Forza Touring Cars - February 2025 Balance Update

As per the patch notes thread for Update 17, the Forza Touring Cars category has been redone.

I figured I’d post a dedicated thread here where people can share tunes, thoughts, meta testing etc. to see if this is an improvement on previous balancing :slightly_smiling_face:

BoP table below for reference:

Featured Multiplayer Car Balancing Changes [All Platforms]

The main Series Spec / BoP changes in Update 17 are focused on the Forza Touring Car Series, alongside the addition of the 2021 Hyundai #98 Bryan Herta Autosport Elantra N.

As part of this re-tuning process, all Forza Touring Cars were reverted to stock parts (except for tire width to normalize) and re-tuned with feedback from Insiders. With that in mind, the percentages seen below are in relation to the stock cars.

Car Power Weight Drag Front Downforce Rear Downforce

Below is a suggestion thread that would allow players to use these specs in Private Multiplayer and Free Play, if implemented. Marking it as a Solution for visibility as it would be quite a beneficial feature for players:

My first thought and thing I’d like to figure out when the update drops is:

  • How good/different is the SUBARU Levorg on tyre wear?

Previously, it often had a completely different tyre strategy to other cars, due to being Rear-Wheel Drive. You could sometimes no-stop races where others were forced to come in for fresh tyres, putting you at a significant advantage on certain tracks (Indianapolis GP springs to mind).

Tire wear is still the same. To make up for this it got a pretty hefty power nerf, but it’s still very strong overall.

Copying comment from Update 17 thread

Was the Astra the fastest pick? Thought the RS3 had the most pace (losing to the Levorg in terms of tire wear)

Was going through bop changes and noticed it’s the only one that’s had a fully negative adjustment

Unless the changes to the RS3 and rest of the roster were more significant than the smaller changes to the Astra; maybe I’m not looking at the changes with the right context

It looks like these changes will further help the Levorg be the tire management pick, with even less weight

I felt like it had the tire strat advantage on very specific track/distance combinations, but there were some where you could mimic in any of the FWD picks (eg hard no-stopper @ Laguna) if you knew how to manage the fronts

I’d routinely have races in the RS3 where I’d sacrifice maybe half a second a lap to preserve the fronts to gain a big advantage on the final two laps. Under driving still had me keeping up with the Levorg

If some of the adjustments look strange, people need to keep in mind that the builds were reset to stock outside of some tire width normalization. These adjustments were then made from these new builds.

Ah! Thought they were continuous

They have destroyed the GTI with this new BOP… 316hp really? Now it looks more like the TCR version for the street than for racing. Which is 350hp and before the previous nerf it was 370/380hp…

They also added the number of laps in the race. In 8 minute races (actually now lasts 10), soft tires used to be enough, now they are not. Maple Valley was 5 laps, now it’s 6. Silverstone was 7 laps, now it’s 9. My tires are wearing out and there is still 1-1.5 laps to go in the race. Meanwhile, LeVorg rides off into the sunset, posting consistently high lap times with no problems (soft).

Well, it seems that this rebalancing has not served any purpose, everything has gone from bad to worse…

Hopefully they will adjust the race lengths. The Levorg is always a balancing problem because of RWD. I’m not sure of the right balancing answer. Expect a potential nerf if it’s always an issue. The rest of the cars are looking closely balanced. Forzaverse TC guys are thrilled at how close they are.

Are they very well balanced? The Golf GTI has the same engine as the Audi RS3 and it gives 48hp less. Is that a good balance? They have destroyed the Golf GTI with the new BOP…

Here I leave a list of all the cars that are in the previous and current TCR and look at their technical sheets

You obviously haven’t driven them down a straight side by side. Numbers on a sheet mean nothing in the game. They have very similar straightline speed and top ends.

I’ve been driving the GTI since the game came out. I’ve seen its prime, its biggest nerf… and before this update it had 30hp less than the RS3, yet it could still compete or even win on circuits that weren’t very long straights. I’ve tested them in S-class, also on circuits like Road America, and the GTI in S-class accelerated much faster, up to 240. Even on the Mulsane straight at Le Mans… I know pretty well how one went compared to the other. And this update has destroyed the GTI. The telemetry numbers don’t lie.

These changes only affect the TC spec class, not open. And I’m not taking your word over my own experience and the word of some of the best, most consistent players in the game. I’ve done BoP for leagues, and as far a I’m concerned, you are upset the Golf is no longer OP down the straights. It has nearly identical acceleration and top speed to all the other cars in the class now. If you are getting beat on the straights badly now in the spec TC lobby, you either have bad exit speed, poor aero on your tune, or both.

Edit: The RS3 got a HP nerf. The power bonus is to the stock HP, which is lower than it was in the previous TC spec build. Plus it got a drag nerf, further reducing it’s higher end accel and top end.

I’m talking about the TC spec. The GTI was only superior to the RS3 in starting from a standstill and on short circuits. In the Daytona Nürburgring and circuits with a lot of straights, the Audi ran faster than the GTI. What leagues did you race in with what rules for touring? Because if it were only in the touring spec, it would only be full of Audis… but, well, this bop honestly seems like a setback to me. Each car stood out in something and it has been ruined because 4 cried.

And if the RS3 used to produce 276kW, now it produces 268kW. The GTI produced 256kW, now it produces 233kW. And if you don’t trust me, use the D-pad down to get something called telemetry. It will give you real-time data from the cars.

… the point of spec racing is that the cars have similar acceleration, top speed, and overall pace. This accomplishes that. Drag numbers were adjusted, which affects straightline speed as well. The Golf for a serious drag buff (19%), while the Audi got a drag nerf (6%). That is a huge swing in favor of the Golf at speed over 100 mph. In the end, both cars perform similarly, though drive very differently. This is no different than any other BoP in real life or sim racing. That is the point manufacturer spec racing.

I have one question - why was it necessary to add more power to the Audi?? They already have an imbalance in power in any configuration, it is faster than everyone on the Nordschleife on a straight line. I used almost all cars in touring and have a lot of experience in setting up configurations. The Golf is also powerful, but it is not easy for it to compete with racing Audi in endurance on the server loop. The Ford focus is a very decent car, it just lacked power. There were questions about the Subaru that it ate too little rubber and was too stable. All that remains is to test this update in online racing.

This modifier is to the stock 345 hp, not the previous BoP 370 hp.
