Forza 7 physics vs GT Sport

Has anyone played both? Which is more realistic physics wise like suspension model, tire physics, weight transfer (weight feel of cars).???

I noticed in a GT sport race… When the car stands still and you steer left or right… The car lifts a bit because of suspension. Forza 7 doesnt show that. Does it mean forza 7 suspension model isnt as refined or realistic?

Hard to say, the PS4 controller has no trigger feedback so GT Sport feels weird to me. I seems more simcade than Forza in my opinion. Cars seem really planted on say a sweeper turn in GT Sport, you can just full throttle it and the car will just stick to your line. In other types of turns it can feel quite difficult. It is however good at teaching proper driving techniques and sportsmanship. Hilarious forced watching of videos of what not to do and it constantly saying if you do this you will look bad lol. Their are circuit challenges where you will do a circuit section by section working up to doing the full track. When going from one to the other Forza feels better to me IMHO. If both games could somehow be combined you would really have something. Turn 10 could learn a lot from Polyphony and vice versa. PJ might be able to answer your question better since I really just started playing GT Sport.

I’ve put a few hundred hours into both, usually a Top 1% Driver in Forza Motorsport 7 and am rated A/S in Gran Turismo Sport.

First off the level of controller feedback is much weaker in GT Sport, as the DualShock 4 doesn’t have rumble triggers. That means it’s very hard to feel when the tyres are about to lose grip and I am having to run more Assists than I would in Xbox games (where I typically run none). Steering response is very good usually, matching Forza 7 most of the time. Aerodynamic grip feels much better in GT Sport, race cars are properly planted.

The cars feel less connected to the road at lower speeds however, almost as if I am driving over the surface rather than on it. This is most obvious when braking which to me feels very “hit and hope” and is more about controlling when you brake instead of how hard you do so. Should you put a wheel on the grass you’re punished much harder for that in GT Sport than in Forza 7 however, especially in the braking zones where it’s easy to spin if you take a bad approach towards a corner.

In a Forza 7 the cars feel more alive, and it’s much easier to dance on the edge of grip than in GT Sport. Almost every tyre compound has a decent amount of grip, whereas in GT Sport anything below Racing Hard can feel like ice sometimes. I only really feel confident in driving race cars in GT Sport, whereas in Forza 7 I can happily drive almost everything with ease.

Car collision physics seem better in Forza 7, as the cars can “take a hit” without flying off the track. In GT Sport a minor tap of the rear bumper in a braking zone can be enough to send another driver into the wall, while the car behind is largely unaffected.

Overall both games feel largely similar on a controller and each have their strong points. Forza 7 is easier to pick up and play but once everything is going well GT Sport feels great when you’re pushing for laptime/position.

Thx for reply :). So you think from realism standpoint of physics forza 7 matches GT Sport?

Btw… If you only had one choice … Which would you pick… Forza 7 or GT sport?

It’s hard to make a call on which is more “real” since my only real life racing experience is from karting

Both games “make sense” in a way that when I attempt to drive in a certain way the games react how I expect them to.

Neither game does enough for me to choose just one.

  • Gran Turismo Sport provides a far superior Multiplayer experience, better tools for racing and actively encourages its players to improve themselves.
  • Forza Motorsport 7 has more content, more creative freedom and a very active online community outside of the game.

I don´t have GT Sport, But all Previous GT Games.
It´s a different Piece of Cake if you can`“SEE” something or you can “FEEL” it.
Forza-Physics often doesn´t Show optically effects, (like the one you mentioned) but are “feelable” and you can see them in Telemetry-data.

If anything that sounds unrealistic

I hope you’re talking about Forza for this particular matter.

Also when driving in GT Sport you can see and feel more the body roll than in Forza, from 1st person view. What helps a lot is the precise steering thanks to the analog sticks of the DS4.
The downside is the throttle and braking response. Just atrocious with this pad, also because I’m used to the long range of the xbox controller’s triggers and rumble effect inside them when losing traction. As PJTierney wrote, I too need to use more driving aids in GT Sport because of this.

I use the motion controls for GT Sport and love it, helps actually steer. In FM7 I would just mash the steering stick and modulate my line with throttle, you can’t do that in GT. I’m was faster in FM7, but feel like GT challenges me more. The DS4 not having trigger vibrations sucks bad though. I think they are both different in physics, maybe FM7 is better since it models tire temp into grip. They both feel different, but both have a good simcade model imo.

FM7 is a more complete game, but if online is your main thing GT Sport is actually more fun with public custom lobbies and much cleaner racing.

I own both.

To put it in perspective, I was a GT player forever. It was my GAME growing up (I’m 28 now) and I played almost nothing else. When Forza first came out, I laughed at it. Then, due to the fact that GT didn’t make an appearance on PS3 for quite a long time, I gave Forza 3 a shot, and it was a great experience. When GT5/6 came out I did buy them to see how they were and for nostalgic purposes, but was immensely disappointed. There is zero excuse for standard/premium cars. At that point it had become clear that T10 had a huge leg-up on PD, even though Forza 5 lacked content. So I guess I said all of that to simply communicate that I have a long history with both franchises.

When GT Sport came out, I admit I was excited. But I have to tell you, after all those years of mostly playing Forza, the physics are really, really hard to go back to. I don’t know if it’s the lack of trigger feedback or the fact that the DS4 triggers themselves simply aren’t constructed in such a way that they’re good to race with, but I really struggle to put together a good lap unless it’s a fairly slow car. The triggers on the XB1 controller are much better for racing games, period. Screw-ups seem to be punished much harder on GT Sport as well. Within 15 minutes of playing GT Sport, I find myself wanting to rage-quit because it feels so different than what I’m used to. I feel very disconnected from the car, whereas in Forza I feel very connected to the car. Plus there’s the fact that after all the promises of sound improvements, the entire game still sounds terrible.

They’re both good games but if I could only own one of them, it’d be Forza 7 hands-down.

I can only compare it to Forza 6, since I didn’t buy 7 but I imagine not much has changed anyway.

All the tracks feel perfectly smooth in GTS, no bumps what so ever. The FFB is lacking a bit too, it’s harder to know when the back end is about to get loose compared to other games I’ve played on a wheel. Weight transfer is really well done though, especially in the road cars.

Forza’s tire physics are better though, especially for tuning. In GTS the tires feel much more simplified.

I play on a G29 btw.

If you are looking for realistic I think you are missing the Mark on your options. Should be looking into a.c. or pcars2 for a console game and if u have the option of pc I wouldn’t even suggest either or them. Forza is great at providing lots of blanket content and putting a bunch of inezperi3nced people on a track together for Sprint races.
