Forza Motorsport Graphics Downgrade research and comparisons

I couldn’t agree with you more. My utter disappointment in the graphics when playing Forza Motorsport for the first time on Xbox Series X cannot be understated. Forza Motorsport franchise has always been a ‘graphical’ showcase but this effort has lost its wow factor. Graphically it has progressed substantially since release, but still has a way to go before reaching the heights of all its predecessor’s. Surely there is still enough legroom within the Series X to continue to positively improve its graphics… :crossed_fingers:

That doesn’t sound like a Forza fan to me. I hope the game makes massive strides in 2025 and we all get the game we paid for!

Yeah, I hoped that last year.

How many times does it have to be said that Turn 10 has to turn the wick up? How many more players have to leave before Turn 10 realizes they have to do something, and do it right? At some point and given enough neglect, the best course of action ends up being the one that hurts the most.

Don’t get me wrong @FreshBarley4670.

A sliver of hope remains in me as a fan as I wish for its strong polished fulfilled comeback! But I will not support the game blindly even as a longtime fan and act like I have not been robbed or lied to. Sometimes lessons are learned or taught the hard way.

Competition is good and when studios get complacent, they need to be brought back to reality. If Assetto EVO is what it takes to get their act and product together, then so be it. For a $100 - $130 AAA “next-gen” licensed racing game, the quality has been and still is subpar at best.

The fact that Horizon 5 runs and looks exceptionally well on the Series S alone tells me everything.

All optimization, attention to detail, quality control , accuracy, passion and graphical showcase for “the most advanced racing game ever” down the drain!

The reason = Series S. Guaranteed.

Series S is just an excuse for lazy devs… I don’t mean T10 in particular but in general. That’s why many great older games are still 30fps even on Series X

Usually the heads of a studio/the publisher won’t allocate the money and time for improving things like that.

The Xbox 360 Gears of War games are a great example of games that could run at 4K 60FPS on a Series X, but not all do because the resources for the work aren’t allocated.

I wonder if they will add DLSS 4 and FSR 4 into the game. Both upscalers are getting so much better.

I mean look at the results it’s great. It is really impressing. And the better looking DLSS will also work with RTX 20XX and 30XX GPU’s, you simply can’t use Frame Generation with it. And I guess FSR4 will also be usable by good old GTX 10XX GPU’s and by all GPU’s in general, well just like it always was.

Maybe that also fixes the horrible ghosting that is caused by DLSS/FSR in Forza Motorsport and Horizon 5.

It’ll be advanced DLAA in Nvidia’s case. The lower settings might not see any difference.

We still don’t have fsr 3, I think we don’t see fsr 4 at all.

Damm what game is this? It’s not Forza, right?

Lol how is this not available by default? It basically changes the game

The graphics that we promised back in 2022 are killing me, they look so good and use the same technologies as the current xbox version, just more volumetric fog, more shadows, better reflections, better environment detail, and better color grading+compositing. With a bit of very simple editing, the title at release looks a lot better and a lot closer to the 2022 reveal. One of the things that drove me crazy about the release graphics was how ugly the shading on the trees was compared to the trailer, but something as simple as editing brightness/shadows almost fixes it. Come on, Turn10; it’s as simple as changing a few basic settings and moving a few files. Btw, none of these images use RTGI.

I mean, that’s actually an improvement, the billboard tress don’t totally look like blobs anymore. But still looks pretty rough.

There are absolutely zero improvements it’s been that way since launch and won’t ever be fixed.

Nvidia’s new GPU generation dropped today together with an update for DLLS. You can use this new DLLS version in Forza Motorsport by forcing it on in the NVDIA App.

DLLS and especially DLAA look way way better now. There’s still issues with ghosting and flickering but the overall image quality has improved significantly.

just use these settings (set super resolution to “latest”)

I was desperately looking for this Nvidia update. I just hope this plays nice with Forza on my rig. I have been having strange problems for a little over 2 weeks now. I am thinking about re-installing the game but I feel that might not change anything. I cannot use Nvidia’s game filters or Steam’s overlay. I seen that Steam’s overlay is an ongoing issue, but Nvidia’s game filters making my game run as if it has a memory leak is upsetting.

OK. So with the new DLSS 4 (on a 3080), when you set the overides, no matter what DLSS setting you pick, you’re going to get max DLAA and it is as clean as Native.

I was able to run with game filters on in practice, and the game performed like a champ. The image is clean and there are very few jaggies on anything set on ultra, save some lines on liveries.

Overall, I like it but I can’t trick RTGI into running above 30fps with the overides on. But other than that, this is very nice. I have yet to see a DLSS artifact. It doesn’t mean they won’t happen, or I’ll avoid memory leak like performance. This is just my early observations.

How did you get it to work. It tells me it’s unsupported in the App under Forza. Couldn’t find an another override spot.
