FM Update 9.0 Overview - Sebring, Porsche, and Endurance Month| 10 June 2024

I don’t know. It seems to me, the stories about the AI are starting to sound a lot like the old rubberbanding AI. When I did the Silverstone race I ran the new Porsche. I was challenged all race by two X class Porsches that kept taking the lead away from me. I was running level 3 rules 1. Once these two cars got ahead of me it only took me about a lap to regain the lead. Which I could hold for about four to five laps before reaching traffic and the two X class cars would over take in traffic. Rinse and repeat. Classic rubberbanding AI. They get ahead, and quit, get behind and you can’t pull away.

Yeah don’t like rubberbanding on par with FOMO but the standard of the A.I We have seen since launch it wouldn’t surprise me, if a little rubberbanding is what is needed to actually achieve a challenge it means that everything sold as you & I plus others thought before launch with that single vehicle racing around Maple Valley was too good to be true…

Let’s hope that it’s not and see what happens over the next few updates

Yesterday I completed the GT3 endurance event at Sebring. Very nice and competitive. In addition to the classic rewards, a message warned me that I would receive an additional 150,000 cr which, however, were not actually added. Can anyone explain to me?

For the career mode Pinnacle Endurance race at Silverstone, there are multiple classes.
If you select one of the lower class cars and are first in your class, do you get a first place trophy?

Can you actually select a GT3 car?

It was actually different PI letters. There were X, P and R in the race.

The race finish doesn’t show any breakdown of class finish just overall finish so I’d guess no.

There are two types of car in the race. The “slow” ones I think are all Forza GT. The “fast” ones are Forza P1/Proto H. You can only choose a car from the fast options.

Well there ya have it! The answer is no.

Wasn’t there a dual class race in FM7 where you could win in either class? Or was that one of the trial races?

In so many ways FM7 was a much more advanced game than FM8.

Ok thanks. I ran an X class Porsche with the race at difficulty level 8 and could only manage 3rd place, with a ton of rewinding LOL. I was in first place at my lap 12 pit stop and came out 7 seconds behind the third place car. I managed to pass him but that was it. They all must have pitted earlier and undercut me. I had no pace to keep up with them.

I was going to try again in a lower class to get the gold. I suppose I could just run the race again at an easier difficulty, but that’s a pretty grindy thing to do.

The 963 is broken. You literally can’t even finish an endurance race if you pick anything else. I was drafting right behind one when I was in a caddy and it was pulling away from me! Do you guys ever playtest anything? I humbly suggest starting to do so with the stupid events you guys add each week. Not too tall of a task, that. Worse, when that car is no longer free it will be behind a pay to win paywall. The downfall of T10 is shocking. The games used to be so, so good. Now we are stuck with this broken mess after seven years.

The AI have an always on grip cheat unless the player gets within a few car lengths of them. Basically, they don’t contend with wear and drive on rails all race with a grip cheat. It blows.

Today we’ve pushed out a change to extend the End of Race Timer from 2 minutes to 3.5 minutes for Le Mans/Endurance that should allow a higher chance for players to finish. This adjustment is already live in the game and players do not need to download a new update.

Isn’t it funny how changes can be pushed out so fast. And yet changes that have been askbfor from day one have yet to even be acknowledged. And many of those changes seem to be much simpler changes than changing the end of timer. At least as simple as some of the hotfixes that have been rolled out.

And that’s even after Chris stated point blank the platform of the game would allow for faster rollout of changes and updates to the game. But I guess tha was before he added the caveat of “No Promises”.

Please leave the endurance series in the game! I really missed career endurance races a lot in this game, now we have them and you want to take them away from us again? Dont do this!

The first GT event felt a little long, like after a dozen laps it was clear I wouldn’t move up or down the order.

The first LMP endurace race was low key the worst experience I’ve had with this game. It’s great to have a choice of cars, pick one, have virtually no upgrades for it, and realise the AI just cheats and picks cars you can’t compete with. And after a dozen laps, it was clear there was no way I could even keep up. I started over, set the AI to level 1, drove for a lap to get ahead, and turned on the autopilot.

I doesn’t help that thanks to this incredible feature that takes away prize cars after a month, I feel forced to do these events anyways. I wish there was the option to just run a regular-length race. 45 minutes of this was torture.

And then the game crashed after the race returning to main menu. I guess that’s still a thing.

The issue with that second event seems to be that there’s no scaling, so you can enter the event with a car at PI940 and the AI have X class cars. I suspect that’s an error because it renders some of the car choices fairly redundant if you want to have similar pace to the lead AI.

That’s basically what happened, I had my car at 950 and the top three were X class. My crime was picking the shiny new Porsche 963. Imagine if they asked 5 bucks for that car…

You can upgrade it to like 979 though. I finished 3rd at lvl 8. Had a great race against the X class Porsches. The AI general is a huge improvement in speed on both races.

No, I can’t.

  1. That’s still not X class.
  2. Even then, it’s still nowhere near the power/mass ratio of a 919. Those 919s are in P1, that’s a different division, with clearly higher specs.
  3. Adding more power at that point doesn’t make a car easier or more enjoyable to drive. In my experience, it’s quite the opposite.
  4. This isn’t how it’s supposed to work anyways. The promise of the game is I can pick the car I want, upgrade it how I want, and the AI levels off with me. Not the other way around.
