Forza Horizon 6 - Livery editor

What changes would the painters like to see in FH6?

“Everyone has their own painting style—whether it’s character art, geometric patterns, replicas, or something entirely original. When it comes to creating liveries or vinyl designs, what changes or improvements would you like to see?”

Be great to hear your thoughts.

Absolutely, positively, definitely don’t want the extremely poor version from FM8 ported.

Do want:

More typefaces, with built in easy switch to Bold and Italic.

Better alignment to 0.0

More manufacturer logos, with different colour options and curved for placing on tyres.

Ability to place vinyls on windows and sunshades on windscreens.

Livery editor needs a complete overhaul its years outdated, give us options like GT7, TC2. I have a feeling tho nothing will be changed.

Paint Liverys system only in game what i don’t to critic
in FH5 is full ideal
UI
Phygures

only what i would like is
add settings material to layers
paint to glass (but is need to edited UV on all cars from game)
add the ability to set a layer by perspective
paint on all materials, don’t only on metal

about FH8
is cringe, 30 fps and old UI Hud from Horizon 4 :-1:t2:
only is cool i can to paint on all cars, even if I didn’t buy them

I think I can speak for a big part of the painter community in FH, if I say that we need more options in the livery editor.

  • the stuff from Motorsport → change size of vinyl groups by individual axis
  • choose special colors for vinyls (carbon fiber, chrome etc.)
  • higher layer limit - at least double
  • more manufacture logos - even fictional ones
  • advanced masks → choose individually for each mask, how many layers beneath it will cut out
  • window decals
  • custom tire lettering
  • make each wheel a different color
  • change headlight/taillight color
  • have the option when sharing to enable other players to change wheel or even the base color to their preference

No I wont mention image importing tools, as I dont want to spark controversy. Everyone can have their own opinion.

this is something i’ve been wanting, but most of the time i prefer not to use them because the colours don’t match with my livery, so please let us change the colours of logos to whatever we want

Chrome is way too dark on rims in FH5. I hope that’s remedied for ‘6.

I’d like to see designs tethered to the car model so I don’t have to spend yonks rummaging through a large gallery.

I like to paint liverys too

Best problem i can’t to grouping my vinyls groups in pages and i can’t save in pages finally designed. to example: my decals, anime vinyls, movie. if cars that: fast and furious, nfs, my originals and etc

.

Sorry, don’t native speaker English

I think having multiple different speeds to choose from to move vinyl shapes would also be quite useful. Great selection of ideas though!

There’s at least 3 threads at the moment discussing the FH6 Livery editor. Maybe consider combining them all, or is that a job for @T10ManteoMax?

I didn’t create my own thread, some modder made my answer a separate thread.

Same thing happened to me cause I wanted to have a separate thread for organized liveries/designs cause sometimes I want to switch out my designs but I can’t cause it’s so unorganized but it got sent to this thread instead

I’m not asking for many changes… just paint the separate rims, rearview mirrors, and windows. The “Itasha” style benefits greatly from those details, as do many racing or drift cars, for example.

Obviously, liveries would be a win.

I hope the devs would adopt some if not all (from my suggestion thread link below) for FH6;

PS: Please help my thread get more votes if you like my suggestions, thank you in advance

For the people who own real itashas or any liveries, would it be easy if you guys had a PDF or other export file uploader in the game or plugin? That would be pretty nice.

Like this as an example, but without going through creating the livery from scratch through the game and instead importing a basic PDF or PNG based Export file.

Playground needs to completely rebuild the livery editor for FH6, and I mean make it incompatibile with the previous games because it’s so much better you never want to port anything from the old games. The mapping needs to be fixed and designed to match the shape of the cars, similar to how it is in Gran Turismo 7. The layers need to have much higher quality than they currently do because they still look like they were taken from the Xbox 360, lacking sharpness in every place. We should be able to import decals similar to how it is in GT7 as well, because making existing logos from scratch is unnecessarily tedious, and it’s even worse when we can’t use other people’s logos on a livery if we want to share it later. There should also be more available shapes of basic layers, because 90% of the current options date back to Motorsport 3 and maybe a couple were added later, plus some text fonts too - on this topic, we should be able to design our own fonts as well. There should be a lot more colour options for layers too - metallic, matte, chameleon, chrome - and they should be applicable to each layer separately, or groups of layers if selected. And there should be a much larger selection of colours for car bodies as well, I’ve even made a suggestion about this in previous games’ suggestion hubs.

It really is difficult to find something that hasn’t been suggested before. This one is obvious

Would be nice to skew multiple layers as appose to skewing them individually, same with the transparency. I do prefer it when players have to make there paints from scratch, no imports or a PDF option. It will take away the creativity and the proper painting community will fade. Would be great to be able to paint on windows & tyres, or have different colours on the rims - but understand if that’s a license thing. Could we have some more special colours, as I believe they have been the same since FH3/4

The skewing and transparency thing you mentioned will most likely be included as it is in FM23 as if i remember correctly.
