PopGod added a bit of tension in at the end, they were on 600 when I initially finished, then when I saw them drop to 300 I thought they’d blown it and we was going to a 3rd race, can only guess they missed a checkpoint but luckily Teagan must have been an absolute mile behind when they did.
The stock user who stayed must be chuffed, getting the 10pts for basically just happening to be on the track at the same time a race was going on
I also changed to white walls at the last minute for the Mini, didn’t share the slicks one or this because there’s no real utility for it outside of this Trial, the days of it + the Renault 4L being top tier D class handling cars were blown away instantly by the arrival of the car that won last week’s backstage vote.
There was nothing more needed, especially another video that takes forever to run through to get to the salient points. These vids could be about 10 secs long (or preferably a couple of lines of text instead).
while I agree many videos of this nature are totally pointless I don’t mind them being in these playlist threads, thing that is irritating is that they’re always posted in the “general” thread which (1) means T10MM has to move them, (2) is a repeated action and (3) is arguably a little bit arrogant; they’re not so important they need to be advertised outside these threads
In the Trial, I was really surprised to see that I was the only one with a D,500 tune. All the rest were stock. I don’t like showing up at the Trial without a tuned car as it’s normally only a couple that do.
Obviously I ended up in 1st place in both races with a couple of players dropping out in race 1 and the others all finishing mid pack in both races. We won 1st race by a slim margin, 2nd by a slightly better one, so at least it was still a two and done.
Agreed, it may not be the worst thing a person could post on here but I don’t think any of us would get away with essentially completely and repeatedly ignoring something that’s been made very clear.
But if you remember when people used to go into the separate thread and say the truth about most of those videos they were shut down for it, because let’s be honest barring a very occasional anomaly a video isn’t necessary in any capacity for seasonal stuff, it isn’t toxic or hostile to think or say that, it’s the truth.
The trial was quite a shock for me. I placed 1st or 2nd in all five races (yep, terrible teammates in the first try). I have never done that well in the trial. I passed nearly all the AI very early in each of the races.
I think videos can be helpful which is why I make them but I don’t think that people should be spamming the forums with them as usually happens every week. It’s easy enough to go to YT or other site and find things without polluting things here
This is why I don’t post videos here unless there is very specific need. If people want to watch my videos, they know where they are. I don’t need to spam the forum like some other creators do.
I will drop screenshots for visual illustrations of locations etc because it is often easier for people to use than follow text descriptions (show not tell) and easy to ignore for anyone not interested
Went with a rally tire build this time. The drivatars were more competitive today than when I ran it last night but still easy enough 1st place finishes.
I don’t like the rally tires as much as vintage white walls but even with a top speed of less than 100mph you’re going outhandle everyone else to the finish line.
Shared the tune for those that like to try out different builds.
I don’t think the cornering is noticeably worse, especially on the wet roads of Chihuahua. Still going full throttle for most of both circuits.
Like I mentioned, don’t like the rallies as much as vintage white walls or even street tires but they’re still viable and a much better driving experience than the stock tires that someone was pushing.
Not everything needs to be looked at through the lens of rivals times.
I did the trial about 20 times this week and won all races on white walls or slicks. But there were trials where I would have lost all races to another player had I been on rallies despite near perfect lines. Most trials are complete cakewalks and first can be had with the stock option (not the mini trial if anyone is D 500, but pretty much all the others). But not all trials can be won against anyone in anything.
Using rallies in the mini trial is like intentionally holding yourself back to try to win in something lesser. It only makes sense in that way, though … similar to using the stock option. Just not a good build. But at least when using the stock option other players know they arent facing your A game.
In terms of race competitiveness, rally tires are the worst tire choice if the goal is to win at least one race. Slowest at Lookout, second slowest at Chihuahua. Doesnt mean it cant be done, but someone with equal skill on stocks at Lookout is going to beat the equal player on rallies.
I’ve ran the Trial a dozen or more times this weekend and the finishing times between different tire choices have all been very similar for me with the exception of stock.
I’m sure there are lots of good drivers that do well with stock tires, but they haven’t been in any of my races.
I found the rally tires to be a pleasant driving experience even if they aren’t going to set a top rivals time and I’ve had fun trying out different tire choices this weekend.
I know there are a lot of players that enjoy replaying the Trial and I don’t see anything wrong with having different builds available for players to try out.
