Cockpit camera placement in a lot of cars is ridiculous

I really hope they do something about this.

The Hellcat is the worst that I’ve found. Who in their right mind said, “Yes, perfect. Looking directly at the SRT logo on the steering wheel is exactly how I’d drive it”…?

This was a big issue I had w/ FM5. Why focus so much on cockpit view when a good chunk of cars feels like your driving from the backseat and then like others say it’s too low u can’t even see that well. I do like project cars features when it comes to adjustments you can make…plus even allowing you to add buttons to adjust height of camera.

Have you try the California T in Forza 6? I can hardly see the road when I use the cockpit view in California T.

Where is the lever to raise the seat?

Seriously, was having a blast until I bought the Ferrari California T. It feels like I’m sitting in a hole, with more car interior than outside on the screen. The top of the wheel sits smack dab in the middle of view, so you can’t see the horizon.

If this were a real car I’d be sitting on a phone book.

Yeah. The Callenger Hellcat is bad too… You sit too low, it’s quite bad to drive like this.

In the absence of any adjustment options, I’ve just started test driving each car before I buy it to make sure it’s cockpit - drive friendly.

Several cars are horrible the cockpit

Huracan
Ford GT
Audi R8

this’ll be a deal breaker for me. i use the incar cam 100% of the time. if i cant see where im going that kinda ruins the game, doesnt it? oh well, back to LITERALLY ANY OTHER RACING GAME OUT RIGHT NOW where i can see out the windshield

I agree with you on this being a deal breaker.

I bought Forza as it is the only way that I will ever be able to drive a car in a racetrack. You spend your money and then you get in your car t ok drive it, and yoh feel like you are driving from the back seat.

Total deal-breaker but…

Too late for me though.

I bought the XB One just for Forza 6… went past the return date at Target …darn it. Hopefully Forza 7 addresses this issue.

I did the SRT Hellcat rival challenge last night and felt like I was a hunched-over little grandma. I couldn’t even see the road ahead of me whenever there was a minor crest. Who at Turn 10 has ever driven a car where the steering wheel was at eye level?

This is such a basic usability issue and it’s pathetic that the cockpit camera would be so completely unusable in any car in a game with this budget. I have never played a racing game with cockpit view where I had any issues seeing the road.

I was excited to be able to drive the SRT Hellcat but for all the detail they put into the cockpit there’s no immersion, only frustration.

have you ever sat in one?

here’s what it look like from the driver’s seat in my challenger.

after using the in game cockpit cam, i didn’t feel like it was inaccurate. being 6 ft tall you can see the visibillity is limited. and the steering wheel and dash is very high for as low as the roof is. so my guess is that all the cars are accurate with slight angle changes to try and maximize the visibility which may be why you think the hellcat cam angle is a little low.

The hellcat in car view is absolutly accurate, but the seat is 3 inches too low!!! The picture you show looks about 5 inches higher than the in game position which is obviously way more ideal than having the damn steering wheel obstructing your view through the windshield!! The pic you show is a bit high but if the in game was 2 inches lower than the pic you showed in your challenger it would be perfect. Its absolutly ridiculous how low they made it… Its like your in game charecter got in the car after the stig drove it, lmao. When they show the stig next to you in race the stig showcase he’s like 3-4 inches taller than your charecter, lol.

driving the car in real life, my viewing angle is not ideal. i would be able to see more if i was about 3 inches shorter. for that picture i put the lens of the camera on my eye level with the phone touching my face. so it’s accurate. and my seat is as low as it will go. the point of my post was to say that they probably did make the camera lower than in real life, but that’s because that height will give you the best visibility. having it at real life height, the roof would obstruct your view a lot.

I would take you RL view over this one.

The heights seem accurate to me because his actual picture is from 6’0". If i sat in the car id be lower at 5’8". It does looks like the forza screenshot is wider and therefore, shortened. So its a give and take. In general, It seems the bigger cars you tend to sit lower in and windshields are squished down for wider view in all cars.

Many cars are with this cockpit view, I think particularly horrible.

double post

I too think the Hellcat position is ridiculous. If it had the same position as how you are sat in the pic I would be happy, but it is set further back.

It would be nice to have the option to move the camera. Some cockpit views are so far to the back that it forces you to use the outside cam.

i think you’d find a lot of your vision to the right would be blocked by the mirror. plus anytime you went down hill you’d have a hard time seeing the road past the bottom of the dip because the roof would be in the way. and you can’t even see the door mirror . even while driving in real life, it’s awkward to look over at the door mirror. it’s jsut past normal glancing distance.

the challenger is just hard to see out of. period. there’s going to be a problem in that car no matter where you put the camera. you guys should really cling to another example for this complaint.

muscle cars don’t have good visibility.
