[Discussion] Were you Satisfied with the Contents of the Car Pass?

I’d like to see what the forum community has to say about the Car Pass as a whole. This thread is merely meant to generate discussion and feedback about and on the Car Pass, not to harass others, not to drop every car you want in here, not about Barn Finds, Forzathon, or anything else unrelated to the topic at hand. In addition, this thread, as the title would imply, covers information about the Car Pass cars, not DLC cars obtained from other means such as VIP and Blizzard Mountain. I started this thread as an opportunity for players to express their feelings about the Car Pass contents, hopefully sharing pieces of advice or fun facts with each other and/or as feedback for Turn 10 on how to go about Car Passes in the future. This likely will have little to no effect on the Car Pass for FM7, but it may serve as a helpful guide for them when selecting cars to go into each pack.

If you want to say what cars you’d like to see added into this game, please use this thread.

As a reminder of what we have gotten, we’ve received a total of 42 extra cars for $29.99. Use whatever currency applies to you if needed.

Small interesting notes:

-Of all the brands featured in the Car Pass, four of them were otherwise not in the game at all, with three of them ( HDT, Spania GTA, Talbot) being entirely new to the franchise. The fourth is Morgan, last featured in FM4, in case you were wondering.

-Many of these cars were highly requested, including the BMW i8, the most requested car.

Back to the question ultimately at hand, are you satisfied with the contents of the car pack? Personally, I believe the car packs as a whole were rather varied in car selection, with most divisions in this game receiving at least one more car to their roster, and despite the majority of the cars belonging to the 2010s category, there were enough older cars to nearly break even to the millennium.

Some questions you may answer in your response if you wish.

  • What was your favorite car pack? Why?
  • What was your least favorite car pack? Why?
  • What was your favorite car? Why?
  • What was your least favorite car? Why?
  • Do you feel the value per monetary unit was in your favor? Why or why not?
  • Do you feel the price should be raised, lowered, or remain the same?
  • Would you like to see the Car Pass covered to include all future DLC packs, at a higher cost?

Above all else, I leave all of you with this suggestion.

PLEASE DO NOT: Insult, harass, or offend any other user or possible Turn 10 member in this thread. Everyone has their own opinions about this game and its DLC; you can disagree with someone without resorting to a fight. None of you are wrong, none of you are right. That’s how opinions work.

I’m satisified, as I know not to expect everything I want, yet I respect the cars that they’ve added, and I even have some new favorites!

I am not satisfied with the PI system in the game. I am not satisfied that cars are added that can not hit max pi in any class. I am not satisfied with engine swaps. I want cars sounding like v8s that can compete.

If these things were different then i would be satisfied with the car selection in the car pass. So i am not critcising the car pass contents but more the base game not allowing the car variety to really shine.

can you tell me what happens after March? Can you still get these cars? I don’t understand the car pass in full and I. Ant see a good explanation anywhere.

I know you can buy the all car pass and you get all cars released until March but what after that? Are they just available to anyone to buy using CR?

Thanks in advance.

Im satisfied but not happy. There is an abundence of cars missing such as the EG Civic, Lexus IS300 and the De Tomaso pantera, cars that have appeared in the past and were loved but are ignored now due to supposedly new better cars and reskins which truly and frankly, in lesser terms than i can say. Annoy me. The M3 GTS, Hyura race thing and the new Camaro. All just cars that they made a change or 2 to make “new”.

I know times change but the community cried for these cars and were ignored. Even Forza 4 did a better job with more cars from DLC and even more free ones. Still the graphics, gameplay and just overall new content has kept me pretty happy as a PC gamer but i dont feel i will be buying Forza motorsport 7 unless they bring back Fumiji Kaido and a good list of cars to kick. Well done playground for getting my sale on PC but as for the next one, prove us you listen.

ps. dont give out an unpacked version of the game next time, you know we are so going to mod it and have real cars now due to your mistake.

pps. im a long time fan playing since Forza 3 in 07 on another account.

Yeah.
28/42 cars were from my interest.
If I were to buy them separated it would cost way more than the whole car pass package, so I guess it was worth it.

Excellent info breakdown! Love it.

I agree with SatNiteEduardo, it’s frustrating when cars aren’t given parts to reach the top of their class. It would be something of a mental comfort to know that there are licensing restrictions that prevent the developers from doing it, because otherwise it seems like they aren’t taking advantage of their power to make any upgrade possible.

I enjoy pretty much any car because I’m always learning something new. I never knew about a lot of these models.
Though I don’t play cops and robbers, I liked the addition of a police car with active lights for the potential of photo/video shoots, or just multiplayer fun.
The most fun to drive car for me has been the Morgan 3-Wheeler. Plus it’s great having that variety of style in the game.
My favorite car is probably the Renault Alpine GTA, which I find pretty good for A-class tarmac courses. I love those 80s wedge design cars. The BMW 507 might be the most beautiful design.
I’ve also had a lot of fun in the Jeep CJ-5 for offroading.
Favorite pack overall might be the October Smoking Tire but I’ve used/enjoyed cars from each, so it’s hard to pick a least favorite.
As a decade, I’ve probably used mid-1990s cars the least.
Glad they got the Silvia and the i8 in the game so the calls to add them would subside.

There are plenty of comments about the Car Pass not covering all DLC, but I’m never bothered by it. Ultimately my wallet is my Car Pass, and I don’t find it difficult to go in the game and make that purchase. I don’t have the bandwidth limitations that some regions do, or the budget limitations that students do. The price doesn’t bother me. I suppose I can understand the perspective that players will make the entry investment in the game and then feel like they’re over a barrel of buying further released content or missing out, but in the end everyone has to make their own value judgement about what is worth buying.

The other thing to keep in mind is that the “Car Pass” isn’t really its own thing, it’s just a discount on other existing things. So has T10’s DLC offering been good? Has it been worth it? At a buck-per-car, I’d say yes. Adding cars helps keep the traffic fresh even if I never drive them myself. By comparison the song list feels much more repetitive (of course there’s the bypass adding many more songs yourself with Groove).

Great to see that overall, people were happy with what they got.

I figured if anyone here would, it’d be you

Took me around three hours to do too, so I’m glad someone does!

Rather than remain anonymous, I should put in my own feedback.

Overall, I am satisfied with the Car Pass. Of all the gripes I have with the game/franchise as of 2017, the car roster never was bad, and the DLC wasn’t either. I have received a few of my personal wishlist cars in the Car Pass, as well as finding some that I hope make it in to the next game.

I do completely understand the complaints with the PI system though. I can easily see why that would diminish your enjoyment of the cars, even if you didn’t think many (if any) of them were bad.

My favorite car pack was a tie between the October and February car packs. I felt both packs entirely suited my vehicular interests or interested me enough to try them out.

My least favorite car pack was the January car pack. I did love the addition of the i8 and the R31, and I’ve come around to the XA and RXC. The Bentley and F-150 TT didn’t particularly suit me though, and the Volvo felt redundant. Not bad, just redundant.

My favorite car…honestly…this was a pretty bad question  If you were to ask me what my favorite car is in real life, I’d ask you under what parameters. “My favorite 80s wagon is…My favorite 90s supercar is…My favorite underappreciated car is…”. Nice to see a couple Renault Alpine GTA comments though! I think it’s a great car myself!

My least favorite car was probably the Bentley Bentayga. This isn’t a bad car, I’m just not really a fan of high-end luxury cars and SUVs. Needless to say, a high-end luxury SUV isn’t on the top of my enjoyment list.

Overall, I do think the value was good for the dollar I put in. I’d bring up examples of games I spent the same or less amount of money on, but those were all on sale. Come to think of it, it was a great value for the money, because I technically got it free! (Amazon Prime member; got the Ultimate Edition for the price of the Deluxe Edition)

As stands, I feel the price is fine where it is.

I would like to see the Car Pass cover all the monthly car packs (at higher cost), but I’m not horribly bothered by the current system as is. A cost vs. content ratio favors adding more. $30 for six packs vs. $50 for 11…that does require T10/PG release 11 packs though.

I do like that they have added Aussie cars but almost all of them seem to be handling beasts that struggle for top end even with engine swaps. Not sure why that may be.

I would say overall I was pretty happy with the cars added, it’s the base game and problems within it that I’m not happy with. Obviously there are a few cars I really wanted to come in like the 675lt, BMW Z8 And Z3 and a whole load of others but I go into a car pack expecting nothing so that way it always surprises me. I was happy with a lot of the cars added and out of the whole pass I would say there was only a handful I didn’t care for. Honestly the car pass is like a lucky dip. You win some you lose some and I think mostly it’s bin a win not a lose. I also do love the variety you get with the car pass. I’ve never really driven Australian cars so driving them was really cool and I’ve grown quite fond of them. So the variety and boldness of the car pack I appreciate for making me take a second look at cars I would previously had not even glanced at.

I’m okay with the cars in general, there have been cars added that I really like from all ages. The one major disappointment though is this: for a game where the buggy class was introduced with a lot of fanfare and marketing we have seen ZERO new buggies. :frowning: And that for a car class that is already so little represented in a game with a lot of offroad content. I was also rather shocked they added that Volvo V60 as a payed DLC car while it’s just the same as the S60 but in wagon version. But then again, that same update we got that lovely classic Volvo as a barn find as well.

On the positive side, I live in Belgium and even I really liked how they kept putting out more Holdens and Ford AUS cars with the DLC packs. I’m happy for the Australian fans who probably don’t see their cars in any other game and I have to admit, it was fun for me to experience Australian car culture as well. Before FH3 I never even heard about a ute.

However this is probably the last time ever I buy any ultimate edition or car pack for the Forza franchise. 80-90% of what you get is free in the next release somewhere between 6-12 months anyway. I didn’t buy any of the DLC car packs after my FM6 ultimate edition ran out, not because I can’t afford it but simply out of protest. No game should ever have more cars than the garage can hold. Anyway, 6 months later the majority of those cars I missed out were in the base game of FH3 anyway which made the FH3 start for me that much more enjoyable as well. Planning to do the exact same thing now, even though I think they did it right with the garage car limit and the amount of cars in FH3, I’m simply not interested anymore. Even now I barely play the game anymore. Once you do all the exhibitions and championships there is little left to enjoy, especially with this ridiculous AI difficulty behavior.

I don’t even think I will get FM7, if it’s just going to feel FM6.1 with offroad and trophy trucks then I’m not interested at all. They seriously gotta revamp the core of their game, get rid of the ridiculous “assists” and make it more realistic. Project CARS 2 looks a lot more interesting to me, I’m super hyped about that one! I’ll make the final decision on FM7 once they announce the game though but so far I think I will just pass. Turn 10 simply don’t have the guts to really revamp their game IMO. If in FM7 you can again import tunes form previous games then they already failed because that means nothing has changed at all. Maybe if I want a second game next to PCARS2 I should just give GT Sport a try since I now got a PS4 Pro anyway (bought it for Horizon Zero Dawn - amazing game and a nice refreshment from all the racing games I’ve been playing the past 2-3 years). But then again, Polyphony sure isn’t anymore what it used to be with releases being years behind schedule and this silly Vision GT nonsense.

Anyway that’s how I feel now. I really do hope that Turn 10 get a grip on themselves and that they start putting some innovation in their game again. FM6 was just a copy/paste of FM5 with more cars and tracks but for the rest the exact same thing. Playground did a FAR better job with FH3 compared to FH2. But all that is nothing if you see what SMS is doing with PCARS2 compared to PCARS1… ooh boy.

In the end we are all racing fans, whether its arcade racers or sim racers. Some like to tune, some paint, some take photos all day long, some just race. I’m someone that really wants realism and immersion and FM6 simply cannot give me that, the entire game is way too arcade. But that is my personal opinion. For the FH series though, apart from the silly AI behavior I think Playground had it spot on. I’ve seen quite a lot of complaints here about FH3 how FH2 and even FH1 were better. I never understood that, for me FH3 seriously blows its predecessors out of the water.

I agree with a lot of your post, apart from the bolded part, and the comment about FH3 being better than 1/2. As long as they give the option for people to still use the assists, I’m okay with them going a more sim type route (as an option) for those that want it.

I appreciate the variety. I rarely use the cars in the DLC though because most don’t fit my taste. I love the FC RX7, NSX, and Viper ACR though. I won’t make this a wish thread, but I’m just a little disappointed certain cars were cut from the game even though they appeared in previous current gen iterations.

FH3 was my first Forza title ( well apart from the free FM6 Apex) and I went for the ultimate edition so I had no “previous”… after the disappointment of the PC experience I even went and bought the Xbox One S and 40" 4K to feed my addiction… Still wish they would fix it on the PC as I have a 5K setup…

Getting back to the packs that were part of the Carpass…

I am basically happy with whatever we get in the carpacks as by and large they are derived wherever possible from the community “wish list” rather than individual preference…

I’m not into the online scene so haven’t really got into tuning etc but is SNE says there are issues then I guess there must be…

Lately I have been playing a lot of FH2 and FM6 and have bought a lot of the DLC for them as well enjoyed the “Porsches” and even NASCAR !!!

I am very disappointed with the car pass.

The reason is because I am very disappointed in the PI system. The expense of handling options and the cheapness of horsepower has made this game and especially car choices uninteresting. In Horizon 2 the car pass was awesome because those cars were fun to build and race. The cars in Horizon 3 just aren’t as much fun to build and race because of the PI system. So any new cars added through the car pass aren’t really adding anything new. I have over 400 cars as it is and only race about 25 of them.

I love lots of things about Horizon 3 like blueprints and choosing online class. But the PI build system pretty much ruins the joy of building and testing cars since the system forces you into speed rather than handling builds. If you don’t build for speed you are uncompetitive. If they ever make a Horizon 4 I hope they harken back the balanced PI days of Horizon 2 and ditch this ridiculous H3 model.

The PI system is flawed, but honestly that wouldn’t matter if the roads were more technical and had tight switchbacks. The roads are wide and relatively straight which focus solely on top speed. That’s the main reason I like Surfers Paradise races, that’s the closest I can get to technical PAVED roads.

There hasn’t been many cars in the packs that I’ve really liked. All-in-all, I kinda regret going all in on the Ultimate Edition.

More than satisfied as being a car fan I love discovering vehicles I haven’t heard of or been able to try in other racing games. Sure there are plenty of cars I would personally like to see in the game but I’m not going to complain because I have been satisfied in another way.

Overall I think the Car Pass was pretty good. Most of the packs had a few cars I was interested in, and a couple I didn’t care about. Although, the January pack was the weakest for me, 4 of the cars were really poor in my opinion (Volvo, Trophy Truck, Falcon and Bentley). My favourite car from the car pass is a tough choice, the Lotus 340R, Talbot Sunbeam, FK2 Civic, Alpine and GT-R LM are probably my top 5 though. I didn’t expect to ever see the 340R or Sunbeam in Forza, so those additions were fantastic for me.
