Hi, have been playing FH4 on PC for a while now with no major issues but all of a sudden today I can only reach the starting loading screen, which just says it’s loading for a couple minutes and then my game decides to just crash. I get no error message or code so it’s really unhelpful. I’ve troubleshooted, disabled antivirus and even reset my game but nothing works. Looking for advice, thanks in advance
I started having this issue Jan 30. I was fine on Jan 29. I have created a ticket with Microsoft.
This is my debug report.
Jan 30 Debug:
The initial failure occurred around 7:00PM PST. I tried to launch the game and it failed to pass the “loading… please wait” screen. I tried several more times and it did not start working.
I checked my shutdown menu and realized I had pending updates that required a reboot. I rebooted my PC and tried again with no improvement.
I tried to run windows update and it reported that it was unable to access the update server.
I verified I had internet access all web pages I tried worked fine.
I attempted to reset the application through the add remove programs menu, this did not help.
I attempted to run Forza Horizon 3 and it did not work either.
I updated my Geforce GTX 970 driver with no improvement.
I tried launching the application from the Geforce Experience (which should optimize settings). This didn’t help.
I tried launching from Windows store. This didn’t help.
I checked the event viewer and found some event viewer errors and information logs related to the crash.
I downloaded the Microsoft troubleshooting tool and it only tried to fix Windows Store. I ran this application several times. The first time it reports that it failed to fix the crashing app issue. The second time it reports that it failed to fix a registration (or registry issue).
I repeated several of these steps but nothing improved.
Jan 31 Debug: uninstalled latest windows update did not solve problem.
I also tested FH3 on a separate computer it would not load. Other computer has a RX480 graphics card so I don’t think this is an NVidia driver issue.
I am currently trying to install FH4 on my second PC and the Microsoft store download server is broken.

I had the same issue before going to work, i am hearing from few people tell me its a windows issue where smartscreen is possibly down for maintance because i cant even update windows 10 it says check connection, every game works fine but FH 4,ive never had an issue with crashing or this happen before today.
The problem is fixed it seems Forza Horizon 4 needs windows 10 update,This is what you need to type in google search, not sure if allowed to post any type link

I downloaded and installed this windows 10 1809 update and it worked, Forza Horizon 4 will load just leave it loading then hit enter or controller to start it and it will go into loading please wait, XBOX App will pop up like it was login screen and it will says Syncing data, it will be slow sync but dont touch it …once finished you are into game and it will load to 2nd loading screen like on installation , let it finish and you are ready to go.

Use the Google DNS: 8.8.8.8 / 8.8.4.4. Worked for me.
I have the exact issue as the OP. I thought uninstalling and reinstalling would fix the problem
but guess what ? … Microsoft Store is broken as well, it refuses to let me download anything and also Windows update is not working
