OK. Thanks.
Thanks for this excellent list / screenshot.
Now I know exactly which projects to avoid in the future.
Anything with these peoples names attached is a 100% warning sign for me not to buy going forwards.
I feel like the new RTGI doesn’t look as good as the visual target mod.
I don’t know. I only play it on Xbox Series X and the game doesn’t have RTGI it’s impossible to run it and the game also needs more graphical improvements
Whatever happened to that guy, was he ever heard from again? Has he still got a job?
Absolutely no doubt that he got a promotion because T10 managed to get away with releasing an unfinished mess without anybody in games “jOurNaLisM” noticing.
You’re right, besides the visualtarget mod had other graphical improvements that improved ray tracing in rougher and full-range reflections, maybe rtgi needs to work in conjunction with other ray tracing methods without having to be degraded to really shine as it did in marketing, this game still has a long way to go.
This game will never change.
Here’s what I’ve learned after a year of playing
It’s changed plenty. Doesn’t excuse the doodoo fest that’s dragged out for months on end, but you’re being disingenuous by saying it hasn’t changed for the better.
Oh, it’s definitely changed and improved. I’ve seen it go through the stages. Happy with how things are progressing.
Turns out the RTGI released in update 15 is lower quality than it is in the Visualtarget mod. There are other features we do not have in the PC version, like high-quality raytraced reflections and increased environment detail. I don’t get why they watered it down again, what even is the point of doing that?
It’s posts like these that make it easy to see how materials really matter. It looks like plastic compared to the higher visualtarget.
Lovely comparisons.
It’s a shame that we’ll probably never get that level of visuals in the game.
edit: I made a topic in the suggestions hub. Go vote!!!
They both look good? I mean I don’t see anything wrong with either graphical style…
A decade apart.
One looks good for a 2013 game in an 8-year series.
One looks disappointing for a 2023 game in an 18-year series.
The watermarks should be reversed.
This is the opposite of progress.
It seems like the Visual Target mod should be the real RTGI High setting, while RTGI in the retail version is the actual low setting. The low settings that were delivered shouln’t be an option for the retail release of RTGI. The option for RTGI in the release version should be on or off unless the visual target results replaces the high setting.
The car modelling and sound. Everything was better in FM 5, even the track modelling. Look at FM 5 Bathurst and then look at the current one.
RT in general is low quality on both PC and Xbox. That’s just how it is for now.
Been saying this since day one. I have no idea how the cars and the tracks look the absolute worst in FM 2023 with all the time they had to make the “next-gen” only “the most advanced racing game ever” and “built from the ground up” instead of this always online, washed out, barebones mess with egregious FOMO and recycling, horrible synthetic car sounds and awful car models and their texture quality.
How does the 2021 open-world racer FH5 have significantly sharper environment, terrain and foliage textures, better color accuracy, significantly better car sounds and seriously better vehicle quality/textures than the “new-gen” only FM?
What we got instead is an always-online, bland and egregious mess? More than a year later, and GT7 and FH5 still kicks this game in the dirt. As a FORZA fan, I know and I hope Assetto Corsa EVO will bury this game even further.
The car audio is not only a monotonous, migraine inducing, robotic echo chamber but the cars feel lifeless during gear shifts. There are neither gear shift sounds nor the engine rpm shiver, that momentary change in sounds when shifting gears like in FH5 (I don’t know what you call it) leading to this stalling and lifeless audio effect.
The cars’ exteriors, interiors and reflections have always been an atrocious mess.
If nothing is done to remove the always-online barrier and bring this game up to the level of polish, photorealism, content, gameplay and vehicle quality & variety that FORZA used to be known for, then this game will be dead.
Where’s the photorealism and the attention to detail and polish that FORZA is known for? FORZA always served as a showcase to show the full capability of Xbox. Not this one at all!
