Dear devs, I am glad that you are still adding stories to the game. You can argue about the entertainment value of this story and whether you think these guys are funny. It’s not everybody’s cup of tea. And that’s absolutely fine! They are unique characters and it’s a step up from previous stories, whose target audience were… well, preschoolers?. But at least the technical implementation of the story should meet certain standards.
I was annoyed that the flatbed truck racing in the second to last chapter was almost identical in both story lines. The whole idea is the same and the routes are 50% identical. Moreover, the Nissan Z’s are obviously moving like turtles in that chapter…
But then: Surprise!!! The last chapters are absolutely identical in both story lines. Again, you have to endure that laggy menu and add all parts marked with an exclamation mark - which is explained nowhere. When I am done, I get a some phrase that all criteria are met. Why was there no hint before that I have to do that? Moreover, I am getting “rewarded” with 2 Nissan Z’s in my overcrowded garage that I have to remove manually…
Well. at least it was a step up from the 1st Donut Media story…

Yeah I wonder how many people like me spent a lot of time upgrading the car and never meeting the requirements in the final chapter? Wasn’t exactly obvious that you had to install parts marked with an exclamation mark. An hour or two later after figuring this out the challenge was actually a lot of fun as I had to have a couple of goes to get my car right and let it wind out to a high top speed.

It was a step up in some regards, but this is still one of the weaker stories that we’ve had thus far (though that’s not saying much as pretty much every story in 5 has been awful across the board).
One thing I absolutely hated was the repetition, and I’m not just talking about how the two branching stories were mirror images of each other. Every mission, sans one, was a “get here before time runs out” mission. Very boring and uninspired.
Plus, the final mission was just very ill-conceived. The upgrade section emphasizes using upgrades to improve handling, yet the majority of the mission is a glorified drag race that you actually need performance parts in order to secure a three-star time. Like, was this not play tested?
Whitelight said it the best in his video on Horizon 5. In regards to the stories, Playground can’t make up their minds on whether or not they want players to follow the rules to three-star a mission, or break the rules to three-star a mission. It makes for very confusing and boring gameplay. Add the bad dialogue, and it only gets worse.

I think stories are one of the most useless and offensive things they could add into the game.
Here we are, with the core gameplay and the racing endgame in particular in a horrid state, ignored and unsupported by the devs, and they’re wasting valuable time and manpower building these advertisements thinly disguised as stories.
The rules of the forums will not allow me to accurately convey the amount of negativity I feel about this situation, or how disrespected I feel as a consumer.
The best I could do was making this thread: Stop with the product tie-ins

I totally support your point of view @TheWarmWind76 . It’s why I barely play this game anymore. Get my 20 point car and move along. It’s sickening how this game is just going on business as usual. It’s why I will not buy any other Forza franchise game in the future. Time has come to move on the greener games.

I liked the part of Z history the most. Other parts are Ok.
The upgrade part should have gone to more depth, like tuning alignment, differential, and suspension.
Overall, this story is way way better than the 5 parts of Donut in Series 14.

Lol the intro was mindblowing, when he said team high go north and team low go south, make you choice. yet we all was going to the same place

Yeah, I was looking for the choice or diverging cars and… nothing ? Like maybe they planned to do it but then, wth, why bother, just mail it in like usual.

I defnitely agree! That was the highlight of the story. Forza Horizon can use a lot more of that: actual information and history about cars instead of mindless chatter…

Sad thing is, this game really doesn’t have competition when it comes to open world racing.
I also play Dirt Rally 2.0, Art of Rally, Project Cars 2, and Gran Turismo 7.
Dirt Rally 2.0 is a phenomenal rally game (my personal favourite motorsport), but it lacks the variety of FH, genuine downtime with cars, and the car list is microscopic in comparison.
Art of Rally is some truly fantastic Indy game stuff, but lacks scope (very understandable given the size of it’s development team) and could never be my “main” racing game.
Project cars 2, like most track based sim racers, does a little too much railroading for my tastes. It can consume an evening, but rarely do I pine to play it.
Gran Turismo 7 is a similar story to project cars 2, except it’s got an extra layer of railroading in its own unique Gran Turismo way. I mostly bought it because it was on sale and it’s a cool tech demo of the potential of the PlayStation controller (I’m stuck on controller due to wheel+pedals aggravating an old injury).
I also played 60 hours of WRC generations, which was the perfect amount of time to enjoy it without it’s many obvious and egregious issues bothering me too much. I fear if I pick it up again that will no longer be the case.
I’m kind of locked into FH, for better or worse.
Side note: I know The Crew (and sequels) are seen by many as competition to FH, but I’m a physics snob. I can tolerate many concessions, but those games do a few of my deal-breakers.

But without the “popup popup popup popdown” and “hersepurrs” or whatever inanity kewl they were speaking. I get it, that’s their “brand” thing, but, no.

Every now and then I play chapter 9 of Made in Mexico story. It has the same theme, history of CarreraPanamericana race, with the amazing intro music.

If this is the Donut media pack, why they spell Donut wrong?!
If I was Donut media, I’d be well peed!
The last chapter should work the same as the intro one, do it once and it counts as completed on both sides.
Already said pretty much what OP said in the weekly thread but from the moment the truck is on that road before the start of Costa Rocosa everything is a carbon copy, same route, same dialogue, same finish line, same time limit etc.
You’d have thought for a final chapter they’d have some big, bombastic almost showcase style event.

I’ve been on TC2 for about the past 6 series or more of FH5. And while I would not call TC2 a simcade (I wouldn’t call FH5 one either) I wouldn’t pass it off as a nfs arcade game either. There are aspects of TC2 physics I much prefer over FH5. Guard rails, FH5 they are just break away eye candy, TC2 they are real and if you hit them you pay a price in speed or direction. Running off the pavement, in FH5 it’s nothing no speed loss no traction loss big physics fail in their friction coefficients. In TC2 you run off pavement you lose both traction and speed. That to me is physics done right. And in offroad racing, in FH5 the grass and dirt has traction coefficients very similar to pavement, while in TC2 your car handles differently as you transition from grass to dirt to gravel and back.
And handling in FH5, I don’t know if it is due to playing from the cloud, but handling now is awful. Straight line handling is the worst. The is terrible over correction hysteresis. Making Straight line driving nearly impossible. To stop the wobbling I have to just let go of the control stick until the car Straightens out then regain control. Adjusting the advanced controls has helped, but it still won’t go away completely.
And adjusting advanced control settings in TC2 has given me car control that rivals anything from FH4 or FM7. Maybe TC2 has upgraded their physics model with some of their latest updates. But those who are bashing the physics of TC2 maybe should give the game another shot.
Plus, TC2 has no dumbnut media

If you restart the Up To Speed chapter of the Hi Story the game hangs in the end of the race.

The children in the fh5 game would never tolerate a real world driving experience…hence the lack of wheel support. Tried TC2 with a thrustmaster wheel and found the physics superior to say the least. If u move from a controller to a wheel both games become even more realistic, and except for the redonkulous story lines in FH5, very enjoyable.

Yeah, that one bugged out for me and at least one other after using the Retry function. Froze up solid. Had to restart the xbox and game and get it done without resorting to Retry.
