Hmm, that makes me nervous. I just can’t drive outside the cockpit and as it is the view isn’t great due to light on some tracks and cross country is brutally hard.
I know you’re being facetious, but I can’t agree with you more. The chase view is so artificial, fake and arcade I can’t understand why anyone would want to drive like that in a sim game as this. The non-cockpit view contributes to an artificial sense of speed that takes longer and more skill to develop in cockpit view. Especially in competitions where prizes are at stake, only cockpit view should be allowed - I’m serious!
They’re saying that they can’t have much of a view of the outside environment while they are in cockpit view. I definitely agree, on most cars the window view is pretty small so I can only see so many objects at once.
When you’re inside the cockpit the exposure changes, making some things appear too bright where it hides detail, best way to see what we mean is to go to the beach and see how the sand’s color changes.
I’m a massive fan of realism in racing games and I always prefer cockpit view as well.
In the Forza series my attempts of cockpit view has been something of love and hate. For singleplayer the immersion is much more fun and even the restricted view and exposures can add something positive to the thrill and excitement. But for competitive online play there is nothing that beats this game in controller + chase cam view which is a shame.
I love FH for what it is and I get my fix of simulators from the likes of Assetto Corsa and Project CARS. But damn, imagine a real simulator in the FH3 world, that would be insanely fun.
I didn’t notice it until now, as I switched to first-person as soon as I could and didn’t switch it back enough to see the difference. Now I can’t unnotice it. Everything looks really dark, like the windshield is tinted. Why would they do this?
Yep. I get the same thing with both the Maloo and the M4 (haven’t tried the others). It’s like a really aggressive window tint. Though, on the flip-side, I also noticed that there were few, if any, in cockpit reflections.
I wonder if, because it is a demo, they left some of the textures, transparencies, and reflections out to keep an already large download from being larger – either that, or keeping them in was somehow “breaking” the demo. Or it could even be an “oops – forgot about that” moment. And, with that, one thing to keep in mind is that it is a demo after all, which almost always has the disclaimer of “This demo does not reflect the quality of the final product.” So, the best thing to do is to wait and see how things look in the actual release.
