Bug: Uncontrolled swerving of the AI
System: PC & Xbox
There’s a massive problem with uncontrolled swerving AI cars (drivatars) especially at the start of a race. This is extremly bad during Horizon Tours where it can have a massive negative impact not only for the player experience but also the outcome of a race.
Example:
This behaviour gets worse the higher the class (PI) gets and is short before “game braking” IMO.
One thing is for sure. It certainly doesn’t leaves a positive taste and needs to be addressed ASAP.
Seems like theyre just emulating players who carr constatly swering and pu ting one another.
The “best” part is when they swerve sideways at a significant fraction of the speed of light and instantly bump you off the track. That’s so much fun.

I saw drivatars swerving off track and coming back fullpace 90° to the driving direction litterally shooting players of the track and causing massive havoc in the field. The AI simply doesn’t slows down and even tries to get the control back in such situations. Instead it goes full throttle with the respective results. It’s totally insane!
Btw, in the video you can also see that a drivatar (Rami in the red Countach) is missing a checkpoint and gets placed last on the board because of the swerving.
I thought I could at least use it as training, but then when I actually go online and do open races people are mostly cool. Not as often in tours and trials, but if the ai is doing THIS and it’s coded into the game, then isn’t it basically teaching players that it’s okay?

I actually think the first one wasn’t an attack but simply a mess up by the AI. With the second one it’s definitely clear but I saw much worse and more deliberate succesfull and unsuccessfull actions like blocking, ramming, pushing and so on.
The thing is that I wouldn’t throw the aggressive AI behaviour towards players into the same pot as the swerving. That’s infact a seperate topic because it’s obviously deliberate and intentionally done (programmed into the game). The swerving on the otherhand seems to be going more into the direction of something getting out of control.
It looks quite calculated to me. But everything is is subjective. don’t think you’d get away without a penalty on a real track, though. Definitely seen worse but that one got me because it seemed to me like it baited them.
I really doubt that it’s ment to be that way. It’s not that bad in SP or in the seasonal trials for example where you’ve the same mix of players and drivatars and seems especially exaggerated in the Tours. At least to my experience.

Maybe me then, but it reminded me of Schumacher vs. Barichello in 2010.
In some cases bugs will not be fixed due to a variety of reasons such as the feature becoming obsolete, the feature is currently intended and working as expected, or a risk of creating larger issues when attempting to fix.
