That’s why it could be a design/artistic direction. If you remember the first teaser of FM8, things shown in your image pretty much conforms the more or less dirty and cinematic atmosphere. I guess they’ve got what they wanted, colour grading and sound FX wise.
And the outcome? Great, now every track looks like Laguna Seca.
IMO the biggest difference between Forza Motorsport and Gran Turismo right now is the way GT7 and FM fit into their respective franchises.
While GT7 falls short in some areas compared to its predecessors (mostly GT4 TBH, as we should really forget GT5 and 6 ever existed), the technical progress is clear, which balances things out. GT7 is as polished as GT4 while having much better physics, graphics, detail, etc. If GT7 had a more substantial career mode, all of those “boomer millennial” types who idolize the 2000s would vanish, as the game is vastly superior to any other GT when it comes to their core, and they’d have no argument to hate on the newer game.
Forza Motorsport, on the other hand, not only loses out to older entries when it comes to game design, but it’s also technically the weakest entry in the franchise. I see some of the things you guys post and just can’t believe how shoddy this game is. When talking about graphics and attention to detail, FM does not feel contemporary, unlike the older entries when they were released. The only real perk FM has in comparison with the old games is the physics. It’s insulting to the fanbase.
The main reason I moved to GT was that I felt Microsoft started to neglect FM after the huge success of FH3. All the things I see happening with the new FM help reassure me that I made the right choice. If you’re not gonna treat FM with the respect it deserves, just let it die and focus on FH.
I just wish GT7 had a proper career with intelligent AI. Sophy won’t be fully intergrated until GT8 . It’s only in a few races in arcade mode at moment.
I still think the PS4 has held back GT7 graphics wise. I think both games are a bit of a let down. GT 7 dissapointed me on day one graphically. It’s not worthy of a numbered title. It’s more like GT Sport 2.
Are you calling me a troll? Gt7 visually destroys motorsport, is that better. If youve played both you wouldnt blink an eye at that statement, but its obvious you havent. Motorsport 23 is also one of the worst racing games to release in quite some time, id say pcars 3 level of flop. Theyre lucky theyre owned by Microsoft and on gamepass because if they werent the studio would have been closed already.
You got it right there bud. It seems that Microsoft is very lax regarding their Xbox Games Studios… They are flopping on all sides, pretty much running main Xbox franchises in the ground.
Even new fabled acquisitions reception are being arguably poor. XBOX Series X being most powerful current console is not being utilized, all that power is not being showcased in any way compared to PS5.
On the Forza part, FH5 is not a huge jump over FH2, and now Motorsport is in some conditions being slapped by FM5…
After playing both GT7 for 400 hours and I’ve put 280 hours into FM but I wouldn’t say GT7 smashes FM graphics wise. Most importantly on a controller I’d say Forza blows GT7 out the water. I race in chase cam, It’s useless in GT7 but in Forza it’s really dynamic and has a much better sense of speed. Obviously we all use different driving veiws.
Not for one minute am I excusing the mess T10 has made. Obviously by my hours played I’m enjoying it. On console it’s all I’ve got . I’ve GT7 on my PS5 but now I’m into Forzas physics I just can’t play GT7 anymore. That’s an honest opinion from someone with a lot of time in both games. I’ve playing every Forza and GT.
I’m on Series X not PC so don’t have graphic problems PC players have.
I respect your opinion but idk how can you say gt7 chase cam is useless…stiff cam is actually better for acurate driving. You must be the only person I know that actually played gt7 and wasn’t happy with the graphics…bit weird
Interesting to hear - this seems like a really honest fair take on the GT vs Forza discussion and perhaps rose-tinted glasses that some of us disappointed customers may be wearing when it comes to Sony’s alternative.
Honestly I’ve read so many people on GT7 forums moaning about the still chase cam.
I really never was blown away by GT7 graphics . I was expecting a big jump but it never happened. I think sometimes we expect too much. Have things reached the point where they can’t improve much now. To find faults reviews like Digital Foundry go over the game with a microscope. Can I find faults with FM well yes. When I’m racing though I’m too busy looking at the track.
Same with GT7 it stutters at times with loads of cars and you can see lod detail filling in on track edges. Both games have faults. For me Forza is my favourite game in many ways. The core though is how it drives. To me it’s so much better than GT7 but that’s my opinion, Other people prefer GT7 which I respect. I’m not console bashing as I have both. I just love Forza much more than GT 7. In places Forza looks really nice. Just needs a Polish.
Even in Forzas release state online there’s loads more choice than GT7 which only has three races a week. Forza is much much better online. I’m sure we will get more open class lobbies. Don’t buy a PS 5 just for GT7 is my advice.
You are correct my friend. One thing I’ll add is that GT7 has better graphics package overall, simply thanks to the total lack of attention to detail in FM. If some kind of PS5 Pro happens, that allows GT7 to go RTX in 60fps in racing, that will probably be pinnacle of racing game graphics.
As I said FM is let down by T10 halfassing things:
-models - GT7 is life-like and we have S15 Silvia…
-rear lights - GT7 has perfect detailing but glow is overdone, but I drive Skyline GTS-R in FM and rear lights glow white!!!
And there’s so many…
I’ll add two of Screenshots, of cars that I have unfortunately chosen in two consecutive cups, and haven’t had money to replace them…
That shouldn’t happen…
Especially with same models that are present in so many games before…
I have never seen something like that in GT7.
I don’t know if you’re deliberately misleading people with that 3 races in gt7 or not. Sure it has 3 official races that rotate every week, plus time attack that adds new challenge i think every week as well. What you don’t mention is that you can browse countless lobbies that people create to race with in various classes that some are prob better because they kick out rammers.
Not to mention that if you want to just chill and drive around you can joinn a meet out on for example nordschleife and have a laugh with dudes.
No people know that so I’m misleading no one. You can have private races with friends in Forza. I just prefer Forza that’s all. Both PD and T10 failed to deliver what we wanted so we all lost out.
In chase cam on GT7 with it so still and locked it feels like the car is stationary and the track is moving. Obviously in car veiw it’s different…
IIts no crime liking one over the other it’s just a choice. We need both to keep pushing each game to get better.
When GT released the reason I was dissapointed graphics wise was comparing it to FH5 which looks a lot better. That also applies to FM.
I have the same feeling as you, I’ve had GT7 for 1 year and apart from the lights of the cars which are better on GT7, the rest is equal game with Forza and the point where Forza is better is the general rendering and life on the tracks and for driving Forza is a little better
