Livery Editor

Since Forza 6 has a great variety of cars, does anybody know if we are able to add liveries to the window?

Most Motorsport series show the car numbers on front, back and side windows with driver surname. It was mentioned the we could create any livery using the livery editor.

Also some livers change throughout a season. Would be an excellent touch to update the race cars we have.

Turn 10 know.

We don’t know.

We’ll find out on September 10.

Could be a great addition to the editor, if done right!

but i can see it already, more idiotic paints with windows all blacked out etc…

I started creating a Fantasy livery on a V8SC once but gave up when I couldn’t put numbers on the windows. Hopefully they finally allow that but I’m not actually counting on it. Ideally they would allow a zone in the lower left corner of windshields for names, like PWC uses. A zone at the top of the windshield and rear window for headers as seen in every series on earth, and completely open coverage of rear side windows.

If they opened it up completely, props to the first person to troll everyone by perfectly recreating a popular race livery on a leaderboard car and blacking out all windows completely so no one can see out of it. LOL.

Switch to chase view. Problem solved

Hood view would also solve it and be closer to what cockpit drivers normally use for perspective. That doesn’t mean it wouldn’t still be successful trolling.

Not trying to start something here and in fact I’m very thankful for them bringing back the vinyl/design transfer option and the fact we even have customization and painting but…

I am wondering as well about the livery editor and customization options because if I remember correctly, pretty much every “new released” Forza game has, by now, released info on these things. It really kinda worries me that there has not been much discussion about it and especially no demonstration on it. If memory serves me correct devs somewhat pushed off those questions in a sense as well when asked but I could be remembering it wrong.

This makes me think that we are going to be using all the same stuff for the most part. Don’t get me wrong, I very much like the editor and the customization is better than nothing and in a lot of cases cool but this is a new “current gen” game so no new anything like for example window vinyls, separate rim section painting, special rim sizing, spacing, different textures for vinyls on each side of the car?? In my opinion these things are overdue and would really give the game a new feel but we’ll leave it at my opinion and not what should be so it doesn’t end up in a wish list thread.

Sure it is their choice to reveal when they want to and we as consumers/fans need to deal with it but it is also my right and choice to voice my concern with there being practically nothing on any new features within customization or livery editor.

So I ask now…
Does anyone know about ANY new features in customization and/or livery editing other than the sharefront supposedly being designed for better distribution?
T10 Devs, Mods?? Anyone???

Unfortunately, if the topic doesn’t involve the words “rain”, “night”, or “biggest forza ever”, it’s kind of hard to find much on it.

Check Manteo’s FAQs, up at the top of the forum. Some non-talking point stuff has slipped out in tweets and interviews, so if anyone knows, it’ll probably be listed there.

Thanks … will do

Wow, this definitely worries me now. According to Max’s thread, there really is NO info on anything new to customization or painting … interesting. This definitely gives me the vibe that it’s not being mentioned because there is nothing new to mention. I think that would be a big mistake but, again, we’ll leave it at that … still looking forward to the game.

Here’s what I could find in his FAQ thread which was just updated 20 some minutes ago for those who want to know …

"Painting: (no info on material types or paintable surfaces)
UGC import: import vinyls, liveries and tuning files from FM5 and FH2 for matching car models
UGC tracking: improved file management to see usage and payouts for your designs and tune setups
Storefront: not centralized (works like FM5)

Auction House: not included"

"Rims
New rims were added in Forza Horizon 2 and options are driven by OEM. (s) | (d)

Body Kits

Blowers and Hoods

Nitrous

not sure why this worries you. They really haven’t talked about any other features besides the main stuff they have been talking about in interviews. Demos probably gonna tell us stuff/early release and reviews.

here’s hoping for a flood of info before then. But considering they haven’t said much i don’t expect it now.

I highly doubt there has been any change to the livery and editor.

If there’s no change then there’s nothing for them to reveal

I was in the forza friday stream and Mechberg answered my question of whether the paint shop is new. He replied “It’s very similar and there aren’t any big changes” quite dissapointed as I was hoping for a brand new paint shop

I didn’t expect anything new with the paint shop. The FM5 and FH2 paint shops are basically identical with the same functionality and the same glitches and the same bugs on the same cars even though those issues have been reported many many times by many gamers across two games over a couple of years now. It’s a shame really, because there’s a large community of painters within the Forza community who do some amazing things … even with the limitations and issues as they are. Imagine what everyone could crank out with some response and work on the current problems and/or the implementation of some new and better features by T10.

Couldn’t agree more. Glitches get annoying as they stop you from painting some of the bits needed.

I am not sure what happen to the “COMMUNITY DRIVEN EXPERIENCE” of the previous Forza Motorsport games, but they were the EPICENTER of the previous games.

By Dan Greenawalt’s standards, Forza would be just another game with cars in it, without the community creating such a LARGE niche, that it has gone mainstream, and is now ultimately expected in racing games, and games outside the Genre.

Without Painters, painting the cars means nothing.
Without Tuners, the ability to tune cars means nothing.
Without Forzatographers, Being able to record video and take pictures, means nothing.

Why are we still singling out these players, when THESE players are part of the content you are buying?

That is like buying an auto repair shop, And firing all the mechanics, and expecting people to show up and make you money.

The ultimate reason that Forza has been successful, is the USERS that are elite UGC creators, are rewarded for ther addition to the game.

FORD, is going to use the TUNE data from the game to assist in the 2015/16 LeMans career… and yet we cannot have details concerning the LARGEST chunk of the game.

The game could have ONE car and ONE track, but allowing the UGC of previous Forza titles, there would still be people that play it.

I am ready for the details.

Let’s not kid ourselves. While we all like cars with amazing liveries at the end of the day the largest chunk of the game is the racing part. Online or career. The fact the it’s a racing game is what sells it and unfortunately it’s the casual Forza player that dictates where the game goes. Adding halo style mods…Come on

While the paint community and the community on here seems to be big it isn’t big in the grand scheme of things. We are all a small drop in the Forza Ocean. Many Forza players buy the game and just race and have no idea about these forums. They don’t search very hard for paints, they take one of the first few they see as turn select that looks cool, download it and then race.

There have been many people on the forum asking for all sorts of things in 100 pages of wishlists threads and I have yet to see any of the top requests make it into Forza

i’d like to think that the vinyls we create will be of a much higher resolution. Close up they still look a mess and worse in some cases than on a PS2 .

Back to the original question … about adding vinyls to the windows. Don’t know if we as painters will be able to do that … but in the screenshots of the V8 Supercars in the announcement post here on the forums, all the cars have vinyls on the windows in various places as well as vinyls on the headlights.

There have been race cars that come with decals in those places since at least FM4 if not since the beginning. It isn’t really an indicator of what will be allowed. It has always been frustrating when you go to paint a car and it erases stuff that can’t be replaced. Such as decals on windows or in the case of the FH2 Robby Gordon truck the grill. Recreating the grill on that accurately sucks.
