The graphics of FM7 are really disappointing. Definitely the roads, lighting and the environments (especially the trees) are ugly and dull as hell. FM6 is eye candy for my eyes, unfortunately I can’t say this about FM7. With a new title you just expect nicer graphics than the ancestors had. I will keep playing FM6 until this issue in FM7 is sorted. These words come from a loyal Forza player. Please don’t come with negative critism about my post, you all now my facts are true.
I want to have two million polygons per frame at 60 fps and dynamic weather and TOD and lighting as well - but common sense dictates that comes at a price. I do wonder though, T10 always said they would only include new features if they could do them right. Cutting here to make it happen there seems very unT10.
Turn 10 had their backs to the wall because rival franchises have had dynamic weather for years. I think they felt they just couldn’t ignore the elephant in the room any longer. Unfortunately, it did come at a cost. The skies look nice, but by and large, F7 graphics are significantly less detailed than those from Forza 5 and 6. I played F7 and F6 back to back, and the differences were shocking. The cars, tracks, scenery, and backgrounds in Forza 7 were far less detailed than those from Forza 6. If you’re skeptical, try it yourself sometime. Maybe in the future, T10 will upgrade their game engine to handle this stuff (weather, day/night, 4K/HDR) more efficiently so graphics don’t take such a big hit. The bottom line is, compared to previous Forza games, 7 is kind of ugly.
The XBone only has so much horsepower. The graphics are amazing for hardware that’s been out for nearly four years. Go do a few laps in Forza 5, which still looks nice but feels very flat due to the lack of lighting effects.
Does it really matter?? …nope. FM7 is still a great looking game, and this time around the game doesn’t feel stale. Cutting back on a little detail in the scenery has given us a much better Forza…in my opinion.
The same can be said of 5 to 6. In 5 the backgrounds are more detailed, but the lighting effects come at a cost. Overall I see a net positive gain in graphics over the three, because lighting effects have a more dramatic impact than how finely textured the track-side grass is. Maybe you disagree, but absent the lighting everything looks flat and I don’t much care how much better the detail is because without dynamic shadows it all looks like a cartoon.
I don’t usually care for graphics and will take gameplay over graphics any day… but, my god, this game is ugly. It’s ugly to distraction. And, occasionally, needlessly dark. It almost feels like they want you to use that racing line, because you just can’t see the track in places (and, well, what’s with no brightness adjustment?).
This is a good-looking game. I am often distracted by details while racing, like the flock of birds that fly out of the trees at the start of the lap at Mugello or puffs of fog rolling off the track at Silverstone after the rain. Look at the road surface in the rain and there’s shiny wet places and not-shiny drier patches and puddles. They could have simply made a dark or shiny road texture and called it a day, but they went the extra mile.
I think you should be happy they are still supporting your system with the latest and greatest games. By the way, on newer hardware, the graphics are cutting edge. Now ask Mom and Dad for a new Xbox 1x, or whatever it is called. It should do you until your grown and left home.
I’m using a 1070/4790k on 4k HDR 55" tv and it’s absolutely stunning. I definitely think Forza 7 has been made with the X1X in mind rather than the normal X1.
I am playing on Xbox One S, HDR, upscaled to 2160p on. 55” KS8000, the game looks glorious, wipes the floor with all other racing games graphics to date on XB1. Ran FM6 yesterday and the aliasing and lack of HDR was painfull. Not shure WTH OP is babbling about.
Bruh you probably need to get a better TV or your perception is skewed. I turn on FM7 and the Graphics are good to me. Add to that most people are probably not even running 4k HDMI wires from their Xbox to their TV’s. I know it is not running at 4K yet but your picture is only going to be as good as the cables you have connecting your Xbox to your TV. Try upgrading to 4K HDMI wires. I have a 4K TV with a very good quality 4K HDMI wire and FM7 Looks really good.
