Cars should drive faster in pit area, to save time. This would save time for strategic options. Especially on tracks with long pit lanes, its hard to collect enough time for a additional stop.
Maybe its not realistic, but some tracks got potential to save time this way.
Indeed. And when you write “maybe its not realistic” - we already have
- tire change in 2.5 seconds (that also counts for the street rims)
- refueling in 2.5 seconds (and it doesn’t regard the amount of fuel that gets added)
- changing brakes, gearboxes oder engines in 10 seconds
So we don’t really have to talk about how realistic this suggestion might be. We rather can completely focus on how the overall gameplay experience can be made better.
Great idea! Modifiable pit stop times would be an additional tool for developers to increase or decrease the effectiveness of various strategies across a wider variety of race lengths. Imagine the excitement it could bring. Even a short 6 lap race could potentially equalize a no stopper on hards vs a soft-soft strat with the appropriate pit time mod and tire deg. And its 100% realistic, just frame it as an increase or decrease in the pit lane speed limit. Well maybe 99% realistic, long pit lanes like leguna seca would probably need a 200 mph pit lane speed limit to equalize a no stopper🤣
