Forza Motorsports 6 -2015

I have been a loyal and avid Forza gamer for many years now. Ever since forza 2 I have eagerly awaited the next installment…with that being said I have found myself disappointed with the general tuning in forza as of late. For example this is THE ultimate driving experience, why can I not adjust the boost in my car??? I can fully build an engine give my car ridiculous amounts of camber change gear ratios, but cannot alter my horsepower to the least. if I want to get real life power out of a car I have to do many more upgrades than I should need. Also to continue my point, the lack of exhaust tips, tail lights, headlights, is getting very old. Many games such as the crew, which is no where near the level of forza has been able to answer the headlight and exhaust issues. I believe turn 10 needs to step up their game and give us more control of tuning our cars

FH2 runs at 30 FPS, but I’m pretty sure FM6 will FINALLY have weather and AT LEAST night racing. I mean, It’s about time right? A next gen racer should have these features no matter what.

Totally agree.

Agree even more. I can see why they don’t want to use a specific brand for tires, brakes etc. but just put your own logo on them, It would be cool anyway!

I really hope that Microsoft/T10/PG whatever…acquired the HRE license for future games too. I like them, and I want to see them in FM6, FH3 etc too.

+1, more bodykits are necessary in my opinion too. You can’t build proper replicas of drift/race cars without proper body mods.

I know people want all that but would you say FM5 was ready to have those things added or should the core game get more time spent on getting it right before adding that stuff.

I know we want the copmplete game we dream for but I wonder if it’s realistic to expect it in FM6.

I am not suggesting we should not ask for it, just we don’t want another broken game with animated pitstops do we?

Please, define “core game” and “broken game”. I understand what you’re trying to say with your last sentence, but I fail to see what makes Forza a broken game. Or better: broken to the point where the stuff mentioned above can’t be added. Are you talking about bugs and glitches? The sound issues? Multiplayer problems?

Firstly I think I coped better than most in FM5 and complained about less than the majority did. But there were lots of issues complained about.

So in a way I am trying to talk for the majority rather than myself so here is an example:

Add a more functional online lobby or hopper system (that works) before adding qualifying and pitstops.

I think your last few questions do sum up a lot of the isssues that need to be dealt with before adding bells and whistles.

PLEASE TAKE THE TIME TO READ THE WHILE THING. First things first We need the next gen forzas to have perfectly alined wheels so no more negative camber for better grip (for drag racing) most of the cars need to make there natural realistic horsepower like the Foxbody etc. they also need to add more corvettes like the c6 zo6, and the grand sport and make the 66 nova comparable with the other drag racing cars like the 69 nova and the 02 camaro. We need on the next horizon for it to be in a city like New York or New Jersey just a city in the US not Europe with rain and some actual drag slicks and radials in the next forza horizon and forza Motorsport with thicker tire profile option no more ZR1s with 20" rims in the rear etc we need a wider vehicle range for bouth of them forza 5 was sad, forza horizon 2 has gotten a Monte Carlo? A new car to the series and it’s slow? Come on people! We need have all the popular cars and engines to make good HP LIKE 1100 to 1200 like the VR38DETT, LS1 ,LS3,LS7, and add the LSX427 and the LSX454, 2JZGTETT, etc look at grand turismo there not even a street racing game and they have 1000hp+ corvettes and 1100hp+ R35s I’m a grand turismo fan but I’m not a circuit racer I love drag racing and roll racing I think Turn10 NEEDS TO LOOK AT 1320video on YouTube! That is what I’d like for cars to look, sound, and feel like I forgot to mention better engine swaps forza 4 had good engine swaps for Chevy and ford and for horizon 2 being able to put a 2jz into a ford is pretty dope but allow It to be in other cars like an is300 or a altezza or ae86 or a 240 s13. Just allow chevy and ford swaps into almost any car that weighs about 2600lb and up capable of 1100 - 1200 hp the reason why I don’t say 1500 - 1800 is cause we would need really good slicks or radials for that kind of power to the ground and from the last forzas we have been getting radials as race tires and slicks that need to have negative camber to have maximum grip so i don’t know I feel like I’m asking for to much from turn10 just cause of the fact that I can’t own a 1000hp - 1700hp car I’d love to race one in a video game. And I know I was everywhere and I’m sorry I just had a lot to say.

I would read that if it was in paragraphs.

Ok then. To be honest, I just throw the multiplayer issues in there just because I saw them mentioned several times. I don’t actually know how the online situation, since I only do offline races.

A better example for me would be: add bells and whistles and leave the menus as they are: slow, laggy and unintuitive. No, thanks. I hope they’ll be super responsive as in Forza 4 (and with separate dealerships)

This is actually a big thing which will alter your perspective on the game entirely. Forza is an online game. Sure you can play it offline but you arent playing forza, really.

Async play really sucks, lets be honest. You are faciliating offline interactions through an online “event”, leaderboard competitive play. Rivals was never needed for this. All it did was give the slower people an incentive to run on the board by offering credits to beat the person above them, and it does help make them faster. Those that want to be faster that is.

Lobbies are generally broken. They were never this bad in 2, 3 or 4. Now we are about to hit the biggest issue in this game.

ALL THE CARS BUILD AND TUNE THE SAME. They always have. Always.

The community fixed this in 2 with custom lobbies. But no one (read casuals) wanted to learn the rules. They would show up, have no cars (cause HP limited) then leave again. A lobby filled with race teams running FWD/RWD/AWD all being competitive. No way… But it was that way.

Once you know this, where is the fun? Buy car, insert engine A or B. Add forced induction A or B. fill out to PI boundary, Throw on same ol settings. Run leaderboard. Repeat.

This leads to a handful of usable cars. But what about the rest? The rest suck. With no way to balance a lobby or hopper (dont say private because NOT PUBLICLY SEARCHABLE) the rest of the car list is pointless.

This is from just before FM2 Launched - now go look at 3, 4 and 5. Forza is lifeless, a shell - “Car lovers into gamers” - Just remake FM2, same feature set, same lobby system, NO HOPPERS.

Q: So can you explain how these tournaments work?

BG: Each tournament will have a two-day qualifying period. In those 2 days players can go to the tournament select screen and choose a tournament to qualify for. Really, this is similar to a Time Trial and/or Free Run time attack. Players will be shown the Qualification Bar needed to make it into the tournament. This bar is set by the players themselves based on how many people are allowed in the tournament. If a tournament will only allow 128 players in, then the player with the 128th fastest time is that qualifying bar. Players can qualify as much as they want before the cut-off point.

Q: What happens after you qualify for a tournament?

BG: Once you have qualified for a tournament we will place a graphical helmet icon on that tournament in the menu list. Here, you can select this tournament to see the tournament bracket breakdown (as well who is assigned to in each room). You can also see what track is set for each round as well as who you will be playing with in the first round. Players are randomly seeded after the qualifying round into the first round. You can also choose to practice any of the rounds before the tournament by selecting the track on the bracket screen. The number of brackets depends on the amount of players we determine at Turn 10 for that tournament.

Q: How many total players can be in a tournament?

BG: The player size for each tournament breaks down as follows:

64 players = 8 Brackets – 4 rounds
128 players = 16 Brackets – 5 rounds
256 players = 32 Brackets – 6 rounds

To allow more players into a tournament we have branched out some of the tournaments after the qualifying round. This will allow a great deal more people to play and get to experience tournaments. We will take the top third from qualifying and put them into the gold tier tournament, the next 3rd of the qualifying will be put into the silver tier tournament, and the last 3rd will go to the bronze tier tournament. The track and lap assignments are the same, the payout at the end of each race will just be different. We have also incorporated our career payout system to the tournaments. So those who finish 7th or more will still be given a reward. This payout is scaled based on which tier tournament you are in, so no matter what, you are still earning money toward you career profile – and besides the glory of winning tournaments and getting called out on Forzamotorsport.net, money is the main motivator for joining tournaments.

Q: Wow, sounds like a pretty complex system of automation. So, this is all automated, right? It’s not like Turn 10 is going to sit on Xbox Live and create lobbies and rooms for people to join, right? (Please say no).

BG: Yeah, the great thing about Forza 2’s tourney system is that everything is automated and we control it with an admin tool here behind-the-scenes. One nifty feature we’ve included for all this interaction with Tournaments and Auctions is a notification and inbox system all within the game. This notification system essentially helps you get to your tournament race on time. We track your gamertag while you play Forza Motorsport 2 and you’ll receive messages in the menu system telling you that you have either 15, 10 or 5 minutes to get to you tournament race before it begins. If you open the message it will automatically take you to the tournaments screen from whichever menu you’re currently sitting at. Note that this function does not work in race, only in the non-race menus of the game.

Q: What happens if you fail to show up for a tournament?

BG: Noshowkernal.exe is fired off the DVD and we wipe the players hard drive of all Forza Motorsport 2 data (just kidding – or am I?). That and you will be given a DNF or instant loss for that race, therefore removing you from the tournament.

Q: What kind of (and how many) tournaments will we see online?

BG: When the game hits retail in May, we’ll have 12 weekly tournaments active, with at least one for every car class. The non-race classes will be split into three groups so overall you will see 24 tournaments on the tournament select screen. We designed the faster classes (S, U, R1,R2,R3,R4) to start on the weekends as we felt the best racing action will come from those classes. We are also opening up the player limit to those weekend starting tournaments to allow more people.

Q: So this sort of begs the question you know the community is going to ask – can we setup our own tournaments?

BG: One of our main goals in Forza 2, was to bridge the gap between hardcore racers and casual racers. Forza 2 is our first implementation of tournaments and we wanted to build an automated system that would allow all players to compete on common ground. We have the ability to setup, change, and tweak tournaments on-the-fly. Our tournaments are designed in-house here at Turn 10 and take all of the hassle of finding good people to play against. Similar to auction house we want people to have a safe and clear environment to trade cars with one another. In that same vein we have removed the middle man from the equation.
This is not to say that we don’t want to have player created tournaments. On the contrary, we do want players to develop their own shared experiences through Forza. One tool we’ve given players is a much more robust multiplayer server with all kinds of restrictions, settings, and even multi-round racing. But like I said, this is our first attempt at a complex system like tournaments and we want to make sure we do it right by not biting off more than we could chew in one go. We are barely skimming the surface of tournaments and this is an area we are very passionate about.

Q: Will we be seeing sponsored tournaments or win prizes?

BG: Yes, we will be doing some really cool things with sponsored and community driven tournaments.

Q: So we’ve heard a bit about Forza TV. How does that work into all this?

BG: Forza TV is completely integrated into the tournament system. If a tournament is currently running, you have the option of going into the bracket and watching the action in real-time. We have also built a specific channel off of the Forza TV list called “Featured Races”. These races are hands down the hottest races happening online. This includes sponsored tournaments as well as tournaments containing the higher ranked players. So consider it an honor as well if you find yourself being televised in our Featured Races channel.

Yep that’s an example.

Of course we want both the base game working well plus the extra stuff but it will be interesting to see what we get.

A good start for FM6 would be to combine FM2 with FM4 add weather and night time and work from there.

So custom public lobbies that crash every 3 races in a game that is dark and slick so no one can drive?

kidding, but fm4 and fm5 both had horrific lobbies.

Just completely copy FM2 with the additions of today and MAKE IT WORK.

Throw a little bit of FM1’s unforgiving attitude, and I am onboard. Crash bad enough, and your car won’t move. I loved it.

That would work Worm, what i meant was all that was good about 2 with all the content of 4.

I understand the need for custom public lobbies but why do people suggest the game should not have hoppers as well?

I know some people just prefer customs and thats fine and sometimes I want that option but most of the time I prefer hoppers so I am confused about why some people suggest they should not be in the game.

Why hoppers are bad.

No Control over the tracks.:- I dont like racing the same easy tracks over and over again and watch everyone skip the good ones cause they cant be bothered to learn them.
No way to remove the troll groups from game. Vote to kick doesnt work, never has.
3 lap races arent a race.
Wait forever for DLC tracks to be added, then get skipped.
Being kicked cause too fast.
Being wrecked cause too fast.
Being wrecked cause troll group.
having 1 or 2 races cause lobby crashes or everyone leaves cause too fast.

See the hoppers are a one size fits all solution. Custom public lobbies allow those to find the stuff that interests them. Just like it did in 2. CPL’s never worked in 3 cause the players were split between hoppers and CPL’s. You cant have both and expect a good pool of players.

Matchmaking already doesnt work cause of low player counts. Splitting the community further by hoppers and CPL’s makes it worse.

As for azure, it wont change anything. Sure it might take some of the host burden away from whomever’s internet connection but then why were we able to race in FM2 for 8+ hours without a single lobby crash.

You cant blame memory leaks from paintjobs like in 3/4/5 cause FM2 had layer glitching. There was 1000’s of layers on a single side of any car. 1000’s.

Shouldn’t lobbies work much better now that Azure is available to devs? Titanfall is the most stable online console experience i have had, Forza 6/T10 need to use Azure fully.

I am not a fan of just customs.

More often than not there are people not readying up and discussing the weather and it is painful to get the next race going. I prefer hoppers where you know the next race starts in say 45 seconds.

Hosts have too much power in customs in my opinion and although I know people will say you get to know good hosts I don’t think I should have to. I think I should be able to use a qucik search and jump in and start racing.

I don’t want to have to jump through hoops to get a car ready for a custom. I am happy to run the gauntelt against the rally engines etc.

Whilst I understand the player pool issue other than that I think there is no need to rule out hoppers. Just give people the choice of which way they will play.

Too much choice is a bad thing, and leads to further segregation.

Hosts dont have too much power. They have as much power as a custom lobby does now. Sure they used to kick mid race when losing but that was patched out pretty quickly. So how does a host have more power than a troll group in a hopper? You are still going to get kicked.

CPL’s are the only one true solution that will provide everyone with what they want. Hoppers the decisions are made for you, you have no choices. There were many rooms that hosted just standard racing as well as the HP limited rooms. I’ll can tell you back then HP limited rooms were more popular cause it was balanced.

You (not necessarily you SNE), but that perspective is why the hoppers came about and is what is wrong with the game itself. People dont want to learn.
Forza is not a game you pick up and are good at. You must learn to be good at it. The more its diluted, the more its going to fester and stagnate more than it has now.

Why do I still have a top 50 time from over a year ago?

-Cause nobody is playing this game.

All that is left playing this game is everyone in the middle. And to be frank, possibly considered rude, they dont matter. They matter to turn 10, of course, its the bulk of their income.

Forza is not a racing game anymore. It isnt competitive anymore. The cars will never be balanced.

You might enjoy racing the same handful of tracks in the same cars in the same builds day in day out. I dont. I know many other people that dont. They all left.

Anyone else reading this, enjoy your top 100s cause if this was anywhere near the FM2 player base, you all wouldnt break top 1000.

My last one for now.

Going to flip this on its head. You say you shouldnt have to learn the ropes, be able to just jump in and play.

Well, I shouldnt have to be relegated to finding a small subset of racers on another forum to arrange racing just so that I can race with equal skilled players.
Why should I have to jump through all the hoops to find a race and not you?
