could there ever possibly be motorcycles in the future of Forza Horizons?

or at least a motorcycle game on the level of Forza Horizon/Motorsports???
the two at any level comparable games would be Moto GP (there a 2014 edition i have my eyes on) and the SBK series which i haven’t played before. i also remember playing a game based on that west coast choppers tv show which i vaguely remember having a pretty decent amount of customisation…

i think part of the reason motorcycle games (at least the ones that exist) and motorcycles IN games fail is that

  1. the real world audience is not mainstream/big enough to warrant the games
  2. they are based on real world leagues, and the most “fantasy” you get out of them is competing in the leagues
  3. motorcycles don’t seem to have enough “bits” to them, not enough to customise, or maybe its that there is TOO MUCH to customise?
  4. motorbikes tacked onto driving games (i mostly just have midight club 3/dub to run with on this point) i feel have been adequate, but the customisation and realness of the drive is not on them and not even for the cars either. but if we look at something like GTAV, the way the game is built is entirely different (this links to my question below) they are not tacked on, they are just made for that world.

i was wondering (and always wishing and praying) if the world set up for Forza could handle motorbikes in it? the existing physics.

i wonder, what does it take to make a motorcycle game, like whats different as far as game mechanics? obviously the models and controls would be different (i’m only working on very brief experience with 3d animating and 2d flash game development haha) but is there something lying under all that that effects the grip on the wheels, the physics of leaning into a turn, the speed corners are taken at etc etc.

i loved and adored Forza Horizons, i played the absoloute crap out of it, but something happened with it and it stopped working on my xbox, i can’t wait to get an xbox one and Horizons 2. i love the world and the premises of it, the perfect (for me at least) balance between racing simulator and awesome car action game. i think its the perfect world to introduce motorcycles and motorcycle gaming into the next gen and bring it onto the same level and respect that car racing games get.

p.s side question, does anyone know of other motorcycle racing/sim/games that are out there? my experience isn’t exactly huge.

Simple answer : There could be a possibility, but it’s very unlikely.

Possible? Sure. But, that would have to come with a physics engine overhaul of massive proportions.

Hope not. Cars and motorcycles racing together is a bad idea,i remember in PGR ramming the bike rider with my car and never seeing him the rest of the race,funny then but now i have grown up.

There was already a forum about this once, where the sentiment seemed to be that if it happens it needs to be its own game (which I would be fine with, if you are into that sort of thing). Putting the two together is just too many variables and too many opportunities for it to make a bad game.

Not convinced there is a large enough player base to make it worth a stand alone game though, so chances are probably slim.

Gosh, I hope not, but it would be okay if it was in its own game. I have no interest racing against motorcycles

Both of the Test Drive Unlimited games have bikes in an open world. I rode them quite a bit in TDU2, until Horizon took over as my favourite open world driving game. TDU I think had bikes right out of the box, while TDU2 had a free game add-on that introduced them.

In TDU1, cars could race with bikes. In TDU2, bikes could only race with bikes.

Oops… TDU2 had an add-on for the bikes… but it wasn’t free.

I hope not. I want them to focus on adding more cars before they ever add another type of vehicle. We are still missing a lot of key cars that are a necessity for Forza right now. Maybe after the car list racks back up to around the 500-600 mark I wouldn’t mind seeing motorcycles added.

We don’t even have 3 and 6 wheeled cars yet, let alone Motorcycles. Personally I’d rather see a G63 6x6, or Reliant robin.

Turn10 is a bit like Top Gear. No motorbikes.

Doubt they would with the physics engine needed as stated above, id like them to stick to cars :stuck_out_tongue:

I’m also hoping for motorcycles, but as far as I can see, the chances of getting them are rather low :confused:
But who knows, maybe the future brings some surprises.

I read the thread about motorcycles in regular Forza, and it seemed frowned upon. However, an open format game like Forza Horizon 2 would be perfect for them. One of my favorite driving games ever was the first Test Drive Unlimited because it was an open world driving game with both cars and motorcycles. Being able to choose between off road types, sport types and things in between much like with the cars would be a great fit. Please is this possible?
