Since the Windows 10 Fall Creator’s update, Forza 7 instantly crashes to desktop after the splash screen. The only fix is to uninstall the car packs and re-install them through the store, as mentioned by someone else on the forums. However, I’ve had to do that MULTIPLE times, basically every time I want to play the game. That’s not acceptable. This is the only game having any sort of problem since updating Windows 10 and I’ve played games across pretty much every popular platform (such as Steam, Battle.net, Origin, etc) out right now.
Once I’m in the game there doesn’t seem to be any sort of problem with the game, but having to re-install add-ons is very frustrating.
I have the same issue. Since the fall creator’s update installed itself Forza 7 crashes instantly after showing the windowed splash screen for 2 seconds.

I used to have that problem with FH3 and I think I fixed it by doing a clean install IE. something was probably corrupt so delete everything and reinstall everything.
I think that’s the DRM check failing or something so it won’t start up the game.
EXACT same issue here, same log in Event viewer as well… Regretting my purchase. Corporate greed trumps the people again. Cant even release a finished game thats how money hungry they are. Not saying it’s the Devs fault… probably just doing as they’re told (Just slap it together and throw it out there so we can rake in the cash) …Pricks at the top are always the problem. in any given situation. I’ve worked long enough for multiple companies to know that very well. in any case, I’m still checking for patches etc. daily, because I WANT TO PLAY.

Same here, before fall update, it crashed sometimes, almost in upgrades, now it just doesnt start anymore. I can’t believe this mess. VIP was a joke, the game is a joke, the appstore bloatware is a joke. The game is even unfinished… What did i do buying this dear god…
Updated to the Fall Creator’s Update yesterday. The game worked fine last night and this morning. I get home today and try to play and it instantly closes every time I try to launch it. Tried running WSRESET.EXE to reset the Windows Store and restarting my computer and that did nothing. This sucks!
Have had no issues getting the game to launch before today, but whenever I attempt to launch it, a window will briefly open with only a black screen then immediately close. No error code or anything that I can see. Only issue I have had previously is the seemingly random stutter that occurs. I did install a Windows update yesterday (KB4041994), but was able to launch the game no problems yesterday evening and night.
I did attempt the WSRESET.exe today but this did nothing to help. Is this issue being investigated?
Had the same problem and hate to bring it to you if you have slow internet…I removed the game, reinstalled it and works now.
Also for some extremely weird reason i removed FM7 from the Apps menu, but it did not actually remove the game from my harddisk. While removing some other games to clear up space to actually be able to redownload the game…i removed FH3 as well. Surprisingly after doing this FM7 is also gone. Instantly went up 150GB+ of free space.
Sometimes i just wonder how stuff like this even happens…
After the first day of win 10 1709 things weren’t so bad, now I cant play this game without continual crash to desktop. Sometimes I can get passed the loading screen, if I manage to get as far as loading a race the loading times are sooooo long and I’m running of a SSD on a very high end rig. Most races crash to desktop, if it doesn’t CTD during a race it crashes at rewards screen resulting in getting nothing and losing any mods cards in the process.
Lets face it Forza has never run well on PC, there is obviously an underlying bug in their game engine of which they appear incapable of fixing. All my other PC racing games Do Not behave like this POS.
I said it before and i’ll say it again, do not expect performance improvements until ms’s baby called XB1X comes and goes, I would get a refund but they’ll only refund my account where I can only spend that credit on the MS store and there’s nothing I want there. This is a complete joke, Turn 10 you have my money this time but I will never ever waste my hard earned cash on your broken games ever again, Period !!!
I had this happen to me as well. I just uninstalled all of the add ons to the main game, and re-installed them from the app store. Worked fine after that (so far at least).
Woah this is weird. I was getting the crashing issue just like this thread. Signed in to this website to comment, opened forza to take a screenshot of the start screen it crashes at, now the game works. I even tried it 10 mins ago and it was crashing still O.o

Game crashed on splash screen 2 days ago, yesterday started working, today it’s crashing on splash screen again. I’m going insane here. I haven’t had a single crash before Windows 1709 update.
EDIT: I did the DLC uninstall/reinstall trick and now all Windows Store games are working again (FM7, FH3, Gears4). This doesn’t seem like any particular game problem, but a problem with Windows update and or Windows Store. I hope responsible people are aware of this issue.
