so, op, your only concern is about windows piracy?
buy it.
as i will.
Piracy of UWP games is a pain in the backside anyway. I looked into this when they first announced the Cross-play as i had my own concerns. But getting pirated UWP games to run is complicated at best. Copying files and folders here there and everywhere. Some in your profile folder, some in the app folder, etc. It’s a mess. Most people won’t go through all that just to play a game. Because most people these days won’t go to any effort for anything. So it’ll be bought on daddy’s credit card instead. It won’t make any difference to how they play. These people will behave like idiots, pirated or legit copy.
As long as you enjoy the game, just ignore the idiots. If you see anyone bragging about playing a pirated copy then report htme. Otherwise, just enjoy the game!
As for it reducing Xbox sales, unlikely. I’m a long term PC gamer, and i’ll be buying a scorpio. I play Xbox for online and exclusives and I play PC for 21:9 ultra-wide immersion and eye candy. I’ll continue to have both systems as long as they exist.
I agree Mitchy, now I’ll say this from the onset, just so no one thinks I know a lot about PC gaming.
Because I simply do not.! Period.
That’s not to say I don’t want to, but for me, the Xbox’s are the choice I make.
Simply because of how my home is set up. That’s not yo say I wouldn’t go there in the future. But I think that’s why MS are doing what they are.
Back at the beginning of the Xbox’s life, before the first one even hit the shelves. In initial meeting with the Top Ten team! Bill Gates had to be severely convinced that this new tangled Big Black Box (affectingly thereafter as the BBB) could be a replacement for playing games instead of a PC.
He was addimant that it would have to be different. So as all history goes, time passes and events occur. So in initial meetings he was also addimant that in due course, he wanted to see this box thing in everyone’s home under their TVs at the time he gave it ten years.
So here we are16 years later, and the Xbox has had a varied career, going up the top of the console wars, then slipping back down, yet still opening other areas of the Internet to its username.
My serious thoughts would be.that the Xbox will become the Set Top Box of choice for a huge number of customers, not only gamers, but mums and dads, sisters and brothers, both young and old.
Now, we’d have to be really blind if we haven’t noticed the HUGE amount of Internet online services that have become almost ingrained in Xbox users everyday life.
They have supplied a huge online TV and Movie service.
They’ve offered users storage for their music, their movies and their TV series rather than buying hard copies, external HDDs etc cluttering up their loungeroom. As it’s now, they can now have it all at their fingertips.
We have to remember that we aren’t the only ppl using the Xbox’s across the world. It’s not just sit gamers using them either. Over here in baud trails, but f I’ve got my Xbox, I can get Foxtel for $10 a month cheaper per week rather than start an account with Foxtel and get their new iQ2 for $29 per mth and be locked into a 2 yr contract.
With an Xbox, no mater what version it is, Foxtel costs just $19 p/mth, no hardware costs, connection costs, account set up fees etc. I can store my movies on they box, rather than THIER hardware which I’ll never own. As it’s Really just stop being rented from Foxtel.
Now, in order tom arch ms you of the other TV programs that are being streamed from overseas, services like STAN etc are free to download, users get a free 1-2 mth period before taking up their services.
As you all know, STAN is just one of the huge number of services we have at our fingertips on the Xbox. Thus supplying users with not only a great gaming device, but one that is quickly b coming, yep, that set top box Bill Gates was alluding to back in 1998/9.
While you and I might only want it for gaming, and like done have said, just because of Forza. But the device is now becoming something g bigger than that.
Why are games coming to BOTH Win-10 PCs and Xbox?
Because the next Xbox will be able to work seamlessly with HDR, UHDTV (4K), earlier ones will be able to handle the games and movies, because TVs have the ability to upscale lower res movies and shows, as well as Play both our BluRay and DVD movies. As well as games of course.
So you can see where this is going, right.
Yep…
The console is not aimed at taking the place of PCs, or competing with them. What it is doing is supplying a nice piece of hardware that will fit in with their living room without looking like done big gaming monster, or having a lap top attached to your new TV.
So we have the whole idea of moving gaming right out of the bedrooms or man caves, or gaming rooms that some gamers have. MS does want to push into the PC market. In fact, it wants to encourage its use and its expansion.
So we don’t have anything to worry about the Scorpio taking over from PCs, or visa versa. Nor does MS want to discourage gamers from playing on their Xbox’s. In fact, they want them to be one attached so much, they are now offering services through Forza, that would never of been offered several years ago.
Hat being. Professional Gaming. Forza via the Forza Hub a App, the opportunity to get involved with professional gaming, especially online racing. Offering tournaments, becoming involved with world wide racing leagues. Setting up matches that get viewed across the Twitch network.
As you can see, there’s a definite plan being laid out here. It’s not something that just popped into one of the head guys at MS. It’s something that’s been in planning stage for over a decade. They knew that in 2010 they didn’t yet have the power or capacity to undertake such endeavours. Not until this new device that they have been working towards fir over 5-8 years now.
As with each change of hardware, they get slowly closer, they change things on the new ‘Project’ that will eventually become THE Set TopmBox of the future. A device that will work with specific OS fitted PCs and their mainstay, the Xbox.
No rocket science needed here, and you can see where it’s all going, and why this game, and future titles, are being fully designed for opening up even broader opportunities.
I can see the Scorpios of the future taking the place of other players, where it can be used with huge theatres systems. It can supply countless hours of fun for mums and their little ones, for the gamers, for the movie buffs or the Soapie overs. There’ll be an opportunity for them to use it seamlessly and easy as pushing a single button.
PC users will still have dedicated gaming servers, they’ll have the king of all gaming devices at their fingertips. They’ll still have the monster of all gaming rigs and yet now they’ll also have access to the same things thebxbox user has via Forza Hub App. And of course, all the services on the Inversal Operating Sytem App (UOS) that gives the same UI to both Xbox and PC users. Allowing them access to the same services.
Can you see the future this has. I sure can, that’s for sure.
I’m an ardent Apple user, always have been, but I’ve also been a solid Xbox user, and I can see where MS are looking at how they can implement that same or similar ideas for their users. Offer a seamless interface where both userbases can do the same things, have the access to the same things end services.
So the services are there for us, the ideas are there for us to use easily, the same devices, games, movies, TV series, etc etc. are there for us. Ultimately we’re in this to enjoy gaming, and that’ll not change. But there’s nothing to really fear, as if ones trying to beat the other. But to just work seamlessly with each other.
Hope that huge wall of text helps understand where this whole things is most likely heading… I could well be wrong… Most likely am in some cases, but I’d put money on some of the ideas. That’s for sure.
OS
I have every intention to play it on my PC. I still love my box but i can still party chat with friends and use all Xbox features on PC these days. It’s amazing but you need a high end PC to play maxed out. I’ll take 120 FPS over 60FPS at UHD vs 1080p any day ![]()
What I’m concerned about maybe is the fact, that PC version might get modded and since there is cross platform multiplayer, both platforms will have to deal with hackers. I’m almost sure that there wont be any anticheat in the game because this is their first multiplayer game on both platforms.
I have been a forza fan ever since forza 2. I purchased a 360 and soon after that a wireless racing wheel and forza 2. Then 3. Then 4. But in the meantime I purchased a fanatec GT2 wheel setup for $800. Xbone came out and didn’t support my wheel. So instead I upgraded my PC with a new VGA card. Memory. PSU and mainboard. Very sad I could not play forza anymore, but there are many PC sims that I could play. Now I can play forza again so I am over the moon. Not only that but I can probably play it better on my PC than I could on an xbone.
My first concern when I heard about cross play is cheaters. I don’t know know how hard or easy is to cheat on UWP games. But for example if people found a way to have infinite money or things like that could ruin multiplayer fun.
I bought the digital version, i want to play it on pc, but I don’t if my iMac 5k with 2gb gpu would run it, since bootcamp drivers are old, I manage to run Apex but when on max settings I get low video memory message. On medium settings and 1080p, apex runs good. Sometime i think to build a gaming rig to play Forza, but that’s too much money to play a game.
Infinite money wouldn’t be a problem if they didn’t decide that the first cross-play entry should be the same entry that the Auction House makes a return.
If the original Test Drive Unlimited was any indication, it would lead to AH prices going up to astronomical numbers for money-laundering.
On the other hand: Why is this ridiculous “I’m a special snowflake” thread still alive anyway?
Because we let it. And all our users are special, one way or another.
I seem to remember cheating being a thing back in Forza 3(maybe 4?) using a certain program to extract the saves from your 360. I also seem to remember T10 cracking down quite swiftly on people who did this. Piracy is a controversial topic but to me it’s overblown. Does it happen? Sure, but it’s not as widespread of a problem as many claim. CDPR has proved this with GOG not utilizing DRM and data actually shows their games like Witcher 3 being pirated less than average.
The problems I have with it on PC is it’s implementation. UWP is not a valid platform, not yet. First off Microsoft is so concerned with the piracy aspect that it’s hurting the overall experience. Only recently were you able to specify install locations and it’s still a hassle as Forza Apex failed to move twice. Secondly, there is no back up option and every install is tied to a specific machine. So if I want to play the game on all my W10 devices I’ll need to use around 150gb of my 300gb/mo data limit on my 3mbs connection to enjoy the games. That’s being conservative as Gears of War consumed a measured 74gb on it’s install and I only started tracking once the display in Windows exceeded the game’s size by 10gb so it easily went over 100. Yes that’s likely a bug but with the amount of reports on that issue it doesn’t look as if it’s resolved yet.
Then there’s the performance. I know it’s beta but right now Forza Apex does not feel optimized. It has memory leaks and it requires entirely too much power to run. Apex feels worse than a port, it feels as if it’s running on an emulator(hence requiring 2x more cpu/gpu power than it should). In comparison Gears of War not only looks amazing but after the first few updates it runs amazing. Again I realize Forza Apex is essentially a beta test on the game engine for Horizon 3 retail release and hopefully these problems won’t be an issue.
Some of the mods are special too… lol
Dragnet is the specialist of them all, that’s why he has the biggest ban hammer, encrusted with rubies and Hello Kitty stickers! lol
Hey TopFuelMad,
I appreciate your sentiment. As you have no doubt seen, my profile would indicate I have spent an enormous amount of time and money on the Forza franchise. Including every game, every DLC, every console. Sometimes even multiple times, multiple discs. So, let me be the first to tell you that Forza coming to PC is one of the greatest things that ever happened to it. I personally just made the full switch to PC exclusively for several reasons.
One: The player base is made of younger casual gamers who seem to do more trolling then good.
Two: Graphics seemed to never be a focus from MS until very recently (Scorpio)
Three: I have no friends that play Xbox anymore. They have all jumped to Playstation because they are tired of the Xbox crowd. Best of both worlds much XBOX APP.
Here is a thought for you Jealous dingdongs. Have you thought for a second that allowing new people in the market new people will be playing the game flooding the markets with new paint and tuning talent?
So there was one thing that my switch made me so sad about. Loosing Forza! And now I can continue with my amazing Forza adventure now… In 60 FPS… on ULTRA… Im beyond happy with my decision and I will see you in FH3 and you can eat my dust. Ill be chilling with my pro cockpit & Clubin11. We will take on any interested.
hi guys for me i happy forza horizon 3 come to pc.
is first time i go entry forza world , i always jealous see horizon´s on youtube. and now i can play it really thx
And here goes the “Reviving dead thread to disagree with the long-gone OP” award of the week.
I actually wondered why a game like Horizon would be on a console. It isn’t powerful enough to even run it properly. PC is the logical choice to play Horizon (or any game). No racing game is ever acceptable at 30fps. It’s a slideshow and gives me a headache besides. Not to mention such an incredible amount of aliasing on the console it’s completely distracting. After running APEX at over 60fps at 4K and 8X AA, my eyes have been opened to what Forza should have been all along.
Just because this game is going to be on PC too it doesn’t mean people will sell their Xbox One consoles all of a sudden to play it on pc. You have to realise that a lot of people prefer console gaming over PC gaming. I prefer PC gaming and I’ve played all Forza games. I always wished the Forza games were on PC because I really don’t like consoles but I bought an Xbox to play forza. I am happy to see Forza on PC. When I traded in my Xbox one six months ago I knew there was another Forza game coming and heard rumors it was coming to PC but even if it wasn’t I was not going to buy another console just to play that game.
I really don’t understand why people would be against games coming out on pc. Its more sales for the franchise and as a PC and Xbox gamer this is a dream come true.
Some people just don’t like seeing others (or other group of people) getting good things as well.
Why you ask? because it lets us play the game at an Unlocked Framerate which mean 75fps for me ![]()
while on Xbox One its locked at 30fps, thats a huge difference
I have just had the opportunity so see the difference… lets just say it like this: when the xbox scorpio comes out I’m buying a gaming pc to never look back ![]()
