Appreciate the new stretch feature added to the livery editor but before we get anything else new can we address the many problems with the current setup 1st please?
The blank tiles for the vinyl groups, the amount of time it takes to load them up to begin with & the lack of any kind of search function/order for them is a nightmare at the moment & is killing any enthusiasm to do anything new for most livery creators.
Add new features after the problems are fixed.
Hi, report them in the troubleshooting hub so T10 could investigate.
Tickets have been sent by most livery creators I know on the subject months ago. They know of the issue, just needs prioritizing. No point adding new features when the core of it is still largely broken.
It took T10 nearly 4 months to respond to my ticket, nothing has been fixed as of yet from my ticket.
They should have at least copy n pasted FH5 editor, what we have atm fails in every aspect to FH5 editor “Built from the ground up, yeah ok lol” In saying that even FH5 editor is sub-par compared to GT7, The Crew motorfest editors those two are lightyears ahead of Forza.
Tip for liverys if the car is in FH5 and FM, I’ll design in FH5 then import to FM.
Is the GT7 livery editor better the one in GT Sport? I found it interesting in many ways, but trying to mirror one side from the other wasn’t as simple as Forza’s one button solution - or was I missing something obvious?
As for designing in FH5, whilst it should be the best workaround, unfortunately for me, trying to import from there has either found no files, caused an endless loading cycle or just crashed the game back to dash. Admittedly, I’ve not tried recently, so I’ve been designing in FM7 or FH4, though the latter upset me at the weekend, when after a couple of hours on a logo design, it crashed before I could save. Never happened before on FH4 but many, many times on FM8/2023, so I’m wondering if it’s a Forza problem or an Xbox Series X memory problem.
Apparently there is no skew function now. Can anyone confirm this?
Duplicate/mirroring starts at 9:30
I know PC has import issues, I’m XSX main acc, Alt acc Xbox one x with a usb ssd drive never had a crash on either, multiple crashes in FM. Did have some issues importing from FH5 early on, culled a heap of rubbish/part made livery’s and grouped decals into packs as i was at max decal capacity haven’t had an issue since.
Worked last night on individual layers. No skewing on layer groups, but that’s not new.
Imagine being able to skew layer groups, would save a bunch of time in the editor for detailed italic logo’s.
I think group skew would require them to implement skew on the Y-axis as a prerequisite. Currently, the transformation matrix they build only allows for X-axis skew. However, if skew were applied to a group, and any of the components of the group were rotated, an omnidirectional skew transform would be needed for things to come out right.
It looks like they have also fixed the mask layer rendering issues. Mask layers used to create artifacts when overlaying multiple overlapping layers, but they appear to be gone now, so mask layers work the way the do in FH4 and FH5.
That’s really interesting and helpful. Many thanks!
The skew function works but not on groups only on a single layer item.
Thats not only the Livery editor. The whole game is broken and they dont care about it and do every month add new senseless FOMO crap.
T10 is unteachable. The only thing what we can do to wake them up is to Ignore the whole company and never buy again anything from this company till they wake up!
I don’t think they’re “adding” or working on any new content- I think what we are getting is content that was ready, but purposefully held back at launch to pad the “games as a service” BS they have decided to go with for this iteration of Forza.
They likely have a skeleton crew working on bug fixes, and are just releasing content that was already (or mostly finished) during initial game development.
My biggest issue with the livery editor is that the “center point” (0.00x0.00) on most cars is not aligned with the center of the car, and varies from side to side.
Another huge irritation is cars that mirror the other side when applying graphics (such as sponsor decals) to parts of the car and cars where the boundaries seem to be arbitrarily assigned (aka- the upper part of the wheel arch colors with the roof, or only half of the body kit changes with the door) Makes doing any sort of a racing livery nearly impossible.
the load and save times are so excessive. what is happening so differently in this game versus any other horizon or motorsport where it is almost instantaneous?
would also be nice to be able to import from FH5 but due to shortsightedness the limits were set too low (copy/pasta fm7)
almost forgot how poor the lighting is given the additional lighting settings. color palette is off too
guess i’m saying, fix the basics so its functional
It looks like they have added an new bug in livery rendering. Vinyls placed over polished metal finishes now appear as a matte texture, instead of glossy. This includes polished aluminum, chrome, gold, etc. paint types. In the examples below, there are no reflection visible on the vinyl covered surfaces. This is new behavior for update 7. Update 7 fixed some problems related to mask layer rendering, but apparently broke vinyl textures at the same time. The pictures below are both vinyls over standard gold finish. In the second image, the mirror shells are painted with standard black glossy paint.
Yeah the updates seem to fix things then break others. Long way to go but at least we know they are trying & that is appreciated, the replaceable devs having to make something of the mess we got in October are the real MVP’s here.
I did notice the layer groups don’t take forever to load now & the thumbnail pics are all showing, plus they stay in order rather than randomly mix up every time you back out then go back in so at least muscle memory will help knowing where what you need is after a while. But I wish they would add a search feature or at least put them in alphabetical order.
I don’t think this is a new bug, at least for me. I remember it being a problem at least a couple months ago.
Putting decals over carbon fiber is also bugged, where the decals placed over it have a sort of “metallic” finish to it. Honestly it looks kinda cool if it’s something we could do on purpose, but a gloss finish isn’t possible with decals unfortunately (with a carbon fiber base)
