the garages would be cool if you could customize your own space. Even if it was only 10-20 spaces for favorite cars. Have the standard Forza 4 style for the whole thing but a favorites garage. Maybe have it so you could make it like as you use certain cars you unlock signs and race memorabilia from each manufacturer. Remember NFL 2k5? How you had your apartment to unlock stuff and display trophies and stuff. Something like that based on affinity. Have you friends be able to look at/tour your garage, drive your cars.
I dont know. Too much? We can brainstorm the Minecraft idea some more!
garage setup like PGR would be amazing for Forza. It would combine the Forzavista experience with the garage. And that would be perfect. go from car to car with minimal load times if any at all. I love the idea
Thought maybe it would be nice to have a class-divided garage. Like one favorite car representing each class for a selection/home page, and it would bring up content and championships for that class after you select that part of your garage.
