Curses. I failed to get in on the last one, which I was at least mildly interested in. Pathfinder WotR absorbed my time too effectively.

Won’t be able to get on until Sunday but I’m struggling with this Trial, the PI restriction spanning multiple classes might have been useful when Trials had some actual difficulty and you could force 1 AI into a slower car as a tactic but not anymore, the only reason I could think of now is purely to give yourself a bigger challenge.

I’d love to be wrong here and see scaling is back but I’m guessing whichever car someone chooses their equivalent AI will just use a stock vehicle within that car’s class.

With the ease of Trial AI now I don’t think it will be completely impossible to get 600pts in the races using a D class vehicle this week.

I can sort of see why they’ve done it on Gauntlet. Some people may prefer not to do dirt races in S1 but it does allow those of us who are comfortable doing so to use S1 class Rally Monsters. Obviously it won’t be any sort of actual race but at least we will get done more quickly.

@ziperrPL this feels like a challenge for you…

What is the point in this? FH4 managed throughout the playlist to have decent prizes for championships, either returning exclusives or relatively high value cars. A 20,000 car prize, which can’t even be converted to cash, is a complete waste of a prize slot. There’s plenty of former exclusives now - please can the devs be told to start using them.

I presume the reason is because this car is needed for the Weekly Event, although I agree it feels a waste, and not really a lot of incentive to run the championship if you have already grabbed the prize cars this week. They should at least have the option to swop it for a super wheelspin.

I’d understand if it was an Autoshow only Alpine, but then again there’s an achievement for buying 400 cars and these poor prizes kind of undermine it.

Sure, and as a one-off that might be fine (if unnecessary as no one is going to have a problem getting a 20,000 credit Autoshow car) but it’s a consistent theme. They might as well give no prizes for the championships at all and that would be leas irritating than having to go and delete the pointless Autoshow cars which we’ve “won”.

Can I at least make it in D500?

What if prizes weren’t tied to the weekly chorelist. What if instead a new set of rewards were added to a shop which could be purchased via points. Giving you the player the choice on what you wanted to purchase.

What if these points were obtainable by playing all facets of the game, not just the weekly chorelist. Again giving you the player the choice of how you wanted to accumulate points.

What if the weekly shop wasn’t weekly but rather monthly where you the player had ample time to unlock those rewards you care about.

Big brain theory.

We can all revamp the system completely to be better. PGG seem to insist on making an already flawed system worse. Just think of the easy things that are worse in the playlist compared to FH4:

  • Consistent use of cheap Autoshow cars as prizes;

  • No backstage passes;

  • No ability for players to choose the difficulty level for championships.

That’s without even going into the banal waste of time which they’ve made the trial by dumbing down the AI to an extent it’s near impossible to lose.

I don’t know much about the history of Forza but I did watch this 30 min video on the history of Forza . I can’t comment on how accurate it is but it does make sense and gives a good summary of the ups and downs and the overall direction both Motorsport and Horizon has taken over the years. It also reminds me of stuff that @TheGillesMuller has mentioned in the past.

On reflection it doesn’t really go into much detail about Horizon. It’s more focused on Motorsport. But there are similarities. Specifically when the focus is on graphics then gameplay suffers. That seems like FH5s issue. They have focused on autoscaling in the cloud, graphics etc, which is cool and all but this has resulted in sacrifices to the core gameplay and the map itself.

Another easy trial this week, only 1 of the AI was anywhere near unbeatable, the rest just fell straight to the back and we did it in easily in 2 races. Enjoyed the EventLab though.

Super7 is another wasted prize place. I think this week is the first time in almost 12 months where the car is an exclusive playlist car rather than a Wheelspin or an autoshow car.

Trial was fun! Aside from the silly teammates it was easy, I used the WP Bronco

I don’t think I’ve run the Gauntlet since the first couple of months after launch, forgot just how long it is. Especially not knowing the route, it’s going to be over 20 min.

The event lab brought my poor One S with SSD to a crawl a couple of times.

I’m confused. Trial and Gauntlet championship are supposed to be multiclass?
In Trial I can only pick B class. And for Gauntlet car category is Rally Monsters and all of them start as S1 cars. Am I missing soemthing?

And on top of that, next Tuesday’s daily is winning the Baja California Trail in a Classic Rally car, which is one of the routes in the championship. So a little synergy forethought would have moved that daily earlier in the playlist, or used a different route / type to avoid a redundant race. Or make people wait most of the week before doing the weekly challenge.
