Content Update: Was this happening prior to the most recent content update or did it start after the update?
Also importantly, we need to separate issues to diagnose them. Please use this thread only if you are experiencing the exact issue the first post describes. If you are experiencing something else, reply to a different topic on your issue or create a new one and be sure you clearly identify the bug in the topic title.
Why was the original thread closed!!! Patch 1.1 didn’t fix the issue! Lost another 4 races! Boooooo
Still screwed for me. Played Track Exotics in FXX ok, then finished Builders Cup/Built for Speed/Mugello. Then tried to upgrade Merc for Super Sedans and hung.
Gameplay circumstances: Hanged applying upgrades to Merc 2016 C63S FE, applied exhaust after finishing Mugello in the builders cup in the Supra for the FORTH time.

Content Update: since last update (hotfix) 24th october
I’m on the PC version, it seems the freezing or not saving the progress happened after adjusting the fuel level before the race, I tried 3 races without changing the fuel, and progress was saved with no issues.
Bug Info: After finishing race 3 of 5 (Silverstone) of the Super Sedans in Career mode I went to buy a car.
Upon attempting to buy the 2016 Porsche 911 GT3 RS the game hung on trying to complete the purchase of the car. The only way out was to force close the game. Lost progress on career, have to race Silverston again.
Platform: Steam
Edition: Premium

PC GPU: Nvidia RTX 2070 driver 545.84
Peripheral: Logitech G29 driver 2023.8.459147
Settings: Medium render RT off, mix of medium to Ultra settings
Attempted fixes: Restarted game
Content Update: Game hung and lost progress once before Update 1.0, then several times after but when applying upgrades. This is the first time game hung post 1.1 update but the first time it hung when buying a car (though I have not bought many)
Gameplay circumstances: Racing is fine, car doesn’t seem to matter, this has happened across 10+ different cars, if I notice I can no longer save photos mid-race I can still complete the race, but if I exit the game after, that race will not be saved, if I attempt to paint a car, apply upgrades or purchase a car after I notice I’m unable to save photos, the game will hang on loading - Regardless of if I do it between event menus or from the main menu.
Platform: Windows PC
Edition: Game Pass
Account: Solo Account
PC GPU: AMD 6800XT (Driver: 23.9.3 - the two later versions would constantly ‘load shaders’ and didn’t make a difference in the loading bug)
Peripheral: Xbox Elite Controller
Settings: 2560 x 1080 on high settings, all assists off except ABS, no accessibility
Xbox Settings: N/A
Attempted fixes: Support ticket is open, when I saw that photos weren’t saving mid-game indicating the issue was happening, I tried disconnecting and reconnecting network, no difference, I verified I was still online and able to access Xbox Gaming Services and interact with the Microsoft Store, quit back to main menu, applied upgrades to a car and the bug occurred.
I have also left it on ‘applying upgrades’ for nearly 2 hours and came back to the same, forcing me to terminate the game.
The no fuel/tyre change doesn’t affect me, I’ve done many races without touching it and the bug will hit, I have noticed it most often happens after the second race, I can load in, do two career races but the third race has the highest probability of the issue occurring, I can leave the game running for an hour in between the first two races but by the third one the bug will still occur regardless.
Content Update: This has happened since launch for me with no notable improvement.
Sidenote: This does strongly appear to be cloud save related, Car XP and credits are saved locally and never get lost, the only thing that does get lost is career progression.
It appears to me that something in the background process is unable to communicate to upload cloud saves, then when you perform an action that results in a save (e.g painting, upgrading or purchasing) the game is hanging and waiting for confirmation of the cloud save before letting the player progress.
I’m really confused why this hasnt even been diagnosed yet - this forum, reddit, twitter etc are full of people pointing out this issue since the first day of early access - it’s a really common game-breaking bug that a lot of players are experiencing during every play session, and surely the Forza team didn’t think that today’s bug fix of one specific event in the Builders Cup was all that the reported issues were related to? Has nobody on the team come across this bug themselves while playing the game? I’m surprised if not
Anyway:
Gameplay circumstances: Happens regularly (~50% of the time) while applying upgrades mid-cup. Does NOT happen when upgrades are applied after you’ve exited a cup and then entered again. I.e. the issue is related to progress not properly saving/syncing with the cloud while a sequence of cup events are ongoing, meaning progress of the most recent cup race is often lost because the game refuses to apply the upgrades.
Workaround: This can be worked around by manually quitting to main menu after each cup race (which seems to force the game to save the current progress?), then re-entering the career mode once more, and then applying the upgrades. If you do this every time you never seem to hit the bug, so the bug is linked to whatever processes are in the background to monitor and sync progress with the cloud after cup events.
The saving mechanism applied when a player manually exits out of a cup to the main menu seems to work properly. However, the method used to save and sync progress when a player stays within a cup event sequence seems buggy. Based on some other poster’s findings, my best guess is there might be an issue in the code handling transitions between events, e.g. due to methods being called in the wrong sequence or with wrong parameters. E.g. is the current upgrade state being deleted in preparation for an overwrite, but then somehow being called again before the new data are written?

Peripheral: none
Settings: Ultra, no DLSS, 4k, mix of ultra and high individual settings
Xbox Settings: n/a
Attempted fixes:
- The recent patch did not fix the issue.
- The only known workaround I’ve found is to exit to the main menu after each race. This seems to force a save and sync with the cloud, avoiding the infinite ‘upgrade in progress’ loading screen.
Content Update: Was happening before and after update
I’m having the exact same issue on a 4070 Ti with same spec otherwise as above.
It just freezes, sometimes crashes, but mostly freezes for anything between one and several seconds. In multiplayer, it drops you back.

When apply the car upgrade with Race Exhaust after entering 2nd race@ “PONY Car SHOWDOWN” , FM23 hangs there, have to force quit, when restart, lost the just finish race.
Dear Community Manager, Why mark the orignal thread solved and lock it ? Do you check with the OP to see if this is real fix ?
Gameplay circumstances: (Car:1971 AMC Javelin AMX, Menu:Performance - UPGRADE SHOP - Fuel and Air - Exhaust -RACE . EVENT:Builders cup -->Power Tour → PONY Car SHOWDOWN → right after entering 2nd race, adjust the performance)

Quick update: Still hit the lost the progress issue
lost race in C8 series After complete the first race in C8, exit the event → main menu → exit to desktop . Start the FM23, then the first race in C8 series is mark as new. lost one race there.
The hotfix works for me now !!! T10 team, thank you !!!
Just finish the PONY and start the C8 !
In the PONY series, upgrade car 4 times, 1 failed, other 3 succeed ! Restart FM23 3 times, one with race lost, Other 2 are good.
Will try FM23 on XSX later on.
Yes, Looks not very stable. still lost the progress.
Did another C8 exit and restart, FM23 keeps the progress this time, but last time, FM23 losts one race.
Just run the PONY/C8 two series, the improved area for me is FM23 1.1 can move to C8 directly whithout the loading event data comparing with before.
Heads up I completely reset from full reset removed everything as if a new console set console back up and reinstalled the game for the 3rd time to try and resolve the issue… it didn’t work still progress not saving.
Keeps happening on my XSX also… so infuriating.
Same, Lost the progress on XSX.
Hang on save replay after the race [C8 series race 5/6 ], force quit and then lost the last race progress.
For each race, I upgrade the car with 1 part each, works for me.
Hit the LOADING EVENT DATA issue. When move from C8 to next series POWER REWARD SHOW CASE, then LOADING EVENT DATA ----> REMOTE DATA YET NOT AVAILABLE loop.

Content Update: after the update 1.1
After the XBOX server X update, it is still unable to save progress. Upgrading, buying a car, entering the next series will still get stuck, and restarting the game will lose progress
Dear T10 team, The issues are back to day 1, with so many reports forth and back , the lost progress/hang is still block the builder cup race. With the 1.1 we are full of hopes on it. Turn out we are back to the loop.
Is there anyway you guys can do it better ? The FM23 looks like 80% finish commercial product ? this is not what MS or T10 should release to public.
Would like suggest to recall and rework.
Same thing here. In addition to not loading, progress is lost. This is disappointing. I hate you Turn 10. Just get better.
It’s also been happening after I finish an event then I go to the next series and go to buy a car for it and infinitely loads on “buying car”… I’m so over bugs like this that are just game breaking. Straight up wasting peoples time playing this game.
