Unlikely since the original xbox one shipped with a 4k capable HDMI cord.
At least my Day One Ed did.
I chalk the difference up to what are essentially two versions of the game.
4K and non 4K.
The game does in fact look a bit less detailed compared to 6 in some places on my Xbox One, but on my computer with max settings those same areas look fantastic.
I’m almost certain we will be seeing threads about how the game looks completely different in a month when the One X drops.
??? You must be playing a different game or in a different universe or maybe just maybe the FM7 braille version. Oh and let me say Please don’t come with negative criticism my feelings might get offended.
No way. I hated FM5 and played FM6 for a year. This is a huge leap over both. The way the backgrounds move and how much more alive and scenic all the levels are, the cloud tones, far off distant backgrounds… The game is beautiful and I can’t go back to FM6 or H3. I don’t know what you’re seeing.
he is not refering to the things you mentioned. those are great, totally agree.
what he means, and where i support it, is the track details, like vegetation wise. compare in another thread screenshots from forza 5 and 6 of the exact same locations.
you will see a decrease in ambient occlusion, gras, tree-depth, road surface reflection. its undeniable that turn10 cut on stuff because of the partially (!) dynamic time of day and weather.
which would be fine for me if we would have gotten 24 hour cycles and rain on every track. now we have kind of 2-3 hours from late evening into night and 2-3 hours from late night into morning. and rain on 6-7 tracks. [Mod Edit - Abbreviated profanity, profanity and profanity that is disguised but still alludes to the words are not permitted - D].
I honestly think you failed to incorporate that this game is ultimately optimized for PC/X1X. The fact that it even runs as good as it does on the base model is amazing alone. And honestly I don’t see this discrepancy between fm6 or fm7. Honestly either upgrade and get the full experience or sit here and Complain about the potato TV and it model you have. It’s not the game it’s the system.
It’s going to be interesting to see if there’s a noticeable improvement playing this on the X1X. Graphically the game is still good, but even Forza Motorsport 5 the car models look so much better imo.
i get where you come from with your meme, but you gotta admit that people who claim that this is wrong and the game looks stunning and that there is nothing to criticize, are just exactly the same.
also there would be nothing wrong with stating facts if you can show valid evidence.
not everything is “just opinion”. or would you claim that hitler regime murdering millions of jews is a awful thing and despicable just “opinion” and one should always state that its JUST ME who sees it that way? come on…
A large part of the forum finds the FM7 uglier than FM6. Now the real Forza players cough… cough… defending the move (downgraded graphics) of T10. This game is buggy as hell!
If you compare project cars 2 with Forza then you see how great FM7 is. PC2 is full of bugs, inconsistent Framerate down to 38 fps and the physics didn’t work right (tyrewear, night) and horrible background resolution.
If someone want better graphics with dynamic weather then he must switch to a PC IMO.
To say the game looks ugly is subjective and to me trolling.
Alone the cockpits looks so much better in FM7. Then weather effects are great on Xbox one.
I have a question … when Xbox OneX will be available, a patch should be released to support upgrade resolution etc.
Let’s assume you do not want to switch to OneX because you still not have a 4K display with HDR, will that patch make a “visual” upgrade (I’m not talking about resolution but about texture / track details) also perceptible in 2k?
No, those extra details cost precious CPU time. Only the One X will have enough power to render those details, which is why the patch is coming much later, because it will only benefit the One X which won’t be out until next month.
Folks want lots of cars on track, good quality game audio, day/night cycles with weather, realistic physics… it all has to come at a trade off. There are current limits to technology otherwise T10 would have held back no punches. Is anyone willing to dish out $800 or so up front for a gaming console? I think not, and neither are companies ready to develop one as maybe a quarter of the consumer pool would buy them.
However, you might see refinements here and there over the months as graphical glitches are ironed out, but I think the game looks fine. Yes, I have some reservations too - it is not FM6 or 5-level graphic fidelity but in the name of keeping 60 fps locked, trade offs have to be made. There’s always Horizon if you’re after graphics.
So I have just played the new Demo for Gran Turismo Sport on my PS4 Pro and as much as it pains me to say this… visually it’s night and day compared to F7.
Now I should qualify that I’ve always hated the GT games and never bought them, I’m Forza through and through. I also happen to think that F7 does look beautiful- granted the trackside details are rather lacking in some places.
However comparing the two it was smack in the face obvious just how much more beautiful and full the GT game is by direct comparison. Having said that, the track and car roster is abysmal and interface dubious at best…
Haven’t tried PC2 but I did have a go at PC1 the other night when the T10 servers were down. Yes, the dynamic weather on every track is nice but the frame rate hiccups and screen tearing 3-4 times per lap are very unpleasant. Stable 60fps with some ugly trees is better than trying to do everything with frame rate drops. When it comes to lighting Forza really started blowing away the console competition with FM6.
As others have pointed out and has been discussed at length even before the game was released - getting an Xbox One X means you are getting the supersampling benefits of having a 4K console. What this means is on your 1080p TV, FM7 will look noticeably better as it will be supersampled from 4K to 1080p. You’ll be looking at a cleaner and crispier image with very little to no aliasing at all. Of course, it also depends how good your TV is at the downscaling. A bigger TV screen always helps. Add to that the HDR effects, and you will appreciate the overall look of the game, although I think the whole HDR thing has been somewhat oversold. It is a more advanced form of dynamic contrast IMO that meshes the colors better.
However, texture detail levels, filtering, lighting, particle effects, all remain the same, just so you know.
