I spend most of my time on Forza drifting or painting and I’m starting to wonder if we will ever see the special paints (Chrome, Matte, Gold, etc) be available to apply to the shapes in the editor, I know this will cut down on creativity but also would cut out the amount of time used to create these awesome liveries and maybe encourage more people to get involved in painting.
Also would be cool if we where able to apply layer groups to windows and maybe paintable lights.
Does anyone think we will get some new features regarding this subject in FH4?
I will be shocked if there are any significant upgrades to the livery editor. I would be mildly surprised to see so much as a few additional shapes or a new font style. Special colours/finishes for the vinyls would be great. Being able to set the colour to a sort of alpha channel transparency would be awesome. Even having a basic text editor to make lettering potentially less tedious would be helpful.
Most of all I hope the texture resolution will be increased. With 4k support it would be a shame if we still had the stone-age textures of FM7/FH3 for custom paint jobs. Extra materials for the the vinyls would be great and help us amateurs who are not that good with the cut-in techniques.
You must not have tried the vinyl editor in FM7 on the OneX yet. Vinyl texture resolution in FM7 on the OneX is significantly increased over FH3 and looks 1000% better. I fully expect the vinyl resolution we now see in FM7 on the OneX to be there in FH4 on the OneX.
To my shame I have to admit that I haven’t (squeezing FM5 for forza points atm.). That’s good news. Making this an OneX enhanced feature is but a marketing gag though or a necessity as the old textures would look even worse in 4k. Just check the vinyls on racing cars from the car packs, they all were high resolution and you had no performance drop on the normal Xbox One when you were doing a race with those cars only.
Anyway, gonna check it this afternoon and FH3 aswell (didn’t it get a 4k upgrade too?).
Turn10 generated liveries are not made with the in game editor. I assume they are high-res bitmaps applied direct to the models, rather than the user generated vector models which presumably are converted to equivalent bitmaps and applied in game, which may explain the restrictions. Does anyone know in more detail?
Livery resolution was set lower on horizon because of the open world , With the new xbox out now hopefully they can add in the 4k textures to horizon 4
That’s not what I was referring to. My comments were specific to FM7 vinyl resolution on the OneX compared to other console versions. They pumped up resolution to 4K for vinyls only on the OneX and only in FM7. I am hoping that they will also do this on FH4 on the OneX.
Forzavista is “now in front of your driveway, and you can paint your cars outdoors, so that natural light is hitting the car. If just makes it look better. You can still do that in the Festival shop if you want.”
Yes! This is something I’ve been wanting for years! The problem with painting in a studio is that the lighting can make different colours and shades differ. What you think looks good in the studio can sometimes look off in natural lighting. Hopefully that’s no longer the case if we can paint outside.
Now I wonder. Will the natural lighting be dynamic and will weather conditions come into play?
heh, ANNA: “Sorry, painting feature is unavailable until you remove the 5 inches of snow on your car.” And then your hands shake from the cold, messing up your lines.
