Forza Horizon 4 - Best S1 900 cars

Hello a,

First, sorry for my english

Coming from Forza Motorsport 7, I really like FH4 for its fun side, its rides … and for me the best category is the S1 900.
So I made a little YouTube channel and I post tests on my personal circuit.
I’m looking for the best cars boosted in S1 900 Max.

My limitations are:
S1 900 Max
As it is a fairly simple circuit with a lot of straight lines but also vicious turns; So I want a homogeneous car with at least 8.0 in road holding and maximum 8.5 in speed.

I do not want big transformations, I like a semblance of reality, a ford Escort in S1 does not interest me  (base specs up to 800 mini)

I have tested 3 cars so far:

-A “BMW M4 Coupé”, one of my favorite cars in FH4 with lap time 4: 14.972.
Assessment: Beautiful car, beautiful noise, very easy to drive but a little fair in power and top speed.

-A “Ferrari 458 Special” with lap time 4: 09.876.
Conclusion: Light and handy with powerful brakes, a pleasure to drive.

-An “Audi RS7 Sportback” which is 4: 07.865.
Conclusion: The Monster! - Heavy but powerful and fast, it does not leave much place for error, but what a bomb! Clearly above the lot for the moment …

Other cars to come … If you have any suggestions …

You should read the Rivals challenge? thread. There you can find which cars aliens are using for the win.

Have you shared the circuit? If so, I could test a couple of cars on it. The absolute best cars in S1 are the Bugatti EB110, Honda NSX 92 and Ford GT in my view though (excluding the overpowered RWD King Cobra and 906), so you might want to try them.

I always think GD’s list of times is a bit out of keeping with how I find the relative performance of S1 cars:

I might re-visit some of those cars. I tried the MC12 a long time ago and made it decent but no way it was better than the F1 or Ford GT. And he rates the '92 NSX much lower than you do.

yes… I shared my video you can see it in any FH4 video of my youtube channel

You are too “serious” when you talk about tune or aero… I search a car to take pleasure to drive AND beat the time if i can ;).

I’m not pro, I just want to take pleasure fastly whitout falling in tune, and this because i don’t want to make highly tune (Ford escort in S1)

first i tune with 8.0 mini in road holding and i finish with speed to S1 900 max… It’s simple

I did some tests with your car proposals by community :

ATS GT:
Time: 4: 12.586
Fast, light, pleasant to drive but without really standing out in all areas
The performance level is at the level of the VIPER '08
In terms of handling it is a little more “cool” than the FORD GT '05 but less than the VIPER
Regarding driving pleasure, I did not feel a “personality”, it is standard.

FORD GT '05:
Time: 4: 13.871
Very light and easy to handle, it requires a lot of concentration so as not to get off the road, the road along the coast being a little “hilly” it tends to take off quickly …
The performance level : it is at the level of the ATS GT, the serenity in less … the time I did above could be much better if I held the wheel a little more relaxed  a few more tries would have made me do a better time than the ATS for sure.
In terms of road holding it is a sheet … very sensitive to the state of the road it is a constant attention that makes you lose a few seconds.
Regarding driving pleasure it is hampered by concentration, it is clearly a competition car on the circuit, not for the ride:) …

DODGE Viper '08
Time: 4: 16,073
In a word: Atypical … I found the same road behavior as on FM7 when I reached the TOP 1% worldwide on the Dubai circuit (YouTube -rZUG2YlUsk & t) but it is clear that The first moments in town of my circuit make the Viper waste too much time to touch the best ap time, it is not a good circuit for it.
The performance level : it is a powerful car but which has a lot of trouble at a standing start and at low rpm, on the other hand what happiness at high rpm!
On the road holding level it is happiness, it stays on the road and its brakes are powerful.
Regarding driving pleasure, engine with its specific sound, assertive personality it is really special to drive, you have to try it!

I still have some of your proposals to test … see you soon:) e

I just did 3:56.698 on my first try. If you want to try my tune, it’s shared as “S1 OP”.

Edit: 2nd try 3:53.845. It’s better to do races on the easiest AI level if you want to compare cars, as you start nearer the front, so it reduces random variation due to AI. I did that on unbeatable to start at the back like you did, but it means that you can save a lot of time just by learning the best path to reliably get past all the AI cars ASAP.

Edit again: 3rd try 3:50.411. That’s all the really low hanging fruit taken.

Another edit: 3:48.7. I recorded that and will upload the video for you.

Hello Breeminator,

Yes i’ll try with your tune thx

You 're absoluty right, i’ll try with easiest AI

You play with gamepad or steering wheel ? Auto or manual ? with help drive or not ?

I wait your video

I use a wheel. The assists are shown in the video.

The importance of a good tune !

I tried with your tune Breeminator and i disabled ABS + TCR

Only 2 try : 20 secondes better ! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=98AotPEQs3Q&t

Are your settings shared?

I don’t think I’ve shared them for those cars, no.

Could do so for the Ford GT. The Monaco build is the same as you’ll find everywhere with the maxed out Racing V12, Sports tires and Drift Suspension.

My Ford GT needs MC to be effective though and around a less “power maintaining” track it isn’t better than the AWD builds. It combines Race tires, Race weight reduction and the Racing V12. Not possible as AWD and the reason why it’s this strong on your track.

Nice job! I see you’re locking the tyres up in places. How I drive without ABS with pedals is I have to first of all “set” the maximum braking by pressing hard on the pedal. This causes something, I’m not sure what, to set that as 100% braking. If I don’t do that then the slightest brake pedal movement locks the tyres up. When I say hard, I mean the pedal reaches the rubber stop, and then I push hard enough to compress the rubber stop and flex the pedal arm a bit. Having done that, I can then press the pedal to just gently hit the rubber stop, and that gives the right amount of braking to brake fully without locking the tyres up. It makes it a bit like using an Elite controller with the trigger lock.

M4 sounds great until you’re in a race vs one and can barely hear anything else.

I could create an Excel sheet for S1 and S2 too since I’ve tested every single car in those classes + strong lower class cars like the NSX already.
The results aren’t surprising though because most of the best cars are well known for quite a while.

I am looking forward to something like this for a looong time now.

Maybe I’ll find time during the weekend to create one.
My idea is to sort by the flying lap times and to note the drivetrain, tire compound, used engine and specialties like front-aero or if MC is necessary.
Anything else?

Yes, good though the Portofino is, it is not better than the NSX or 08 Viper!

My top 20 (recent testing at Derwent Reservoir - so reasonably biased towards speed) is:

1 92 Honda NSX
2. Ford GT 05
3. Ascari (drag tyres build)
4. Viper 08
5.Bugatti EB110
6. Alfa Romeo 4C
7. ATS
8. McLaren 570S
9. Lamborghini Huracan
10. McLaren 12C
11. Pagani Zonda
12. Ferrari 458 Italia
13. Maserati MC12
14. McLaren F1
15. TVR Griffith
16. Alfa Romeo 8C FE
17. Koenigsegg CC8S
18. Ferrari Portofino
19. 2002 Corvette Z06
20. Viper 13

My EB110 isn’t as quick as other builds high up the Rivals leaderboards so this course didn’t really suit it. It’s my go to on more technical S1 tracks.

What’s your setup for NSX, have you used any swaps (engine, body, turbo installation, etc.)? I really like this car, but I’d like to keep stock engine and RWD.

The more or less common setup:
AWD, bodykit, 6.2L V8 + centrifugal supercharger, rear-aero, tires depending on the track/personal preference. I personally like Race tires the most but others go for a lower tier and more power.

With stock engine and RWD you probably need to keep it at A800 where it could be decent. For S1 it surely won’t.

Ferrari 488 Pista has been doing me good in S1.

Do you mean at Ranked Tsujen? Interesting if so, as it’s not a car I’ve ever seen anyone have success with. For what it’s worth, it’s 82nd on my list referred to above.

Just checked the other cars mentioned on here and I have the Ferrari 458 Speciale at 30th, M4 Coupe at 38th and Sportback at 80th, so none exactly top tier. If anyone recommends a tune for the Sportback let me know, as it doesn’t sound like I’m getting the best out of it!

Edit - have now watched the Sportback video. It’s very much a speed course - the majority is the high speed coastal section from the Goliath, so the Shelby Monaco would be incredibly quick for this. Just had a quick run out of interest. Ran 4.04 in the Sportback as a benchmark and then 3.59 in the Portofino (a convertible felt right for a high speed cruise by the coast).
