I feel like 4x wear will likely make this worse, currently there is only one competitive strategy for races where it is possible to no stop. This is even worse at tracks like Daytona or Laguna where there is a very long pit exit and you have sit at an incredibly slow pit exit speed losing time.
This makes for pretty much no variety, only the hard no stop will be competitive and anyone running any other tyre will likely lose at least 10 seconds racetime for doing so. A mandatory stop will at least mean a mix of people starting on soft or medium, some trying to stretch into a soft/softs strategy etc.
Ideally longer term the pit exit speed can be modified to reduce the time loss for pitting and the tyre grip can be rebalanced to try and make the no stop more competitive with other strategies
100% something needs to change with pit lanes. It is almost never viable to stop if you could have kept going, every race I do is hard tires and no pit stop. It doesnt help that the driver takes the pit lanes like theyre doing a weekly food shop.
Id also like to see pit lanes overhauled to be much faster, even if its unrealistic. Put the car on rails at a 120mph speed limit or something, and make them take off after the pit stop instead of gently pulling away. Could probably shorten the pit time by 5 seconds with these changes.
…that’s what I requested longer term, for it to be rebalanced so the no stop is competitive with other strategies.
In the meantime, would be preferable if anyone who actually wanted to be competitive in a race didn’t have to drive around on the worst tyres with no grip because anything else loses over 10 seconds.
