Hello, I haven’t played Forza 7 for about a week. When I went to play tonight the game will not launch. The outline of a screen flash up for a split second then disappears.
Here is what’s I found in event viewer:
Activation of application Microsoft.ApolloBaseGame_8wekyb3d8bbwe!forzamotorsport7 failed with error: Access is denied. See the Microsoft-Windows-TWinUI/Operational log for additional information.
The operational log says:

Either the component that raises this event is not installed on your local computer or the installation is corrupted. You can install or repair the component on the local computer. The following information was included with the event: The message id for the desired message could not be found
Just wanted to bump this. Forza 7 hadn’t been working for me at all, just crashing on startup. Removed a couple of addons and re-installed and its working again now.
Thanks, I tried that, but the Hoonigan Pack now won’t install. “Couldn’t install. We’ll try again later”. Code: 0x80070422
I also notice that Forza 7 hasn’t been updated since Oct 27, which is odd given there was an update Nov 8? When I click “get updates” in the Downloads and Updates page it does not start any update for Forza 7.
I blame the Microsoft store and/or the Xbox app. Something in it causes problems with games. As if not connecting to the server and being able to aithenticate your user information. Not being able to download what you already own might be evidence of this.
For me, it is the second day in a row that Forza won’t launch. I had to do the delete/re-download the hoonigan pack. The Play button won’t even show for me. I have to launch it from the start menu.
Check for Windows updates. Make sure you’re in the latest version. Also, if you play it on Xbox too, do a hard reset on the console and let Forza 7 restart.
Yeah I figured that it is another Microsoft store issue most likely. What a terrible program, it’s not fit for distributing games.
I haven’t updated to version 1709 of windows 10 yet. I haven’t been prompted to and I really don’t want to yet, people on these forums seem to be having issues with it and I know other games I play have issues with it that are yet to be fixed.
I suggest that you do though. A lot of the performance fixes are based on 1709. Also, the Store has changed since 1709 (at least the icon is different). Other than the game not launching, for me it is working flawless with all the patches. Of course, I have to do the uninstall/re-install add-ons thing every day.
If you install 1709, it might let you re-download the add-on you uninstalled and there’s a good chance the game will launch.
Well I have had an issue with Forza 7 disappearing on my PC and not being able to re-download for over a month now, sought help from Microsoft support, Xbox support and Forza support and all they keep doing is give me the run around by telling me to contact the other depending on who I contact.
I tried installing forza 6 apex as suggested above and it won’t download either, so I’m guessing this is firmly a Windows store issue.
Apparently Microsoft is releasing a patch on Tuesday to fix the issues with Windows 10 v 1709 so perhaps I’ll be able to update then and maybe that will make this work…so frustrating. Never have issues like this with steam.
I also installed the patch. Forza 7 appears as if I don’t own it. I can only launch it through the start menu, or the pinned icon on my task bar. If it refuses to launch, I re-download any dlc and it launches.
this is my first post so before i go i say HI to the forza community…!
