That’s very unfortuate too. I loved driving next to for example Carrera GT and hearing that signature sound it makes.
Here’s what I posted in Feature WIshlist Thread on the sounds, hope everyone agrees and if there are any more cars that need a change and are not on the list, but really need change (if they sound acceptable then let them be, devs can only do so much) then please let me know.
"(parts of the post were already posted but I decided to connect the lists I and Levix IV made to make one updated list)
Dear Turn 10 and Playground Games
There are cars that used to sound much better in previous games. Many sounds are also copy/pasted, even when cars are very different. Forza Horizon 3 was better in terms of sounds accuracy than Forza Horizon 4. I don’t expect completely new sounds (some newest cars like Alfa Romeo Giulia Quadrifoglio should be recorded though) but reusing already good sound files from FH3 will be prefectly fine.
If it’s needed everyone can update, copy and share the list wherever they want to.
Some positions on the lists are courtesy of Levix IV who made a good list as well, just thought it would be good to have it all in one. I also updated some of my entries.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NMToNfSCF_0 - a video showing some problems with the sounds, part 2 is on the way. This one has already almost 30k views and around 2600 upvotes (at time of writing) with many people expressing their concerns about the sounds in the comments. (currently has much more)
Here’s the list of sounds I and other members of the community found wrong: (based not just on me but also reading forums, those are not just my concerns)
-VTEC Sound - Honda Civic 1997, 2004, 2007, 2016, Acura Integra, Acura RSX, VVT engine swap. All share the same sound that most strongly disliked. Used to sound much better in FH3 and had more variety. The interior sound is good but the exhaust sound is very bad in all the opinions I seen on this sound.
-Audi TTS - Shares sound with VTEC. Sounded great in FH3.
-Mazda RX8 - Had a better sound in FH3, more pleasing to ears. The current exhaust sounds somewhat similiar to VTEC sound in the game…
-Ford Focus RS MK II - As pointed out by anothee user, sounded a bit better and more accurate in FH3.
-Ford Mustang GT350R - Had a great sound in FM7.
-Ford GT 2018 - Had a better sound in FH3.
-Maserati Grandsport S and Alfa Romeo 8C - They both need the sound of Grandsport from FH3. 8C has the same engine in real life as the Maserati and been using the wrong sound for a long time.
-Kia Stinger - used to sound better in FM7
-Dodge Charger Hellcat - also better sound in FM7
-Ferrari FXXK and LaFerrari - Sounds very generic, had great unique sounds in FH3.
-Ferrari 488 GTB- used to sound good in FH3
-Pagani - Generic sounds, they all used to be better and unique in FH3
-McLaren P1 - had much better sound in FH3
-Dodge Viper V10 - You can barely hear the signature Viper note. It sounds a bit like an V8. Sound is good previous titles (FH3 and FM7)
-#2 Audi Sport quattro S1: sounds good on its own but there is an extreme lack of volume of the turbo chirp.and flutter. This was also the same in Motorsport 7. Please add this in.
-Mercedes C63 Black Series - Had a better sound in FM7.
-Ford Falcon XA GT-HO - better sound in FH3
-Ferrari Enzo - sounds a bit weak. It needs a better sound…
-Ferrari F430 Scuderia - Didn’t test it but it has been said that it has 458 sound. Needs it’s unique sound from FH3 back.
-Ferrari 458 and Speciale - Needs FH3 sound back.
-TVR Cerbera 12 - Sounds a bit weak for a monster it is in real life.
-Porsche Carrera GT - FH3 sound was so much better. New one doesn’t have the high pitched “scream” the old one has. (in interior view it’s actually accurate but the exterior view needs FH3 sound back)
- Porsche Cayman GTS\GT4 - sound isn’t too bad but FH3 had better exhaust crackle sounds.
-Nissan RB26 - Skyline R32\33\34. Used to be so much better in FH3 (R32\R33 sound) and great in FM6. New one doesn’t sound like the real one. (The recent update changed the sound, but it’s according to community even worse)
-Alfa Romeo Giulia Quadrifoglio - intrestingly this one sounds more like RB26 than actual Skylines as shown in the video. Doesn’t sound like Alfa though.
-BMW M4 - Was a bit better in FM7.
-BMW M4 GTS, 1M, M2 - Those had a very good sounds in FH3, they need to be brought back. In FH4 they share sounds with RB26 Skylines (all inaccurate)
-BMW I8 - Sounded a bit more refined in FH3.
-1966 Ford Lotus Cortina: has the wrong sound and sounded very accurate with its 1.6 litre twin-cam in Horizon 3. It sounds nothing like it does in real life.
-Mercedes-Benz 190e 2.5-16 Evolution II: sounds like a very generic four-cylinder engine… something similar sounding like the Ford Escort RS1600 MKI. It sounded its best in Forza Horizon 3.
-2011 Ford Transit SuperSport Van: has a generic diesel sound that does not sound like a diesel inline-5 turbo. It sounded very accurate and decent in Forza Horizon 3.
-MG Metro 6R4: the sound it too sharp and lacks the crackling noises in this game. Sounded its best in Forza Horizon 3.
-Subaru Impreza and Legacy - All used to be better in FH3.
-Formula Drift cars - most if not all of them have significantly worse sound than FM7 which had a good sound for those cars.
-Cars with DSG gearbox need to make distinct sound during upshifts like in FH3.
Please also look at other lists above as well as big positive feedback on the video by Fast Lane Gaming. There are people who love your game who are passionate about cars and having the realistic sound is to us just as important (if not more) as good graphics and new features. We were making those posts since FM7 (which also suffered from worse engine sounds than previous games, many of which carried over to FH4). There are dozens of pages and hundreds of posts in sound threads for both games where people are concerned about the sounds and we still hope old better sounds can be brought back. Hope you’ll listen to us, finally…
With best regards
