I’m new to the game and I want to find a great car for S class. I don’t have deep Forza pockets, so I’m not capable of trying out every car in 37 different tunes. I’m not stupid enough to think that there’s one definitive answer, but if anyone knows a car that’s a good mix of handling, speed, and acceleration, and a good tune for that car, I would really appreciate it!
Which car you like is going to be personal opinion. A good start is to go into Free Play and rent any car in the game to drive for free. That way you can try them out and see for yourself which one appeals to you.
I will suggest the 2015 Vette tuned by phyxsius5. Great all around car. And you say new to the game, are you new to forza period? If so S class is gonna be a handful learning throttle control. S class cars will lite up the tires effortlessly so good throttle control is a must regardless of the tune you use.
You can’t go wrong with the '08 Viper ACR. I highly recommend a tune by either BAM Myst or DTM Lightning. They are both very easy to drive well and will compete on nearly every track.
Thanks for this recommendation. I am pretty new to Forza but have a lot of experience on real tracks (5 years PCA instructor). I’m also MUCH older than pretty much everyone on this forum, so bear with me.
I had never used a tune other than the “standard” Forza upgrade tunes. From this post I I tried the '08 Viper ACR with BAM Myst tune and it was a revelation. Much closer to real life car dynamics than most other “stock” Forza cars. The car was a blast to drive, controllable and real life manageable when driving on the edge.
Others argue that maybe the car is “too easy” to drive, but isn’t that exactly the purpose of a good tune in real life or in a game? Also, if you push hard enough every car has its limits. I thought is was tons of fun.
Having said that, I now am very interested in finding the best tunes for other models. Is there a good source or method to find the better tunes? Thanks.
Hey I’m glad you’re enjoying it and well said about it being “too easy!” I don’t hate on anyone for driving whichever car they choose in the game. If theirs is easier to handle, I enjoy the challenge of trying to beat them with better technique and track knowledge.
As far as finding other tunes, when searching the recommended tunes, you can refine your search to sort by specific classes. Unfortunately, there is no way to sort by highest rated (how stupid is that?!), so you either have to go through the list and look for 5 star tunes or already know of some good tuners you want to search for. You can follow tuners so that their tunes show up first in the recommended tunes list.
Some good tuners I’ve had success with (in S class) are:
-LSR Neo
-VPR LeeCampbell
-Raceboy77
-DTM Lightning
If you can’t find a decent tune for a particular car you’d like, feel free to message me and I will happily tune you up a car =]
I second the 08 Viper, with the same tunes as what F 16C Viper said. Also the Lancia (racecar unsure what number) can be detuned to an S class and it’s amazing on smaller tracks. I also like the Saleen S7 and the Maserati MC12. All of those are great.
The Saleen and Maser are also great choices! Since the OP doesn’t have a lot of credits yet, the Viper is a great budget option as well. OP, once you have more credits, I definitely recommend trying out the S7, MC12, and I personally really like the Alfa 33 Stradale tuned by LSR Neo.
The nice thing with the Saleen is you can download HBR Roadhog’s tune which will dominate the Daytona oval or you can download more grippy tunes for all-around use, such as VPR LeeCampbell’s

I got the digital standard edition, so like the lucky ducky I am, it came with a bunch of nice cars, including the Viper, the 458, and the DBS. Is the DBS any good? I, for one, love it, especially on tracks with good straights. I find it beating the 458s and Vipers, but I am playing against the “Above Average” Drivatars, not real players (I’m too cheap for buying Live).
I third the 08 Viper ACR. Great handling, good acceleration, etc. And I honestly don’t even like Vipers that much (at least not compared to its competition) but at least in this game, it’s phenomenal.
Actually I think most of the tracks are dominated by the track toy cars like the XBow and the Mono. The Viper is definitely the best car for Bernese though.
It’s easy to drive, but that doesn’t make it unenjoyable to me. I like all types of cars, from the easier to handle ones like the Viper to 900hp+ RWD cars that require a bit more finesse to guide around the track.
I’m just tired of elitists hating on so-called leaderboard cars and trying to shame people for liking them. Enjoy each car for its own uniqueness. If it wasn’t this car, it would be another car people would complain about.
