How long is this gonna be free?? Lobbies are FILLED with 0 lvl players with self-made tunes that don’t even reach the maximum PI for the class…in other words: the players+their cars suck, and we get more crashes than ever before. Wow what a smart move, especially since
there are (and there still won’t be in the upcoming title) no penalties for crashers
Turn10 are not teaching the players how to drive
I have never been so frustrated in all these years.
So you’re saying the teams I see in public lobbies (GTR, GFR, AMR, AMS, ACR etc, plus all the players I know without the team tag) are “wasting their time”. We have had a fairly good amount of clean races in public lobbies between us and with decent players we don’t know.
Leagues? I have never played there simply because it can’t find a single one, and none of the players I know are listed there. There must be a reason. I don’t even want to play very seriously, just have a decent clean race. Then correct me if I’m wrong but aren’t leagues between ghosted cars? So where’s the fun in competing with others, without having to slow down or brake because there are opponents in front of you, making a little mistake then apologize?
And when you say “private” most of the time it means “less players”. Why people go in public lobbies? Because they’re fast to join and because there are a lot of players.
Leagues are not the solution. These are the solutions that T10 refuse to apply to their title:
matchmaking based on the skill level of each player (and that’s what Polyphony Digital are doing btw)
There are several leagues each week. Usually 1 Ghost League, 1 Spec League and 1 Division League (it looks like the next few weeks will be by division, one time it was a BMW league).
Leagues are separated by skill somewhat. It’s mostly “win/loss”-like - do well and you’ll move up. Do poorly and you’ll be relegated down. It’s definitely not based on how clean someone races, wrecking or cutting - T10 doesn’t care about cutting at all. Regardless, I think they are much better than the hoppers where skill varies greatly.
If there is an adjudication system in FM7 like Greenwalt said at E3, that takes care of #2.
Not sure what #3 means. Visible? How about let’s start with effective? I think it’s visible enough by clicking on someone’s GT. (now if you’re talking about showing it at all times on this modal menu instead of just during the Voting and Intermission screens, I’m all for it)
If you’re good you can’t find anyone, usually, in leagues. I’m in pinnacle and leagues in pinnacle are a ghost town more often than not. I’ve learned to not even try and that I can usually find more competent drivers in class based hoppers.
The Xbox 360 era FM3 and FM4 had visible vote to kick. You still had to select their gamertag but the vote was visible for all to see. It was quite effective. In FM5 and FM6 the vote to kick tally is hidden.
The only reason it is hidden is because in FM3 and FM4 you could only vote 1 person at a time. Abuse of this flaw allowed savy crashers to always start a vote to kick of an innocent player. The problem is that with FM5 and FM6 the votes tally for all players. There’s no longer the flaw of only being able to vote one person at a time.
Free play days are always temporary. If anything is a waste of time it’s ranting on here about players who are just trying out the game and are totally new to Forza. They won’t be around long unless they decide to buy the game or Forza 7 and that helps promote the series.
Yes and no … it will be good to race with people of your own skill, but what this will really be doing is limiting the number of players you can race with. Add in other factors like hopper choice, time of day, and strength of connection will only limit the player total even more.
I agree with you about the lobbies now… that are absolutely horrible. Even the Cycled Production hopper is really bad, if you were below 12th then you may as well just quit because of all the crashes and ramming. Every race I started in the lead pack I ended up near last place due to a pile-up, then I started pulling off to the side to let everyone by … was able to get by a bunch but there were still idiots to deal with later on. This move by Turn 10 makes me doubt they did a good job with Forza 7 … with all these complaints about rammers and they pull this move? No, they know very little about their community.
I’m pretty sure the OP was knocking people who’ve upgraded cars and haven’t even entered the tune shop, the type of people that solely apply engine upgrades and wonder why there car won’t make it to S800…
And quite rightly he’s knocking them for it. Who wants to race with someone in a 703PI front wheel drive Honda Civic. I think you’re too coiled up, restricted and bubbling over in your own excuses you just could not help yourself but jump on this comment. As it happens I commend those who happily race in the best setup they can get their hands on. It shows they’re not going to make excuses, that they’re there to be competitive and whatever success or failure they have is down to their own driving ability. Let’s face it those complaining about others not tuning their own cars is just another of those great forza excuses for those who dare not use the top tunes because then what excuse will they be left with when they still can’t keep up.
You didn’t read what I wrote. Those players can’t drive, can’t tune and the cars they drive have no grip. As a result we have more crashes.
Not true. Many players don’t even know the vote to kick system even exists. They don’t know they have to go on the gamertag of the problematic person → press A → vote to kick.
I’ve been asked so many times in the lobby how to do it. If people knew, we would be able to get rid of crashers every single time. Either with 5 or 24 players. It’s not the case, it’s the exact opposite.
Turn 10 hid it on purpose.
Yes and not sure. This weekend the free play was Skyrim.
From what I can tell, the free games with gold thingy you can click on the home screen always has some limited time free to play game. Usually Major Nelson mentions this in his this week on Xbox videos.
