Updated Tire Wear Scalar for all Short and Medium length races to 4x, making tire wear consistent across Short, Medium, and Long races in Featured Multiplayer.

I’ve started doing a bit more MP recently. With medium races now being c. 18 minutes and x4 tyre wear, would I be correct in assuming medium tyres won’t last, so it’s a pitstop or hards/sports?
Whoa, that was a ton of information to digest. It’s a surprisingly big update
I was sceptical about the Sunset Peninsula but I think I’m going to like this track after all. It seems much more lively than in Forza Motorsport 4
More diversity in Challenge Hub is another welcome change, the same goes for continous improvements to AI and car sounds.
And I think 12 cars added at once make up for smaller updates released earlier in the year… even if most of them are different models from one family
EDIT: Not sure why my post was moved, I didn’t mention tire wear
I’m not sure why the change in tire wear was necessary. It makes short races even less appealing and medium races “no stops”. I get consistency, but this seems to be an unnecessary change.
Here’s hoping that the penalty system stops giving penalties to drivers who are rear-ended or pitted.
Oh wow, so it sounds like it’s mainly just making it possible to run softs for pretty much any medium race if those figures are accurate? That feels a bizarre change to make.
Tire wear was way too high in multiplayer. It further disadvantaged FWD and AWD. Also, soft tires IRL last longer than 15 minutes in everything other than F1.
I drove it over the weekend and the Vintage Race tyres would do roughly 2/3rds race distance.
Now, if my math is right they should just about do a full race, maybe 1 lap shy. No stop was viable on specific tracks previously if you were extremely careful, now it’s basically the optimal strategy.
Oh man, why can you just not help but shoot yourselves in the foot? would have been a great update is ruined by the 4x tyre wear. What’s the thinking behind this? May as well just remove the tyre options from MP now.
The two complaints I hear most often from friends that either race IRL themselves or are part of IRL teams is that fantasy tracks are way too wide and tire wear in multiplayer is way too high.
That would be okay if soft tires were balanced. But this update renders all street/sport tires builds useless - which is my entire garage above E-class.
hmm another reason why x4 is bad… there are some cars that just eat tyres… [any 2000kg brick], on a class suzuka gp, u would not be able to finish race on medium with these cars, but u could use sports and be somewhat competive…
Now on same track u will get meta that can soft abuse whole race… and bricks that will be offpace cuz sports are not on soft tyre pace…
Just simple suggestion, change tyre wear depending on class [for short races]:
E x8
D x7.5
C x7
B x6.5 [i’m looking at u exocet]
A x6
S x5.5
R x5
P x4.5
X x4…
If softs were truly balanced to sport/streets it would shift the meta off race tires. It’s much easier to pass on a straight with superior HP than it is to pass in a corner. We are also stuck with standing starts, so the additional launch capabilities of sports/streets puts race tires at a further disadvantage.
Besides, there’s nothing stopping you from running slicks except your own personal choice.
That’s just simply not true. Much easier to overtake on a compound due to exit speed out of a corner not to mention overtakes on under braking . Its not about one META replacing another, it should be about other viable options and variety
4x tire wear scale for short races is horrible decision… all the cars can now just use softs making all the other tire choices worthless. What is point of having sport and street tires in the game?
