Here’s suggestion for damage fixing - that we can choose what to fix while in pits. Here you can see pit screen from Toca World Touring cars - there were like 3 stages of damage (yellow, orange, red) for each segment, the more broken it was, the more time it took to fix it. Here is selected engine on first step so it adds 10 seconds to the pit stop, broken gearbox and wheels aren’t selected so this would just fix the engine.
Also it would be nice to see more realistic pit times - it’s annoying to see F1 tyre change times. It should be a bit longer, also if car is more broken it should take some time to repair it - it’s ridiculous to have it fixed in like 6 seconds. Also refueling times should be tweaked to something more realistic.
Longer pit stops would be great to actually have tire strategy matter. As it is now with everyone having an F1 pit crew theres never a reason to not take tires, but if you make a tire change take like 10-20 seconds then there can be a strategy of running a harder compound longer to avoid the time lost in the pits
In Featured Multiplayer most races are already at an optimal strategy of 1 or no-stop.
The balance in pace between tyre compounds is too close, and needs to be widened in order for varying pit strategies to be viable.
Hards should be 5% slower than Softs at minimum, and not the 1.5% they are at the moment.
A pitstop in a Medium length race takes about 2.5% of the overall race time. A longer pitstop would take even more, and so long as the tyre grip isn’t balanced to account for this, the optimal strategy will be to take the fewest stops possible.
